Noir is a term used for dark or with darker shades. The term is typically used for moodboards in film making, however, taking inspiration from there, it has been used by Global Luxury houses for perfumes with deep notes. KHAYAL (moodboard):
Falaknuma motifs were created by Meiraas in 2018, and all of them were paying an ode to the iconographies rooted in the culture of Awadh; Chess Pieces & a Game of Chess was one of them.
Taking inspiration from celebrated Indian author, Munshi Premchand's story, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, we created Bisaat. Celebrated Indian Filmmaker, Satyajit Ray, also made a classic adaptation of this story in 1977.
Bisaat or the chessboard was the biggest conversation starter in Awadh; this past legacy has been recreated on this showstopper Kurta
POSHAAK (about the dress): This is a Pure Linen Yellow Kurta with Bisaat motifs of Badshah (King), Wazir (Minister), Haathi (Elephant) & Ghoda (Horse), which were re created as a reference from pieces used in playing chess during the times of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah.

The Sustainability Quotient (SQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery
2. Handwoven Linen
KHAYAL (mood-board):
We dreamt of Chikankari on Linen, with small wisps of Resham Blossoms of the craft sprouting on the fabric, like spring invoking the birth of fresh flowers from the Earth, after the first melting of the snow. Experimenting on Linen fabric was always a vision we saw, as a possible replacement to the antique quality Chikankari done on Bengal Muslin, which is rare and largely inaccessible now. We wanted the moodboard to be Soft Romance of nature against a gossamer, sustainable fabric.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
Handloom Linen Tunic with lace detailing & Resham Chikankari done on the front & back of beautiful purple Jacaranda blossoms.
Additional Details: This Kurta can be stitched upto sizes S (small) to XXL (Extra Extra Large) only. Please select your size & we will stitch it complimentary. You can leave length preference in the Customer Note.

THE SUSTAINABILITY QUOTIENT (TSQ):
Artisan Skill enhancement: Exclusive Meiraas Patta Patta Boota Boota Motif embroidery that is a mix of Aari & Chikankari in same motif.
Handmade in India
KHAYAL (mood board):"When i had designed the first Tunic & Palazzo set (it was yellow and my personal set), i was very new into this work & having grown up seeing Chikankari wanted something radically different in motifs and layout, yet something that does not defeat or overpower the elegant & laidback mood that the craft is identified with & loved for. I continue to be a rebel in my thoughts about designing Chikankari pieces & by now that has become a signature style of Meiraas. This ensemble was designed to be something you can slip on easily in casual or formal meetings in India, & as comfortably carry them in SoHo, New York or a French Countryside in a vineyard possibly. The idea was my rebellious little mind that wanted tradition to carry on, yet break from the pattern and do it" - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Design, MeiraasPOSHAAK (about the product):
Soft cotton Chikankari Tunic (Kurta) in Meiraas Exclusive Patta Boota Motif. The interesting part of this Motif Embroidery is the clever confluence of two styles of embroidery in one motif, both native to Lucknow, Aari & Chikankari. The Flower is filled with Aari stitch, whereas the rest of the motif is done in Chikankari. Both seamlessly come together in a perfect symbiosis.
About the Tunic (Kurta): The length is 41 inches for each Kurta. This length can be shortened 2 inches only on request. The motifs are 3 on hemline, one each on either shoulder. Please mention your size as per size chart on checkout.
About the Palazzo (Pants): The waistband is belt style (flat) in front & elastic at the back. The motif comes 1 each on each leg. Length is 37 inches and can be altered.
Important:
Chikankari garments are translucent by nature as they are mostly made on lighter cottons & in natural white or pastel shades. To wear a slip underneath is subjective to the wearer's comfort
Only Kurta & Palazzo is available to shop from this post.

A rare classic of a Kurta, Jyamiti is a Royal Blue linen kurta, with 3 Taar Resham Tepchi Chikankari done allover the front & sleeves, to make it a grand royal attire, but with relaxed maximalism moodboard.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Fine Tepchi Work:Â This kurta has the rare 1 daana Tepchi work, where each stitch of tepchi looks like a small grain, making the embroidery style look extremely neat & subtle, yet impactful. This kind of Tepchi is rarely done in the commercial, or even premium market now.
Sustainable fabric base - Pure Linen/Tussar Silk (choice of either as per order)
Bespoke stitching.
KHAYAL (moodboard): Jyamiti is the Sanskrit word for Geometry, one of the ancient most sciences from our land. Geometry is a gift of the Gods to humans, that first took birth in India, and from there travelled the World over. The progress that we have seen since the inception of humanity, is possible due to this ancient science. It has governed not only the space of Scientific accuracy, but has also permeated towards Arts, because of its rich complexity, and profound core. Many Textile Arts show beautiful patterns of Jyamiti, and Chikankari is not behind. In fact, Geometrical motifs are most suited to bring out the beauty of a well done Tepchi Chikankari, and is primarily used in a classic Tepchi work.
POSHAAK (about the dress): This is a Pure Linen Kurta/Tussar Silk Kurta (choice of either fabric as per order) in plush Royal Blue colour. The embroidery is done in 1 daana Tepchi style where each running stitch of Tepchi is not more than the size of a small grain. This is a time intensive and fine process, that lends a very regal & neat look to the Kurta, thereby bringing out the complexity & beauty of Jyamiti.
The front panel & sleeves are fully embroidered, and the back has a single motif to balance out the look. The embroidery is done in Resham Chikankari.
Additional Details: The Kurta is Made on Order only. It is a rarity & will take time to get made, as only a handful of very skilled artisans can even make it. Please feel free to give your custom sizing (please specify body or garment sizing), in case you don't find your perfect fit in our size chart.
You can also put in a request for Custom Colour, & in customer note do mention the choice of fabric between Linen & Tussar Silk.

A rare classic of a Kurta, Syamantak Mani is a white pure linen kurta, with 2 Taar Chikankari done on re-created motifs of late 19th-early 20th century artwork. The kurta is a rarity that the men in maximalist Nawab era used to enjoy.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Re-Created motifs, commissioned by Meiraas, using late 19th & early 20th Century Chikankari motifs as an example. The references have been drawn from Textiles housed in state & national museums and well researched archival works on the subject.
Exclusive Meiraas motifs carved following all traditional processes. No tracing of artwork.
Use of the Crown Motif which belongs to early 20th Century, and is now with Meiraas unit.

Rare stitches used in embroidery like Kaante, Hool, Jaali, Phanda, Rahet, Ghaspatti, Chanapatti vis a vis maximum 2-3 common stitches used in Kurtas.
Sustainable fabric base - Pure Handwoven Linen.
Bespoke stitching.
KHAYAL (moodboard): The legendary Syamantak Gem, mentioned in Vishnu Purana & Bhagwad Purana, is believed to the the famed Kohinoor. Legends say that Syamantak Mani was originally the jewel of the Sun God. It was granted by him to a devotee of his, who belonged to the Yadava clan of Sri Krishna. It was believed that wherever Syamantak was placed with devotion, and not greed, it would heap prosperity on that land. However if passed on or snatched away, it would create the opposite energy, equally potent as its positive energy. Predictably, as is the human greed, the Syamantak was lost, and is believed to be Koh-i-noor.
The Crown motif of this Kurta and its jaw dropping intricate 2 Taar embroidery made us name it Syamantak, alluding to The Crown with this famed jewel.
POSHAAK (about the dress): This is a Pure Linen Kurta in its natural colour. The embroidery motifs used here are all commissioned by Meiraas using images of late 19th century archival Chikankari images, and the Crown Motif is an extremely old one (possibly from early 20th Century).
The back has a stunning re-created motif of Inverted Paan and below it is a motif of inverted, ornate minaret. These works are archived in scholarly works of textile art, we have re-created them in our own way. The embroidery done here is 2 Taar Chikankari.
The sleeves have the minaret, and the whole Kurta body is sprinkled with the Crown motif. The embroidery has been done in Beige & Natural White, in keeping with the work observed in the early 20th Century Textile, to create the closest effect.
The Kurta embroidery is an amalgamation of rare stitches most of which are painstakingly hand cut ones, the prime ones being Kaante (two stitches merged in one embroidery), Jaali, Hool, Ghaspatti, Murri (rice grain). This makes the Kurta a class apart creation that one would love to cherish as part of an Heirloom Collection & pass it on to future generations, who might preserve your legacy as an heirloom, and maybe in a well curated Art & Textile show in the future, can display the taste their ancestor had.
Additional Details: The Kurta is Made on Order only. It is a rarity & will take time to get made, as only a handful of very skilled artisans can even make it. Please feel free to give your custom sizing (please specify body or garment sizing), in case you don't find your perfect fit in our size chart. KHAYAL (moodboard): Deepmala translates to a "Garland of Diyas" or Earthen lamps, one of the most therapeutic and energising sights of Deepawali festival. There is not one soul who can say that the lit rows of Diyas with their soulful flame does not invoke a sense of calmness, positivity, love and joy. It is one of those moments of joy that is not ephemeral. Do you know why? Because the silent flame of the Diya makes you realise that this is how your Aatman is inside your Body. The realisation brings the relativity & connectivity!! We wanted to capture the glow of Diyas on a Diwali night through a Mukaish creation, and here we did it through DeepMala.

KHAYAL (mood-board):
Swarna is a hue we love! We introduced the fabric of Zari Silk (or Tissue) with Resham Chikankari, back in 2020, with our Dhanlakshmi collection. Since then, this is one of our most revered & loved creations.
Our moodboard was inspired by the ancient Indian sculptures that showcased very intricate & deep work on rich fabrics. We wanted to explore this unexplored dimension with Chikankari work, and it turned out ethereal!!
POSHAAK (about the dress):
The Swarna Ambi dupatta has beautiful Gold Ambi motifs on two sides of the daaman diagonally. The workmanship in the Ambi motif is exquisite with many rare stitches, including qasab taar ki jaali. The Sustainability Quotient (SQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery
2. Handpicked heritage value motifs
3. Top quality pure cotton fabric
KHAYAL (moodboard): Orange Biskoot or Biscuit reminds me of a bakery in Lucknow (confused whether Good Bakery or Burma Bakery), that made these subtle orange flavoured nankhatai sort of biscuits. The colour had a hint of orange, and they tasted very subtly of the orange flavour, like just about. They were my favourites back then.Gradually either they stopped being made, or newer bakeries came up with truffles and what not, we did grow apart; yet the memory lingers - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
POSHAAK (about the dress): Beautiful peach coloured Kurta Fabric in Pure Jacquard Cotton anointed with embroidery just a shade darker. The Chikankari motif used here is a heritage one, and rarely seen. The back has a single motif of Phool with the precious Sunehre Kasab ki taar jaali. The sleeves also have the back motif one each on either sleeve. Rest of the Kurta is plain, so that both self pattern fabric & Chikankari on it can neatly shine through.
The Chikankari is Resham and will be 3 taar.

FISH motif is one of the most celebrated icons of Awadh's heritage & history. The Fish Emblem was sacred to the Nawab royalty of Lucknow & Awadh, and its inspiration looms large on the many architectural landmarks across Awadh, that are now seeing the ravages of time. We have already created an Original Chikankari Motif of the Fish Emblem, we now wanted to create a revival of the iconic symbol in another masterpiece art of Awadh - Daraz applique.
The Awadhi Crafts are versatile with hand arts beyond Chikankari; Many crafts like Daraz, Mukaish, Aari, Zardozi have a unique standing of their own, yet are now relegated as an add on to Chikan in their most basic & non creative form. Daraz applique is one of them.

Minimalist pattern of dress makes the heritage motifs more usable, as they are intricate and delicate and cannot be used in current work style of fast and rough work.
Handmade in India
KHAYAL (mood board):"Since the time I started working on Chikankari, my sensibilities have evolved tremendously along with my brand. As any regular Lucknavi born in the 80s, I have witnessed the decline of this beautiful craft, and rarely cared back then. Today this craft is by and large a far cry from what was available just a few decades back. The ancient & antique motifs lie in the workshops gathering dust as the Fast and Thick work does not require their delicate charm. Gradually the artisans who could work on such intricate motifs became rarer. Now a handful who can embroider such motifs work on heavily embroidered pieces that come in super luxury range. Then how can I make them more sustainable. Minimalist Kurtas is one way, & I am seeing success there, but a Dress! That too Handwoven with charming old World cuts and pleats, and delicately placed Ancient motifs! Now this can certainly be a more Global and Versatile choice " - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Design, MeiraasPOSHAAK (about the product):

SUSTAINABLE MEIRAAS CHIKANKARIKHAYAL (moodboard):Â Ruskin Bond's novella "A Flight of Pigeons" is set in Shahjahanbad, Uttar Pradesh, during India's first recorded War of Independence against British Raj in 1857. The story, though a love story in the intent, is a lot more than that. It is a beautiful story of camaraderie in such bleak times between English women who are left as survivors of an aftermath, & extreme kindness & compassion they end up sharing with Indians where they take shelter. The friendship between "Kothiwali" an aging matriarch & Mariam, the English lady is lovely. The Cotton Frock, Aamramanjari, is an ode to this friendship & hence is made in a style that passes for both Indian & English.
Aamra Manjari or Mango Blossoms is the name given to the beautiful embroidery, as that belt of Uttar Pradesh is dominated by rows and rows of Mango plantations. Just like the tender & joyous blossoms, the friendship of women in this story is unassuming, under rated, yet most beautiful.
POSHAAK (about the outfit): Aamra Manjari Cotton Frock is made on Soft Pure Cotton. This frock is part of our artisan skill set improvement project, & the full collection took 1.5 years plus to get made. The front ghera (flare) is heavily embroidered with Mango Bark, the bust is done up with minimal flower & bel boota. The back has one statement Aamra Manjari motif & rest has small scattered flowers. It is a beautiful dress to be worn in any weather & any occasion - work, beach holiday, fort holidays, home working. It can be dressed up as a Kurta and dressed down as a tunic on the beach.
