Capturing the cultural lexicon of Waves of River Gomti via Resham Chikankari, this masterpiece creation is an ode to the Awadh, as the civilisation of the River!
THE SUSTAINABILITY QUOTIENT (TSQ):-
KHAYAAL (Mood-board):
The Khayal or Aatmamanthan behind keeping this collection under the name Dhanlakshmi was very clear. We wanted to make a repository of Heirloom Sarees, where we can create colours and palettes that signify the opulence of Sri Lakshmi.
Parinaya, or the slow burn romance, is a philosophy behind love, hidden in the ancient Hindu scriptures, and on the walls of temples. It is the beauty of slow pleasures of companionship between a couple, over the thrill of instant gratification.
This stunning piece of Wearable Art, that carries with it the finest fragrance of Awadhi couture, is designed with the essence of Parinaya. It is a amalgamation of all temple sculptures of romance, and description in scriptures of the love between deity couples, that was endless and celestial.
We re-imagined this concept from the ancient past to the present, and to the land of Awadh.
POSHAAK (About the garment):
Leherva, as the name suggests, is our imagination of Waves, as the cultural & historical lexicon of Awadh’s River belt. Leherva or the Wave pattern has an old connect with this land, that is often seen in myriad craft forms & architecture. There was a time when even Leheriya tie & dye was created in the homes of Lucknow, with the dyers coming all the way from Bakshi ka Talaab.
In Mukaish, wave pattern motifs, hold lot of significance, whereas in Chikankari, they are often brought to vision by Tepchi stitch.
We wanted to create a stunning heirloom saree in Chikankari using the Wave pattern of River Gomti, and realising our vision using some rare stitches of Chikankari like Murri, Ghaaspatti, Orma, Pechni, Shadow, Kauri, amongst others. Our vision was to see this saree on Brides, carrying memories of their River Culture, to their new homes & lives.
The brilliantly Red coloured Tissue Georgette saree is hand embroidered with meticulous precision in fine resham strands to create the delicate yet impactful wave pattern of River Gomti, in soft golden cream hue.
The saree is embroidered all over, to make this an outstanding piece of Heirloom Art, to be passed down generationally.
P.S. : Avoid moisture seeping into such sarees. Always store them in a dry place and in the Meiraas bag we deliver them in. Keep opening Silk Sarees in every 6 months and changing its folds.
