Very fine resham shadow work creates the famed Kites of Lucknow all through the Kurta and its statement back, in soft yellow shade. This gives a delightful pastel on pastel interplay to the Kurta. Mukaish detailing adds to the subtle charm of this statement Chikankari kurta. The extremely soft Handloom Cotton base gives the Kurta a very flattering fall, & provides extreme comfort, while being elegant. Khayal (moodboard): "Rajnigandha Collection was born out of my love of 70s effortless and relatable genre of Hindi Cinema, and the look of the heroines of such films, who felt closer to the women in my family & around me – my mother, my aunts, my teachers – all of whom were heroines in their own life, and were changing the societal mindset, to accept women who knew their mind, could go out & work, or homemakers who needed personal time, have a life and defined choices, while taking their family along in this journey. It was an interesting time!! Rajnigandha was especially chosen for Chikankari sarees, because they were heavily worn by women of all age groups in Lucknow, light worked ones and heavier Tepchi ones in pretty sorbet & pastel shades. The collection is also my heart collective, as it involves Artisan Skill Enhancement at each level, along with using good quality handwoven cotton fabric, all of which are fast disappearing from Chikankari everyday sarees." - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas Poshaak (about the saree): Wine is a beautiful deep plum hued Chikankari saree, that needs very little to dress it up or down for various occasions. It is embroidered with intricate Paan motif, an endearing iconography of Lucknow, that is reminiscent of the favourite mouth freshener Luckhnavis are addicted to. Rest of the saree has small floral bootis all over. Wear it for office with silver jewellery, or brunch with friends with well chosen Tribal Jewels, while you order yourself a glass of Merlot. Swarna, or the one that is Gold! This Gold Zari Silk Kurta & Dupatta ensemble from Meiraas, is anointed with delicate Resham Chikankari. A statement in itself, not much, but subtle accessories are needed, after one wears this kurta. The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ): 1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery. 2. Novel motif art & layout created using hand carved motifs following all processes. 3. Handloom Zari Silk for Kurta 4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book. KHAYAL (mood-board): Swarna is a hue we love! We introduced the fabric of Zari Silk (or Tissue) with Resham Chikankari, back in 2020, with our Dhanlakshmi collection. Since then, this is one of our most revered & loved creations. Our moodboard was inspired by the ancient Indian sculptures that showcased very intricate & deep work on rich fabrics. We wanted to explore this unexplored dimension with Chikankari work, and it turned out ethereal!! POSHAAK (about the dress): The Swarna Ambi dupatta has beautiful Gold Ambi motifs on two sides of the daaman diagonally. The workmanship in the Ambi motif is exquisite with many rare stitches, including qasab taar ki jaali. The rest of the dupatta is embroidered with a very intricate miniature diskette shaped floral motif, which is further highlighted by Mukaish embroidery. The delicate, yet rich dupatta is made on Tissue Georgette fabric allowing a light weight & flattering drape. Please see the full dupatta images by scrolling till the end. Swarna tunic, on the other hand, is made in Handloom Gold Zari Silk, with Resham Chikankari floral booti scattered in minimalist design mood board, as that is all this fabric needs to dress up. We wanted to create a more functional Kurti for the festive & wedding seasons, where one is running between events, & wants elegance and opulence, ready at their fingertips. Just add some well chosen diamonds or emeralds with this Kurti, for a rich and yet sublime look. There is a difference of shades in Swarna Ambi dupatta & Kurta. The dupatta is very light Gold, while the Kurta is Gold (please refer to the images). When worn together, they both complement each other very well, in giving a gradient effect. The pants should be made to match the Kurta. POSHAAK (about the product): Gajari - Oh the love for that fresh carrot juice hue!! Lucknow seemed to be obsessed with this hue of pink/red, at one point of time. We wanted to re-create this gorgeous shade from the past. This gorgeous jaal embroidered Chikankari Pant in Gajari Red, features a trellis pattern with florals in between each trellis shape. The embroidery is sone in stitches like orma, keel phanda, to help them stand out. SUSTAINABLE MEIRAAS CHIKANKARI KHAYAL (moodboard): Ruskin Bond's novella "A Flight of Pigeons" is set in Shahjahanbad, Uttar Pradesh, during India's first recorded War of Independence against British Raj in 1857. The story, though a love story in the intent, is a lot more than that. It is a beautiful story of camaraderie in such bleak times between English women who are left as survivors of an aftermath, & extreme kindness & compassion they end up sharing with Indians where they take shelter. The friendship between "Kothiwali" an aging matriarch & Mariam, the English lady is lovely. The Cotton Frock, Aamramanjari, is an ode to this friendship & hence is made in a style that passes for both Indian & English. Aamra Manjari or Mango Blossoms is the name given to the beautiful embroidery, as that belt of Uttar Pradesh is dominated by rows and rows of Mango plantations. Just like the tender & joyous blossoms, the friendship of women in this story is unassuming, under rated, yet most beautiful. POSHAAK (about the outfit): Aamra Manjari Cotton Frock is made on Soft Pure Cotton. This frock is part of our artisan skill set improvement project, & the full collection took 1.5 years plus to get made. The front ghera (flare) is heavily embroidered with Mango Bark, the bust is done up with minimal flower & bel boota. The back has one statement Aamra Manjari motif & rest has small scattered flowers. It is a beautiful dress to be worn in any weather & any occasion - work, beach holiday, fort holidays, home working. It can be dressed up as a Kurta and dressed down as a tunic on the beach. KHAYAL (Mood-board): Kannauji Gulaab is revered for its sharp yet subtle fragramce of Pink Roses, that was used to make Rose essential oils and perfumes since most ancient times, to this date. The romance associated with sharply pink and extremely fragrant roses of Kannauj, shaped our moodboard. POSHAAK (About the garment): This ombre Pink saree, inspired by the deeply fragrant roses of Kannauj, features a stunning floral Bel Boota motif on one koniya of the palla. The rest of the palla has two beautiful miniature floral running through the palla and body of the saree. The embroidery is white on the base of Ombre Pink, to bring out the delicate stitches like keel, double kangan, ghaspatti, orma, rahet, pechni, phanda, amongst other stitches. Delicate stars of Mukaish have been placed to enhance the embroidery work of this beautiful saree. It is finished with kingri lace on the palla.

For Men, this Kurta fabric can be used to fit Sizes - S, M, L only, for a standard knee length Kurta. Pastel peachy orange Pure Cotton self pattern Kurta Fabric with Fine Chikankari embroidery done using heritage motifs from our unit (please read full description). Top quality pure cotton fabric KHAYAL (moodboard): Orange Biskoot or Biscuit reminds me of a bakery in Lucknow (confused whether Good Bakery or Burma Bakery), that made these subtle orange flavoured nankhatai sort of biscuits. The colour had a hint of orange, and they tasted very subtly of the orange flavour, like just about. They were my favourites back then. Gradually either they stopped being made, or newer bakeries came up with truffles and what not, we did grow apart; yet the memory lingers - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas POSHAAK (about the dress): Beautiful peach coloured Kurta Fabric in Pure Jacquard Cotton anointed with embroidery just a shade darker. The Chikankari motif used here is a heritage one, and rarely seen. The back has a single motif of Phool with the precious Sunehre Kasab ki taar jaali. The sleeves also have the back motif one each on either sleeve. Rest of the Kurta is plain, so that both self pattern fabric & Chikankari on it can neatly shine through. The Chikankari is Resham and will be 3 taar. This kurta fabric is a good way to wear heritage motifs in classical Awadhi style, and most importantly for everyday wear, not just occasion wear. Bel Sharbat is a refreshing home made summer cooler in almost all Lucknow homes. Bel is an extremely nutritious fruit, and in the month of May this extremely juicy fruits starts falling from the trees, unable to hold its weight due to the nectar bursting inside. Smaller than a melon, and bigger than a lemon, the pastel peach insides of the fruit are soaked in water and the juice is extracted as a slow process. Pre Cola and packaged drinks onslaught, these home made healthy beverages formed the summer staple of every Lucknow Dopehri. POSHAAK (about the product): This beautiful Handwoven Kala Cotton dress has an asymmetrical hemline, making it very versatile to wear it as a dress also. KHAYAL (mood board): "Since the time I started working on Chikankari, my sensibilities have evolved tremendously along with my brand. As any regular Lucknavi born in the 80s, I have witnessed the decline of this beautiful craft, and rarely cared back then. Today this craft is by and large a far cry from what was available just a few decades back. The ancient & antique motifs lie in the workshops gathering dust as the Fast and Thick work does not require their delicate charm. Gradually the artisans who could work on such intricate motifs became rarer. Now a handful who can embroider such motifs work on heavily embroidered pieces that come in super luxury range. Then how can I make them more sustainable. Minimalist Kurtas is one way, & I am seeing success there, but a Dress! That too Handwoven with charming old World cuts and pleats, and delicately placed Ancient motifs! Now this can certainly be a more Global and Versatile choice " - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Design, Meiraas POSHAAK (about the product): Handwoven Cotton soft dress with charming old World cuts and pleats, and flared sleeves. SUSTAINABLE MEIRAAS CHIKANKARI KHAYAL (moodboard): Ruskin Bond's novella "A Flight of Pigeons" is set in Shahjahanbad, Uttar Pradesh, during India's first recorded War of Independence against British Raj in 1857. The story, though a love story in the intent, is a lot more than that. It is a beautiful story of camaraderie in such bleak times between English women who are left as survivors of an aftermath, & extreme kindness & compassion they end up sharing with Indians where they take shelter. The friendship between "Kothiwali" an aging matriarch & Mariam, the English lady is lovely. The Cotton Frock, Aamramanjari, is an ode to this friendship & hence is made in a style that passes for both Indian & English. Aamra Manjari or Mango Blossoms is the name given to the beautiful embroidery, as that belt of Uttar Pradesh is dominated by rows and rows of Mango plantations. Just like the tender & joyous blossoms, the friendship of women in this story is unassuming, under rated, yet most beautiful. POSHAAK (about the outfit): Aamra Manjari Cotton Frock is made on Soft Pure Cotton. This frock is part of our artisan skill set improvement project, & the full collection took 1.5 years plus to get made. The front ghera (flare) is heavily embroidered with Mango Bark, the bust is done up with minimal flower & bel boota. The back has one statement Aamra Manjari motif & rest has small scattered flowers. It is a beautiful dress to be worn in any weather & any occasion - work, beach holiday, fort holidays, home working. It can be dressed up as a Kurta and dressed down as a tunic on the beach. POSHAAK (about the product): Khus - the hue associated with ancient Awadh!! Khus!! The essence of Khus is difficult to describe, unless experienced firsthand. However, if one has to, then this grass, that throws the most pleasant fragrance, when sprinkled with water, is the feeling one gets when donning a Chikankari Kurta in scorching summers, sitting indoors, and reading a book with soft music and eating Kulfi. Khus is that romance that is indigenous to Lucknow, and to Awadh. This Kurta has been lovingly given this beautiful Pastel yet deeper green hue to denote our expression for Khus - fresh and romantic!! The Khus Green Chikankari Kurta made on soft cotton has a Round and V design, showing beautiful décolletage, and comfortable in the sweltering months. The neck has beautiful embroidery, while the rest of the body has lovely scattered motifs. The back of the Kurta has small bootis scattered at a distance. Important:

SUSTAINABLE CHIKANKARI BY MEIRAAS KHAYAL (mood-board): Patta Patta Boota Boota haal hamare jaane hain - Mir Taqi Mir, 1723-1810 The mood board inspiration for the motif is based on Mir Sahab's poem & the romance of floral frescoes in India, whether in architecture, art, poems and even textiles. This is a unique Meiraas motif inspired from Rajasthani & Mughal art, as Mir sahab was a jewel of Mughal court, & spent his later years in Lucknow court with Nawab Asaf-Ud-Daulah. This dress is an ode to Mir Sahab. POSHAAK (about the dress): This Kota Doria Dress has two masterclass arts - Gota Pintucks & Rehsam Chikankari. The dress was first pintucked & inlaid with Silver Gota. Post that it was sent to Lucknow to our artisans for high quality Resham Chikankari. The Dress is soft grey, a non traditional colour palette for Chikankari. The silver gota acts like a silver lining on dark cloud, very promising & hopeful. The embroidery is kept tonal & minimalist, yet graceful & regal. The back of the dress is plain with gota lines present in the kalis. The neck of the dress has silver Kingri lace details. The dupatta accompanying the dress is plain Kota Doria with Gota Edge detailing. The dress is ankle length & well lined with soft Cotton lining. It has a facing of Handloom Ikat to add drama.
