General Claude Martin, an 18th Century French soldier turned entrepreneur, who fell in love with Lucknow, that was then called the Paris of the East. He chose to settle in Lucknow forever!! Zou Bisou dress is an homage to the Awadh French Connect of the past. POSHAAK (about the product): Zou Bisou Flared dress is made in soft Handloom Cotton with masterclass Orma stitch displayed on the bodice, back & sleeves, making it look extremely romantic & elegant. These ancient Indo Gangetic plains are lush with greenery & boasts of one of World's oldest agrarian civilisation. Watching the emerald landscape of Awadh is a surreal experience, even more so in winters when dotted with the migratory bird population, the most notable of these being the Siberian Cranes, that never enter the city Lucknow, but stay just outside, especially in Nawabgunj Bird Sanctuary. With this concept in mind, we wanted to design motifs that glide in the night sky in a Yin & Yang appeal; we found the desirable art style of these motifs, very surprisingly, in Japan. The ancient Japanese Art style is dramatically circular in design, & it is here that we found our serendipity, the right manner to display the Nawabgunj Cranes. The motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018. Borrowing from Japanese palette, we designed the motifs keeping Chikankari stitches in mind, that best romance the gliding flight of the Siberian Cranes. KHAYAL (mood-board): Mango Yellow - When one thinks of Lucknow & summers, it is impossible not to think of the sweet nectarine mangoes of the region. As soon as fresh mangoes of the season come in, one whiff of the freshly plucked ones, sends anyone into an ecstasy of sensory pleasure of roaming in a beautiful mango orchard. This is what we wanted to capture through this design. POSHAAK (about the dress): The central embroidery feature of this kurta is the Flower Motif on the Macchli Gate of Rumi Darwaza. When one sees this emblem of Awadh, one can see the two fishes on either side of a majestic flora. That flora is the central motif on the hemline & back motif of this kurta. A miniature version of the same, has been added to the body of the kurta. The fish motifs are done in Daraz to give this kurta the complete feel of the concept. The mango yellow shade, & smattering of Mukaish adds to the beauty of this piece. Additional Details: This Kurta can be stitched upto sizes S to XXL only. During our childhood, taking cups of tea in the evening & sitting on the rooftop & watching the gliding Kites was a popular Luckhnavi leisue activity, as was flying it. Times changed & everything became fast paced, pushing these slow activities to the backburner. They were seen as something ancient & not quite fitting in. Still, when we meet our Lucknow friends or family, the glding & elegant Kites make way back into the conversation with the oft repeated "Don't know where that time flew by" - Power of Silence. This motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018. POSHAAK (about the dress): Patangbaazi or the Kite Flying Ritual as it was called is shown on the Kurta with delicate floral patterns in pastel Yellow colour in Meiraas Exclusive Semi Stitched Kurta made on Handloom Cotton. A gentle smattering of Mukaish adds the starry charm to this visage. The lace adds charm & romance to the ethereal Kurta. While the Kurta is not exactly opaque as it is White, it is a Cotton Kurta with Chikankari & will not necessarily need lining, unless you choose to take one. We were so encouraged to see the young generation's interest in creating such artful motifs that we adopted this motif as part of Meiraas collection.
