Handloom Cotton KHAYAL (mood-board): Shankpushpi flower is the inspiration behind this beautiful kurta. Just like the legendary flower, this kurta reminds one of the Chikankari of the more Innocent Age of fine Craftsmanship! POSHAAK (about the dress): Let us take you into the embroidery of this kurta step by step! The neckline has a very fine Murri, Shadow and Ghaspatti bel. The same gets repeated on the sleeve! Its a rarity to see these two embossed stitches together in this layout. A statement antique motif of Conch Shell shaped flower adorns the tunic on the front & the back. This motif has the following very finely done stitches in Kaccha Taagha - Jaali, Hathkati (2 cutworks together), Murri, Ghaspatti, Orma, Phanda. Miniature Floral Motifs adorn the rest of the kurta in a delicate flowy pattern of falling blooms. The tunic is a visual poetry. The Kaccha Taar Chikankari refers to Chikankari done with unreeled, raw thread. The filament of such cotton thread is extremely fine. It has to be taken out from the raw clump by hand, retted by hand, and made pliable for embroidery by hand everytime, unlike a reeled thread that is ready to use. This thread gives the look & finish of the Golden Age Chikankari that one can find in Textile Books and Craft Museums. The extremely soft Handloom Cotton base gives the Kurta a very flattering fall, & provides extreme comfort, while being elegant. Important :

POSHAAK (about the product): This contemporary style kurta borrows a playful theme from Boyfriend kurtas, and has a U shape hemline with a shorter rolled & loop button sleeve. The Chikankari also follows a contemporary pattern in unique design philosophy, with detailing on one shoulder and a statement motif of Sun, on the opposite side of the neckline. This sun motif in itself was fashioned using 2-3 different motifs, to create a unique design language. Aasmaani is the soft and fresh blue colour of the summer sky of Lucknow, that we has inspired the shade of this lovely kurta. Khayal (moodboard): When creating this dress, we wanted to delve into the very functional old school tailoring, that is rare to find now. This is a fine Jacket style front open Kurta dress. The style is borrowed from Achkan worn by Nawab Aristocracy in the old days. The design is made more contemporary & has been reimagined for women. The embroidery has minimalist and antique sensibility, with focus given to fine quality craftsmanship. Wooden button detailing add a regal grace to this dress. Poshaak (about the garment): Cover Me In Sunshine is a vibrant bright yellow coloured Achkan Dress, where the front panel is embroidered in a V shape panel (reference taken from early 19th Century archival Chikankari piece). The embroidery is very fine and intricate, done with fine Resham filaments in rare stitches like Murri & Ghaspatti featured very prominently, amongst others. The back features the stunning Nritya Mayur motif, an antique more than 100 year old motif. It has been detailed with hand cutwork stitch, the queen of Chikankari stitches, Kasab Taar Jaali, very extensively, making it a masterclass piece of wearable art. The stitching of this Achkan Kurta was perfected after numerous trials, to enable good coverage and flattering fall to all body types, especially Indian.

Handloom Chanderi & Pure Organza Silk (for dupatta) 4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book. KHAYAL (mood-board): Tulips have captured the mind space of Art connoisseurs alike the World Over. Maybe its alluring form is the reason, or their vibrant colours, but the elegant and beautiful Tulips find themselves as the centrepiece in many works of Art, including Textiles, where they have a dominating presence in some cultures. In Chikankari, we wanted these celebrated blossoms to be represented too, as the craft seems to be made for them. Our visit to a Tulip Show in New Delhi, in February of 2024, solidified this dream. POSHAAK (about the dress): The intertwined pair of Tulips find their romantic adaptation in Chikankari, through Tulip Royale ensemble. The front panel & sleeves has the Tulip Royale motif patterned heavily all through, creating a beautiful tone on tone effect in Ocean Blue shade of the Handloom Chanderi kurta. The back of the Kurta has the Tulip Royale encased inside a miniature oval frame motif, to show the allure of the blossom & its representation in Art. This motif has the rarest 3D embroidery, & the first of its kind in Chikankari. The complete oval miniature motif has been embroidered with Qasab Taar jaali, possibly the largest surface to have Jaali stitch in. The tulip encased inside this frame has other Chikankari stitches like Orma, Bijli & Shadow. The Jaali embroidery changes the shade of the Blue of the miniature oval, while the blue of the portions where Shadow embroidery is done have another hue; then again, the flower area with Orma stitch is darker and different blue from the Jaali & Stalk part of the embroidery. This enables 3 subtly changed shades of Blue, achieved via masterclass embroidery technique. The dupatta is Organza Silk with Tulip Motif Chikankari miniature boota scattered and Mukaish dots added all over. It adds to the ethereal charm of the whole ensemble. If you wish to add plain Glazed Cotton pants in same shade to match, you can select the same from Glazed Cotton Plain Pants and in Customer Note mention: Please make Pants to match the selected set. The Resham Chikankari has been done in a V shape on the front with two colour threads - White & Firozi. The back has an antique Paan motif that can be found in research books of Chikankari craft. It is a truly a travel back in fashion times, but with a contemporary, dressy twist. The stitching of this Linen Dress was perfected after numerous trials. It has been heavily researched & antique masterclass stitching expertise has been revived for it, so that it fits all body types, and gives a graceful form & structure. The button patti has a broad strip of fabric on the inside of the kurta to provide full coverage & comfort in any posture. Wear it like a dress to an Art Gallery opening, or slip on a pair of pants for an evening of theatre! This is one dress that never fails in exuding regal grace and charm.
