Lucknow - a city of Gold & Silver!! In Kenize Mourad's historical part history part fiction "In the City of Gold & Silver", Lucknow amongst Awadh is detailed as a land of Gold & Silver symbiotic. It is a symbolism for the syncretic culture of Awadh, where two ideologies or thoughts had a place to survive together. It also symbolises the rich court of Awadh dynasty, where the aristocracy spent its days in the riches that the fertile Indo Gangetic plains yielded, and immersed themselves in Art, Culture, Music, Poetry. The book had a profound effect on us to create two such weaves - Gold Zari Silk & Silver Zari Silk. A symbol of the now lost Awadh.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
Gold Zari Silk Dupatta is a unique weave commissioned by Meiraas. Pure Zari in Taana, Pure Zari in Baana & little bit of Pure Silk to bind this Work of Art together. The Rich Weave has been then adorned with Resham Chikankari in Heritage motifs. This is a first time such a dupatta has ever been made in Chikankari, & likely this status will remain for a long time. The richness of the weave & Embroidery will be more enhanced when the dupatta is in the hands of the patron, it is like wearing a sheet of Molten Gold. The dupatta has vintage CROWN motif that dates back almost 2 centuries & was literally dug out from the rubble like a relic of archeology. - Artisan Skill enhancement: Revival of old Bijli boota (named by Artisan), commissioned and researched by Meiraas from old archived images of Chikankari.
- Archival Project: The motif on the sleeve is 200 years old at least (please see Reels on Meiraas IG to see the make and texture of old wooden motif). Revival of front & back motif with reference from Chikankari archives.
- Handloom Cotton fabric
- Minimalist pattern of dress makes the heritage motifs more usable, as they are intricate and delicate and cannot be used in current work style of fast and rough work.
- Handmade in India
- The length is 49 inches and reaches on the lower calf, you can have this reduced as per your height as the dress is Made on Order.
- Colours can be customised (Azo Free Only) as the dress is Made on Order, along with the embroidery colour. Please DM on Meiraas IG, or Whatsapp at 9810119795 for more.
- Chikankari garments are translucent by nature as they are mostly made on lighter cottons & in natural white or pastel shades. To wear a slip/layering inner wear underneath is subjective to the wearer's comfort. We are only providing the dress.

Beautiful Simple Shibori saree in colours of Phagun - Pink, Blue, Yellow.
The process of making the saree:
1. The saree is simply hand embroidered & then loose threads at the back are pulled to create Resist.
2. The saree is dyed multiple times in different shades in Ombre dyeing style
3. This is further enhanced with Hand Block Print selvedge. Only this part is Handloom cotton, the rest of saree is Powerloom Cotton.
PLEASE NOTE: THE NAME IS MERELY INDICATIVE OF THE SHADE OF SAREE IN A RHETORIC MANNER. THE SAREE IS DYED USING AZO FREE COLOURS ONLY. ONLY THE SELVEDGE FABRIC HANDLOOM USING NATURAL DYES IN BLOCK PRINT PATTERN.
Please note that for any high quality brand the detailing is very critical. Using a better quality fabric in selvedge ensures that the colours of selvedge do not bleed, or air bubbles are not formed later in the fabric that create spots all over the selvedge. These minute attention to detail habits create long lastings sustainable products
IMP: Shibori or any Tie & Dye Art will have minor spots of colours, as that is the nature & charm of real Tie & Dye. Please keep that into consideration before placing an order. Resplendent & Graceful!! This saree is Pure Joy to wear & also behold. This Handloom Chanderi saree has Gold Zari running all through the saree with Kadhua Boota on the palla. It is adorned with Fine Chikankari of Flower Vases & Fruit bowl motifs that are more than 200 years old & were possibly used for Block Prints, an alternate craft that would have existed in Lucknow, and now is no more in existence. The regal saree has rice shade floral motifs done in Ghaspatti & Murri on the top part & the Palla & Pleats have the dual Heritage Motifs. The gorgeous saree is finished with Gold Gota lace to finish the look.
