Khayal (Moodboard):

“Chakkalika” is an old Hindi word emanating from Sanskrit language that means Trellis Drapes. These trellis patterns were traditionally woven in a bamboo grass curtain to act as drapes, that mellowed the harshness of the scorching Sun, into a lilting lullaby of an afternoon. Trellis is also a central feature of Chikankari embroidery, right from stitch to pattern, and this blouse fabric is made in the same pattern of interlaced Trellis.

The artisans now call this pattern “Chakaliya Jaal”, a word which is a derivative of the ancient Chakkalika. This is how we carry unbroken traditions forward in language, habitat, drapes, crafts, etc.

This Chikankari & Mukaish Chanderi Top/Blouse fabric is a White on White ethereal beauty & sufficient to make a short lined jacket to be worn over sarees, skirts, atop dresses etc. It is a spectacular & rare piece of art. Please get it fully lined when getting it stitched.
