This saree feels like a full delicate Indian Garden dumped beautifully on butter silk folds of the saree.
Cotton Silk is one of the most popular fabric produced by India. Cotton Silk of every state in India differs from the other & just the tracing of this beautiful buttery fabric, whether Handloom or Powerloom, is an absolute delight.
Meiraas presents Butter Yellow Royale Rajnigandha saree on Cotton Silk.
This saree has a stunning palla composition starting with intricate floral creepers & two distinct Floral Arts inside clever geometric patterns. The rest of the saree has stunning bel boota all over it. This is a delight for any night or day functions, or even in festivities like Navratra & Pujo.
The saree is embroidered by our regular unit & is yet another example of how we managed to create highly skilled craft from a unit that was accustomed to making rough & unskilled work.
When you choose to add this saree to your wardrobe, you contribute towards encouraging skilled & improved craftsmanship for artisans who toiled for over 1 year in creating these wonders.
Additional Details:
The Model in the picture is of 5ft 7.5 inches height & is wearing no heels.
Colours like Blue, Red & Green are a little difficult in catching the exact colour. However, we are posting the closest colour here. Some variation in colour will happen due to digital medium of viewing the product.
The motifs used in this saree are generally used for Pure Georgette sarees. In the local language of the artisans they called "Pure ka Boota" (meaning expensive motif). The motifs generally used for everyday Cotton Sarees are unskilled and are referred to as "chaalu kaam" (basic work) in their local parlance. The usage of this motif gave them an opportunity to work upon designs that they generally never get, thereby enhancing their skill set.
Jaali Stitch - fast vanishing from all artisans skill set, the Jaali stitch now remains a cynosure of premium Chikankari units only. The bargain basement embroidery market has completely devolved the artisan skill in Chikankari. We got them back to practising Jaali stitch by commissioning the same on Rajnigandha saree. (please refer to last image for reference, as initial photos did not have Jaali. The last image is taken indoors with mobile phone to show jaali).
Khayal (moodboard):"Rajnigandha Collection was born out of my love of 70s effortless and relatable genre of Hindi Cinema, and the look of the heroines of such films, who felt closer to the women in my family & around me – my mother, my aunts, my teachers – all of whom were heroines in their own life, and were changing the societal mindset, to accept women who knew their mind, could go out & work, or homemakers who needed personal time, have a life and defined choices, while taking their family along in this journey. It was an interesting time!!
Rajnigandha was especially chosen for Chikankari sarees, because they were heavily worn by women of all age groups in Lucknow, light worked ones and heavier Tepchi ones in pretty sorbet & pastel shades.
The collection is also my heart collective, as it involves Artisan Skill Enhancement at each level, along with using good quality handwoven cotton fabric, all of which has completely disappeared from Chikankari everyday sarees."- Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, MeiraasPoshaak (about the saree): An oblong Cypress Boota, a rare find, anoints itself on this beautiful Chikankari saree, that we choose to call Black Currant. The motif is extremely rare, and has beautiful & very rare Jaali stitch done in cotton thread, a rarity now in everyday Chikankari sarees.
It is a beautiful Lavender hued saree, that needs very little to dress it up or down for various occasions.
Wear it for office with silver jewellery, or brunch with friends with well chosen Tribal Jewels.
This is Amber Charkha spun (non motorised) & Handwoven soft Cotton from West Bengal. It is embroidered with intricate Cypress motif, a rare motif to be found in Lucknow, with intricate workmanship and most importantly Jaali embroidery (please refer to last image). Rest of the saree has small floral bootis all over.
It is a perfect light office/lunch/brunch/casual wear saree, yet one that will make heads turn. The drape is perfect for any weather.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Padma is a Sanskrit name for Lotus. Amongst flowers, Lotus, has a cosmic significance in our culture, with the beautiful flower considered as as adornment for our deities like - Sri Lakshmi, Sri Vishnu, Sri Yamuna Maharani. Sri Lakshmi is also know as Padmavati - or the one who holds the Lotus; Sri Vishnu or Sri Krishna are called PadmaLochana - or the one with Lotus like soft eyes; Our deities are connected to this beautiful flower, as humans consider Lotus to be the grandest flower amongst them, and offer only the best to their deity. The colour of this saree is inspired by the various shades of Lotus seen in old paintings and descriptions of them in various scriptures.
POSHAAK (about the saree): Padma is a gorgeous Kota Silk Mukaish saree with Ombre pink dyeing technique, with the top portion of the saree being light onion pink, and graduating to dark berry pink, as we move towards the bottom part of the saree. The Gold Mukaish daana is heavier on palla of the saree, and lighter on the body. The gossamer Kota Silk fabric makes the saree look ethereal for Festive wear.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Elizabeth Bennett is the central protagonist of Pride & Prejudice (1813), a legendary classic by Jane Austen. She is one of the five lovely Bennett sisters, & is now considered amongst the greatest heroines of English Classic Literature. Elizabeth is "second only to Jane in beauty & countenance", yet her most endearing aspect is her cynicism tempered with her sweet nature. With all the traits that Jane has & keeps each separate from the other, Elizabeth's character is a beautifully aligned composition of each one of them in a neat & witty package. This is why this buttery Organza Dupatta with three diverse colours of Pink, Yellow & Blue in one Motif symbolises Elizabeth the best, & as an evolved version of Jane.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): Natural White Handloom Organza Dupatta with pure tested Gold & Silver Zari borders, embroidered with delicate Bijli Boota re created by Meiraas from an archived block. This block has 3 master cutwork stitches in one motif - Hool, Jaali & Hathkati along with other wtitches like Phanda, Orma & Shadow. It is a rare masterpiece!
Imp: Colours may vary a bit, although they are all shot professionally in studio set up & closest colour has been photographed; Any variation can be due to digital medium of photography that is outside our control.

Rare Hand Embroidery: Nuanced Tepchi Hand Embroidery in full jaal using Resham Thread
Handloom Kota Doria: A rarity in itself now. We came upon this batch with great difficulty as most of the Kota available now in market is not handwoven.
KHAYAL (moodboard): Catherine Earnshaw is one of the central characters of Wuthering Heights (1847), an iconic & solo work of Emily Bronte. Wuthering Heights is tumultuous, raw, untamed, complex. While many readers feel that is a symbolism of its male protagonist, Heathcliff, I have always felt that the wild English moors of this novel symbolise Catherine, its female protagonist. I felt Heathcliff reacted to everything that was Catherine. Catherine is extremely complex; raised to be a lady & aspiring to be one too, she however loves untamed wildness. The intricate jaal work of this dupatta and its creamy sophistication alongside, makes us name it Catherine.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): Cream Handloom Kota Dupatta embroidered with delicate full jaal tone on tone Tepchi Chikankari in floral & paisley pattern. Last image is taken against a backlight. The crochet lace detailing in cream colour is a signature style of Meiraas & adds to the character of the dupatta.
Imp: Colours may vary a bit, although they are all shot professionally in studio set up & closest colour has been photographed; Any variation can be due to digital medium of photography that is outside our control.
Please Note: Only the dupatta is for sale in this post

KHAYAL (moodboard): A Tale of two Dynasties
Maheshwar & Awadh come together to tell each other the stories of their glorious past & their surviving present!! The Maheshwari Sarees are woven taking inspiration from the city of Maheshwar and Narmada River. Each border & palla motifs are woven as an homage to this historic city!! Hoe beautiful would it be if Awadh also came on board to tell its stories by motifs inspired by its own essence. The Khayal is a marriage of two beautiful ideologies & their rich crafts.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
A beautiful woven Resham Border inspired by Maheshwar Fort adorns this cheerful Pink & Green beauty on which we have got Paisley Chikankari Motif embroidered that is 200 plus years old!! The embroidery is statement like with two motifs on either side of Palla width & then small floral motifs on the Palla. These small motifs get sparse as we enter the body of the saree. This ensures that either Art is not engulfing the other & both stand out symbiotically.

Meiraas Bestseller Chikankari design since its first launch in 2018, the Power of Silence, Dance of the Cranes motif has been one of our most requested motifs. 1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery on absolutely novel motif art.
2. Exclusive Dance of the Cranes Meiraas motifs carved following all processes.
3. Handloom Chanderi
4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (mood-board):
The outskirts of the historic & charming city of Lucknow are equally beautiful in their rustic charm. These ancient Indo Gangetic plains are lush with greenery & boasts of one of World's oldest agrarian civilisation. Watching the emerald landscape of Awadh is a surreal experience, even more so in winters when dotted with the migratory bird population, the most notable of these being the Siberian Cranes, that never enter the city Lucknow, but stay just outside, especially in Nawabgunj Bird Sanctuary. With this concept in mind, we wanted to design motifs that glide in the night sky in a Yin & Yang appeal; we found the desirable art style of these motifs, very surprisingly, in Japan. The ancient Japanese Art style is dramatically circular in design, & it is here that we found our serendipity, the right manner to display the Nawabgunj Cranes. The motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018. Borrowing from Japanese palette, we designed the motifs keeping Chikankari stitches in mind, that best romance the gliding flight of the Siberian Cranes.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
The cranes are falling, gliding, flying & finally in a circular Dance of Love at the statement back, in this Meiraas Exclusive Kurta made on Handloom Chanderi. The lace detailing on the neckline adds charm & romance to the ethereal Kurta. The Amethyst colour kurta with White Chikankari Embroidery and on buttery Pure Chanderi base is perfect to create the right drama, and yet have a classic appeal.
