Yakshi Nadi - The River Goddess
Yakshi is the Goddess of Love, Passion, Nurturing, Power. Yakshi is the Goddess of Feminine Power. Yakshi Nadi (yellow) is our ode to the River Goddesses, whom we consider as our Mothers since the start of time. River is much more than a water body for us, She is a celestial mother who takes care of us. Yakshi Nadi shows the amalgamation of flora & fauna that are life supported by the power of our River Goddesses. The photograph with the model holding the water vessel is a throwback to Mother Ganga and Mother Yamuna sculptures in ancient temples holding water vessels (signifying their contribution to nurture life).
Yakshi is a celestial nymph mentioned in Ancient Puranic texts and epics like Ramayan and Mahabharat. The khayal to name this collection, Yakshi came with the Temple Art of India, like Khajuraho group of temples; the celestial nymphs are set in stone in the most beautiful expressions in these temples. They have been made with such devotion and aesthetics that one can imagine them coming to life at night, and reliving the days of past glory!!
Linen as a fabric was extensively worn in almost all Ancient Civilisations. In fact some sources suggest the possibility of white on white embroidery being worn in Chandragupta Maurya's court; some ancient texts also talk of the legendary Maharaja Harshvardhan of Kashmir, only wearing White on White embroidered fabric.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
Nadi saree has the Meiraas exclusive Kabootarbaazi motif running on the palla; signifying life of flora and fauna due to the nurturing nectar that is provided by our rivers. The border is a stunning floral bel running through the saree, and the body has small floral bootis scattered all over.
Styling Tip: Like most Meiraas creations, this saree can be dressed up & down for multiple occasions, whether work wear or party wear. It has its own charm in both situations.
Please Note: Slight wrinkles are part of Pure Linen texture. Linen is the most low maintenance fabric. Ideally before draping this saree, take it out and spread it and hang somewhere at least a day before; its wrinkles will smoothen significantly. Mostly it should be worn with slight wrinkles, yet if you wish to iron the dhobi press will be fine, with a cloth on top.

The saree shows Floral Motifs to signify the power of Nature's birth through the energy of Sun.

Falaknuma motifs were created by Meiraas in 2018, and all of them were paying an ode to the iconographies rooted in the culture of Awadh; Chess Pieces & a Game of Chess was one of them.
Taking inspiration from celebrated Indian author, Munshi Premchand's story, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, we created Bisaat. Celebrated Indian Filmmaker, Satyajit Ray, also made a classic adaptation of this story in 1977.
Bisaat or the chessboard was the biggest conversation starter in Awadh; this past legacy has been recreated on this showstopper Kurta
POSHAAK (about the dress): This is a Pure Linen Yellow Kurta with Bisaat motifs of Badshah (King), Wazir (Minister), Haathi (Elephant) & Ghoda (Horse), which were re created as a reference from pieces used in playing chess during the times of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah.

We dreamt of Chikankari on Linen, with small wisps of Resham Blossoms of the craft sprouting on the fabric, like spring invoking the birth of fresh flowers from the Earth, after the first melting of the snow. We wanted the moodboard to be Soft Romance of nature against a gossamer, sustainable fabric.

Handloom Linen Tunic with lace detailing & Resham Chikankari done on the front & back of beautiful purple Jacaranda blossoms.

A rare classic of a Kurta, Jyamiti is a Royal Blue linen kurta, with 3 Taar Resham Tepchi Chikankari done allover the front & sleeves, to make it a grand royal attire, but with relaxed maximalism moodboard.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Fine Tepchi Work:Â This kurta has the rare 1 daana Tepchi work, where each stitch of tepchi looks like a small grain, making the embroidery style look extremely neat & subtle, yet impactful. This kind of Tepchi is rarely done in the commercial, or even premium market now.
Sustainable fabric base - Pure Linen/Tussar Silk (choice of either as per order)
Bespoke stitching.
KHAYAL (moodboard): Jyamiti is the Sanskrit word for Geometry, one of the ancient most sciences from our land. Geometry is a gift of the Gods to humans, that first took birth in India, and from there travelled the World over. The progress that we have seen since the inception of humanity, is possible due to this ancient science. It has governed not only the space of Scientific accuracy, but has also permeated towards Arts, because of its rich complexity, and profound core. Many Textile Arts show beautiful patterns of Jyamiti, and Chikankari is not behind. In fact, Geometrical motifs are most suited to bring out the beauty of a well done Tepchi Chikankari, and is primarily used in a classic Tepchi work.
POSHAAK (about the dress): This is a Pure Linen Kurta/Tussar Silk Kurta (choice of either fabric as per order) in plush Royal Blue colour. The embroidery is done in 1 daana Tepchi style where each running stitch of Tepchi is not more than the size of a small grain. This is a time intensive and fine process, that lends a very regal & neat look to the Kurta, thereby bringing out the complexity & beauty of Jyamiti.
The front panel & sleeves are fully embroidered, and the back has a single motif to balance out the look. The embroidery is done in Resham Chikankari.
Additional Details: The Kurta is Made on Order only. It is a rarity & will take time to get made, as only a handful of very skilled artisans can even make it. Please feel free to give your custom sizing (please specify body or garment sizing), in case you don't find your perfect fit in our size chart.

A rare classic of a Kurta, Syamantak Mani is a white pure linen kurta, with 2 Taar Chikankari done on re-created motifs of late 19th-early 20th century artwork. The kurta is a rarity that the men in maximalist Nawab era used to enjoy.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Re-Created motifs, commissioned by Meiraas, using late 19th & early 20th Century Chikankari motifs as an example. The references have been drawn from Textiles housed in state & national museums and well researched archival works on the subject.
Exclusive Meiraas motifs carved following all traditional processes. No tracing of artwork.
Use of the Crown Motif which belongs to early 20th Century, and is now with Meiraas unit.
2 Taar Chikankari - the motifs used here are a re-creation of late 19th century artwork, therefore the work could only be done using 2 Taar Chikankari, to embroider on each intricate detail.
Rare stitches used in embroidery like Kaante, Hool, Jaali, Phanda, Rahet, Ghaspatti, Chanapatti vis a vis maximum 2-3 common stitches used in Kurtas.
Sustainable fabric base - Pure Handwoven Linen.
Bespoke stitching.
KHAYAL (moodboard): The legendary Syamantak Gem, mentioned in Vishnu Purana & Bhagwad Purana, is believed to the the famed Kohinoor. Legends say that Syamantak Mani was originally the jewel of the Sun God. It was granted by him to a devotee of his, who belonged to the Yadava clan of Sri Krishna. It was believed that wherever Syamantak was placed with devotion, and not greed, it would heap prosperity on that land. However if passed on or snatched away, it would create the opposite energy, equally potent as its positive energy. Predictably, as is the human greed, the Syamantak was lost, and is believed to be Koh-i-noor.
The Crown motif of this Kurta and its jaw dropping intricate 2 Taar embroidery made us name it Syamantak, alluding to The Crown with this famed jewel.
POSHAAK (about the dress): This is a Pure Linen Kurta in its natural colour. The embroidery motifs used here are all commissioned by Meiraas using images of late 19th century archival Chikankari images, and the Crown Motif is an extremely old one (possibly from early 20th Century).
The back has a stunning re-created motif of Inverted Paan and below it is a motif of inverted, ornate minaret. These works are archived in scholarly works of textile art, we have re-created them in our own way. The embroidery done here is 2 Taar Chikankari.
The sleeves have the minaret, and the whole Kurta body is sprinkled with the Crown motif. The embroidery has been done in Beige & Natural White, in keeping with the work observed in the early 20th Century Textile, to create the closest effect.
The Kurta embroidery is an amalgamation of rare stitches most of which are painstakingly hand cut ones, the prime ones being Kaante (two stitches merged in one embroidery), Jaali, Hool, Ghaspatti, Murri (rice grain). This makes the Kurta a class apart creation that one would love to cherish as part of an Heirloom Collection & pass it on to future generations, who might preserve your legacy as an heirloom, and maybe in a well curated Art & Textile show in the future, can display the taste their ancestor had.
Additional Details: The Kurta is Made on Order only. It is a rarity & will take time to get made, as only a handful of very skilled artisans can even make it. Please feel free to give your custom sizing (please specify body or garment sizing), in case you don't find your perfect fit in our size chart.
