KHAYAL (moodboard): Lucknow has its own way of naming various colours; a colloquial shade chart, if you will. No one says Pink or Hot Pink over there, but we have grown up hearing names like Roohafza Gulaabi, Gajari, Rani and Gulkandi, for various shades of Pink. As soon as someone would say Gulkandi, the mind would immediately travel to the sweetness of the indigenous condiment in Paan, or in summer shakes. There was a particular, brillinat Pink shade of Gulkandi shake, that made us name this dupatta in its memory. Luckhnavis pay more attention to the feel evoked by a colour's name, than its literal accuracy. This is why Lucknow has its own way of calling shade names, which are also mentioned by the city's historian, late Padmashree Dr Yogesh Praveen ji, in his books.
POSHAAK (about the garment): This brilliantly pink Dupatta has 2 motif play of antique miniature peacock, and jasmine flower in an interplay upon the buttery Chanderi fabric. The dupatta is locked using a ghaspatti & shadow bel on all 4 sides. It has a generous smattering of Mukaish embroidery, that makes it look even more beautiful.
The dupatta has stitches like Orma, Ghaspatti, Hool, Phanda, Murri stitch in the Peacock motif alone!! The jasmine flower has stitches like Keel, Kangan and Ghaspatti.
It is a beautiful wrap that will not be limited to be worn on Indian wear only, but can be taken on classic black coloured gowns or jumpsuits as well.

Antique Masterclass Jaali Chikankari Hand Embroidery Dupatta on handwoven Organza with Ganga Jamuna borders of Tested Zari Gold & Silver on either side.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Century plus antique Chikankari motif found and restored for use.
Masterclass Jaali stitch using Zari filament, which is extremely difficult to do.
Sustaining highest quality of Jaali stitch as centrepiece, which is almost vanishing from the craft or getting replaced with sequins and cutdana.
Handwoven Pure Organza Silk with tested Zari borders of Gold & Silver, making it a Hand embroidered and Hand Woven wholesome piece of wearable art.
KHAYAL (moodboard): If Chikankari embroidery is Poetry on Textile, then Jaali stitch is its Evocative Drama!! Jaali is an exceptionally brilliant optical illusion created on fabric by the hands of the karigars, where they replicate the trellis pattern of windows. Windows through which the first rays of sunshine sieve and enter a dark room, and spread their warmth in an alluring pattern. Windows through which the silver glow of a full Moon, enters in a cosmic colour play of calmness. Jaali has more spiritual connect with the artisans than we can think; maybe this is what makes the stitch the high point of Chikankari art.
POSHAAK (about the garment): The Antique Ambi motif is a Century plus old motif. The Jaali work on this motif is done using Qasab or Zari filament, which is the toughest level of Jaali stitch done on any fabric. To top this, this intricate hand cut stitch has been done on cloud like pure Organza Silk. Teasing the fabric apart to the precise extent, and creating perfect trellis pattern with Zari Filament (which is almost invisible to the eye), is the speciality of this heirloom Dupatta. It is a piece of wearable art that you would love to pass on generation to generation.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Have you ever seen Lucknow's famous 500 plus year old dessert recipe, Malai Gilauri? For those who have not, it is Malai or Khurchan cooked over hours, that is removed from the sides of a paan, when cooled down. The layer of cooked Malai is then decorated with many beautiful condiments - pistachios, almonds, sugar, kewra water - before rolling into a Gilauri. The process just before making the Gilauri is a beautiful sight. This motif with the finest stitches of most beautiful & complex embroidery, and Jaali stitch, reminds us of the Gilauri, just before getting folded and bound into a mouthful of sweet bliss.
POSHAAK (about the garment): This dupatta has 3 Malai Gilauri motifs along the centre length, making it look full, yet not overwhelming, so that the extremely beautiful Gilauri motif looks clutter free and neat, resting upon delicate Organza. A subtle stunner!! Small floral bootis accompany this one of a kind dupatta.

"When i had started wearing sarees, my first inhibition was that they are uncomfortable to drape, carry and not functional in day to day work. This myth was successfully busted by Bengal Handwoven Cottons. Fluid & dreamy and easy to drape, i started wearing them to my Corporate office (HBO). I was met with awed looks (after asking it the day was "special"). Gradually my office colleagues back then got used to seeing me in a saree, which was a refreshing change from the multitude of fast fashion mall tops & pants. The ladies in my office would tell me how much they admire the simple and impactful sarees that look romantic and comfortable, & how their sarees are only wedding trousseau sarees, all unwearable, and packed in their trunks. Bengal Cottons thus remains close to my heart. If any one has to start wearing sarees they must choose from Bengal first" - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas

" What is the equivalent to the classic white button down shirt with context to Sarees? My answer will always be the Indigo Bagru Block Print Cotton Saree. The essential saree for all saree wardrobes. You just cannot go wrong with it. I wore mine to temples, office, lunch with extended family, in fact in June month i even dressed it up with heavy silver jewellery for my in laws' 50th anniversary in a temple to astounding compliments from all ladies sweating in heavy brocade silks. I breezed in and out with ease." - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
Indigo Hand Block Print Bagru saree on softest Kota Doria with Zari border. A Must Have in every saree wardrobe. Perfect for office, perfect for casual lunch/brunch with girlfriends. The safest choice when confused which saree to wear is an Indigo Bagru Print saree.
Note: This is actual Indigo dye & not the chemical variety popularly available. This dye will bleed a little bit, which is normal. Simply wash in cold water with mild detergent & gentle hands.
"One of my favourite things to do when on vacation is to walk on rustly leaves that have fallen from the trees. Yellow & Orange leaves forming a soft carpet to lightly tread upon with silence all around, broken only by the mellow sighting of a singing thrush or gurgling of a water body. Kota Silk is dear to me as unlike Doria it rustles more due to Silk yarn. While the sarees are soft and light to drape, they feel distinctly different from Kota Doria. I have dressed my own Kota Silks with polki jewellery always. While i receive compliments on how easily i carry weaves that normally one does not wear to family gatherings, I smile thinking of my walk on the carpet of the freshly fallen foliage. As they carpet our walk, they also remind us that new life is germinating on the bare branches above" - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
