ARTISANAL CHIKANKARI BY MEIRAAS

KHAYAL (moodboard): In the annals of Victoria & Albert Museum, London, are housed multitude Indian treasures of high quality craftsmanship dating back to many millennia of skilled artistry. One of these is a Chintz gown from the year 1775-80, with Indian Aari hand embroidery so intricate, that it almost looks like a print, not an embroidery, showcasing the fine workmanship associated with India’s textile & embroidery heritage (please see last image for reference). The gown showcases the English Garden, and we re-created one of its motifs, of a floral bouquet, in 2 Taar Resham Aari work, on a lovely blouse of Pure Organza Silk.

POSHAAK (about the dress): The English Garden blouse, has the re-created 18th century motif of bouquet of flowers, in 2 Taar very fine Resham Aari Hand Embroidery on the back as statement motif. The romantic tulip like bell sleeves of the blouse are kissed with a delicate floral motif each, and the front is detailed with a classic sweetheart neckline and hand made fabric buttons.
