This motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018.

KHAYAAL (moodboard):
Amer
The Rajasthani Floral art of Amer motif has mesmerised us, since we first laid eyes on it, during our travel in 2010. It is simple, yet an attractive motif of a flower vase encased inside an aala. The original motif is made using molten glass as paint. We always wanted to showcase this motif in a Muakish saree in exactly the manner of the original artwork in Amer Fort.
The Golden Trellis motif is designed after the round Trellis water reserve covers designed so aesthetically in Amer Fort!! It was a sheer delight to see the level of Indian Art & Aesthetic sense to even design an otherwise drab water reserve tops with such skill.
This saree is reminiscent of the Maharanis of India & their Royal Splendour. The dainty Organza or Chiffon sarees, the delicate Mukaish embroidery on them, the vintage Basra pearls around their slender necks and their regal style!! One of our most beautiful memories of a past gone by.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
Clouds of White Organza are held down with the glamour of Gold!!
Amer Mukaish or Kaamdaani Saree has Meiraas Exclusive motif of a flower vase encased inside an aala, as seen in Amer Fort. The saree has this grand and exclusive motif on the Palla. The Rest of this showstopper concept saree has dainty Mukaish daana all over.
In between these Mukaish daana however lies the real beauty - The circular Golden Trellis or round diskettes made in rarest of rare - Kamdaani Jaali Embroidery!! A one of a kind rarity!!
Imp: While the saree images here show scalloping on the palla, we will instead finish the saree with white silk selvedge only.
The saree can be dyed and made also on request in a colour patron chooses.
Storage: Please store safely in the cloth bag we provide. Air it after every few months.

Yakshi Amer
The Rajasthani Floral art of Amer motif has mesmerised us, since we first laid eyes on it, during our travel in 2010. It is simple, yet an attractive motif of a flower vase encased inside an aala. The original motif is made using molten glass as paint. We always wanted to showcase this motif in both Chikankari as well as Mukaish.
Yakshi is a celestial nymph mentioned in Ancient Puranic texts and epics like Ramayan and Mahabharat. The khayal to name this collection, Yakshi came with the Temple Art of India, like Khajuraho group of temples; the celestial nymphs are set in stone in the most beautiful expressions in these temples. They have been made with such devotion and aesthetics that one can imagine them coming to life at night, and reliving the days of past glory!!
Linen as a fabric was extensively worn in almost all Ancient Civilisations. In fact some sources suggest the possibility of white on white embroidery being worn in Chandragupta Maurya's court; some ancient texts also talk of the legendary Maharaja Harshvardhan of Kashmir, only wearing White on White embroidered fabric.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
Amer has Meiraas Exclusive motif of a flower vase encased inside an aala, as seen in Amer Fort. The saree has this grand and exclusive motif on the Palla. The motif showcases masterclass Jaali (hand cutwork) embroidery of 2 kinds - Katori (squares like jaali) and Siddhaul (regular Jaali), both made in Kasab Gold Taar, making the process more skilled and time consuming. The vase has an outline of another cutwork - Double Hathkati.
It is a rare example of masterclass Chikankari. Rest of the palla has small floral motif in shadow embroidery. The same motif is scattered far apart in the body of the saree saree till the end.
The colour scheme is soft pastel on pastel play of - pastel grey & light lime. One of a kind!
Styling Tip: Like most Meiraas creations, this saree can be dressed up & down for multiple occasions, whether work wear or party wear. It has its own charm in both situations.
Imp: Some threads of the fabric shift at times due to round frame of Chikankari embroidery & nature of fabric. This is normal and nothing to worry about.
Please Note: Slight wrinkles are part of Pure Linen texture. Linen is the most low maintenance fabric. Ideally before draping this saree, take it out and spread it and hang somewhere at least a day before; its wrinkles will smoothen significantly. Mostly it should be worn with slight wrinkles, yet if you wish to iron the dhobi press will be fine, with a cloth on top.

Kesar Kulfi - Saffron doused, slow cooked by mother's hands, frozen to perfection, un-moulded & served with dollops of love first to family deity, then as prasad to the whole family; this is the indelible memory attached with Lucknow summers and Kesar Kulfi. We thought of re-creating this colour on a Flared Pant.

POSHAAK (about the product):
Nawabi is a tunic designed taking references from Bengal style neckline that was very much in vogue right uptil 70s. Largely used for mens' fashion in the past, we have made the design gender neutral by creating it for women.
This is self woven pattern (Jaquard) Pure Cotton Chikankari Kurta with beautiful chanapatti, shadow, phanda (hand cutwork) stitches, with Mother of Pearl button detailing.
The shade of the Kurta: ECRU
What is ECRU? Ecru is an un-White colour; meaning a white that has subtle hint of another colour. At Meiraas, we are exploring an un-White colour palette, and Ecru is a colour we have successfully replicated after many trials on fabric samples.
Ecru is generally of two kind - White with hint of olive green, White with hint of olive brown. While both Ecru are ethereal, we lean more towards the green tint; so summer fresh and elegant.
Important:
Chikankari garments are translucent by nature as they are mostly made on lighter cottons & in natural white or pastel shades. To wear a slip underneath is subjective to the wearer's comfort

KHAYAL (moodboard): Jane Eyre (1847) is an English Classic Novel penned by Charlotte Bronte under her pseudonym Currer Bell. Jane Eyre is an extremely moving story of an orphan who, despite the bleakness of her situation in life, aspires & hopes to find life, light & love, and eventually through her own journey finds everything she wished for. Her chance for hope is symbolised by lemon yellow embroidery (colour of hope), against the coldness of white. This dupatta is Jane Eyre.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): White Handloom Kota Dupatta embroidered with stark lemon yellow delicate Tepchi Chikankari in floral pattern. Last image is taken against a backlight.
Imp: Colours may vary a bit, although they are all shot professionally in studio set up & closest colour has been photographed; Any variation can be due to digital medium of photography that is outside our control.

Artisan Skill Enhancement: The artisan unit that has embroidered this Chikankri Saree had never worked on a saree before or done skilled stitch work. They had never even worked on any pure fabric & only did "shadow" "phanda" stitches for fast moving Chikan goods. Such nuanced work enhanced their skill and gives them better chance of earning more.
Slow Layout of Embroidery: The embroidery layout is in typical style of an Heirloom saree with more designs and even Shadow work. This breaks away from the allover simple Tepchi embroidery that is the norm of fast moving Chikan work.
Non Motorised Amber Charkha Spun Fabric yarn.
Handwoven high count Cotton Saree

Khayal (moodboard): Rajnigandha collection is inspired by Everyday Effortless charm of saree draping from 1970s-80s, when the ladies of our homes used to drape sarees for everyday chores, & not just for occasions. There was a certain careless abandon in this style, that made the drapes very relatable and one with the wearer, which is an emotion missing now from saree draping. Since the collection finds its muse in 1970s middle cinema heroines, like Vidya Sinha, the names are kept reminiscent of the romance of those ages!! Thandi Chhaon (Cool Shade) is a slice of life name, that is evocative of the simple yet soulful era!!
Poshaak (about the saree):
To create this one of a kind Tepchi with Shadow embroidery layout, we re-imagined this saree in the style of design layout that is usually reserved for pure georgette Chikankari sarees; only, we gave this a twist suited best for good quality Tepchi embroidery. Instead of an allover same embroidery pattern, that is normal with Tepchi, we broke the palla layout into interesting panels to include more nuanced motifs & even included a Shadow stitch motif. This makes the layout of the saree unique, and allows the artisans to enhance their skill in Tepchi embroidery. Please remember, that only constant practise and challenges makes crafts perfect.
We absolutely love Tepchi Chikankari. The delicate Tepchi is quite literally Summer embroidered on your saree.
However, off late the Tepchi we have started getting in markets is a travesty. You will be lucky to find a really good quality Tepchi for office or casual wear. We have worked very hard on this saree to create a fantastic Tepchi & some shadow work masterpiece, along with Handwoven fabric!! This is a true collector's delight.
The Grey hue is unconventional & outstanding , making it a perfect & must have Chikankari wear.
Creating a Chikankari saree on Handspun Handwoven Cotton weave was always our dream. We have been successful in finding the perfect sustainable drape for our delicately embroidered sarees.
This is our Bestseller Saree since year 2020, and has been brought back into stock 4th time now. It is a perfect light office/lunch/brunch/casual wear saree, yet one that will make heads turn. The drape is perfect for any weather.
IMP: The model is 5ft 7.5 inches and is without heels in the shoot.
Styling Tip: Wear with Dopehri Cotton Chikankari Crop Top
Artisan Skill Enhancement: The motifs used in this saree are generally used by non premium work units for Viscose or Pure Georgette sarees. In their local language they called "Pure ka Boota" (meaning expensive motif). The motifs generally used for everyday Cotton Sarees are unskilled and are referred to as "chaalu kaam" (basic work) in their local parlance. The usage of this motif gave them an opportunity to work upon designs that they generally never get.

Khayal (moodboard):"Rajnigandha Collection was born out of my love of 70s effortless and relatable genre of Hindi Cinema, and the look of the heroines of such films, who felt closer to the women in my family & around me – my mother, my aunts, my teachers – all of whom were heroines in their own life, and were changing the societal mindset, to accept women who knew their mind, could go out & work, or homemakers who needed personal time, have a life and defined choices, while taking their family along in this journey. It was an interesting time!!
Rajnigandha was especially chosen for Chikankari sarees, because they were heavily worn by women of all age groups in Lucknow, light worked ones and heavier Tepchi ones in pretty sorbet & pastel shades.
The collection is also my heart collective, as it involves Artisan Skill Enhancement at each level, along with using good quality handwoven cotton fabric, all of which has completely disappeared from Chikankari everyday sarees." - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, MeiraasPoshaak (about the saree): We have named this saree Jamuni. This hue is one of the favourite ones in Meiraas. Jamun or Indian Java Plum is a fruit indigenous to Jambudwipa or India Subcontinent. We grew up on a diet of its lassi & shake that had this beautiful lilac colour, so pleasing and fresh to the eyes and senses!!
This is Amber Charkha spun (non motorised) & Handwoven soft Cotton from West Bengal. It is embroidered with intricate Paan motif, an endearing motif of Lucknow, that is reminiscent of the favourite mouth freshener Luckhnavis are addicted to. Rest of the saree has small floral bootis all over.
It is a perfect light office/lunch/brunch/casual wear saree, yet one that will make heads turn. The drape is perfect for any weather.
P.S: This saree shade is soft very Pastel Lilac.
