Sustaining highest quality of Jaali stitch as centrepiece, which is almost vanishing from the craft or getting replaced with sequins and cutdana.
Very fine resham taar Chikankari done with immense detailing inside the motif
Handwoven Pure Organza Silk with tested Zari borders of Gold & Silver, making it a Hand embroidered and Hand Woven wholesome piece of wearable art.
KHAYAL (moodboard): Have you ever seen Lucknow's famous 500 plus year old dessert recipe, Malai Gilauri? For those who have not, it is Malai or Khurchan cooked over hours, that is removed from the sides of a paan, when cooled down. The layer of cooked Malai is then decorated with many beautiful condiments - pistachios, almonds, sugar, rose water, gulkand - before rolling into a Gilauri. The process just before making the Gilauri is a beautiful sight. This motif with the finest stitches of most beautiful & complex embroidery in Pink & Peach, and Jaali stitch, reminds us of the Gulaab Gilauri, just before getting folded and bound into a mouthful of sweet bliss.
POSHAAK (about the garment): This dupatta has 3 Gulaab Gilauri motifs along the centre length, making it look full, yet not overwhelming, so that the extremely beautiful Gilauri motif looks clutter free and neat, resting upon delicate white Organza. A subtle stunner!! Small floral bootis accompany this one of a kind dupatta.
Important: You can email us at namaste@meiraas.com if you wish to plan a Kurta with this dupatta.
Reminiscent of the Bollywood divas of 1950s, the sarees in this collection aim at re living that timeless & elegant era, that is so close to the timelessness of Mukaish Embroidery. This Blazing Red Saree is adorned with delicate embroidery of Flight of Pigeons (original Meiraas motif) on palla in a triangle flight pattern, while rest of the saree is covered with stars of Mukaish. A Gold tissue facing gives the much needed finish to this beautiful saree.
THIS WAS ONCE A DUPATTA:
Apart from creating original Artisanal Chikankari, an emerging portfolio of Meiraas is the ZERO WASTE PROJECT.
Aimed at up-cycling, re-using, re-purposing absolutely beautiful craft pieces that the artisans are unable to sell for various reasons, like someone got them made on order & then did not buy or the artisan ended up making too fine a piece that they could not price well at their level & sell & is thus lying unused, or fine quality embroidery, but wrong structure of garment, hence unsold & unused. For example this dupatta was made wrongly like a cross between a Kurta Fabric & a Dupatta & ended up being structurally incorrect, though the hand embroidery was absolutely breathtaking.
Our team curates & acquires them at fair prices from the artisans. It helps them move their inventory too.
The pieces then arrive at our office in Faridabad, where they are redesigned keeping their work aesthetic in mind & taking out maximum possible from the pieces. While designing, our aim is also to make more versatile & multipurpose pieces, so that the patron can take out the maximum from their investment.
Once the design palette is finalised, the pieces are shipped to our Gurgaon unit for stitching with trademark Meiraas finish. Since in acquisition pieces we cannot be sure of fabric, we line them with high quality Cotton Fabric, with a unique stitching technique where the fabric outside does not touch your body, and the fabric inside is the only one that is enveloping your body. This ensures that we take care of your skin's health & yet re-use the fabric to the optimum level.
Thus we created this statement making Mandarin Orange colour blouse/crop top with delicate Tepchi Chikankari embroidery all over the blouse!!
This Blouse has Potli (Fabric) Button details & can be worn with Saree, Skirt, Pants or even as a Jacket atop a Kurta. It is one of a kind conversation starter & a positive step towards Circular & Conscious Fashion.
P.S: Colours can vary slightly despite our best efforts & high quality professional shoot. This is due to digital medium of photography & viewing device. Please keep that in mind before making the purchase.
Details: The fabric outside is Mill Made Blend. The Fabric inside is High Quality Ethical Powerloom Cotton dyed with Azo Free Dye.

SUSTAINABLE CHIKANKARI BY MEIRAASKHAYALÂ (mood-board): Patta Patta Boota Boota haal hamare jaane hain - Mir Taqi Mir, 1723-1810
The mood board inspiration for the motif is based on Mir Sahab's poem & the romance of floral frescoes in India, whether in architecture, art, poems and even textiles. This is a unique Meiraas motif inspired from Rajasthani & Mughal art, as Mir sahab was a jewel of Mughal court, & spent his later years in Lucknow court with Nawab Asaf-Ud-Daulah. This dress is an ode to Mir Sahab.
POSHAAK (about the dress): This Kota Doria Dress has two masterclass arts - Gota Pintucks & Rehsam Chikankari. The dress was first pintucked & inlaid with Silver Gota. The dupatta accompanying the dress is plain Kota Doria with Gota Edge detailing.

"Chakkalika" is an old Hindi word emanating from Sanskrit language that means Trellis Drapes. These trellis patterns were traditionally woven in a bamboo grass curtain to act as drapes, that mellowed the harshness of the scorching Sun, into a lilting lullaby of an afternoon. Trellis is also a central feature of Chikankari embroidery, right from stitch to pattern, and this blouse fabric is made in the same pattern of interlaced Trellis.
The artisans now call this pattern "Chakaliya Jaal", a word which is a derivative of the ancient Chakkalika. This is how we carry unbroken traditions forward in language, habitat, drapes, crafts, etc.
