As the name suggests, a lighter than clouds, floaty dress with the classic, museum quality, Awadhi Chikankari embroidery and classical tailoring! A Rarest of Rare piece of Art!
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery.
Matserclass Classical Tailoring – tough to achieve on Organza Silk
Special Focus on functionality today with a classic design.
Novel motif art & layout created using hand carved motifs following all processes.
Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well-researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (mood-board):
A dream…a desire...a reverie! A Walk in the Clouds! When textiles woven in looms were lighter than the air, when times were slow and carefree, when a life was well lived and had a wholesome purpose.
There was a time when Muslin woven by our weavers was lighter than the air. It was further anointed with the finest quality of Chikankari. The result was a dearer than life creation of beauty..a joy to just behold.
Those times are gone. That fabric doesn’t exist. But can we re-create, re-imagine and bring back a sliver of that beauty?! Yes we can.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
A Walk in the Clouds is a re imagination and re-creation of the famed, classical Muslin Chikankari Angrakha Kurtas, that are now found in handed down private collections or museums. We have done some changes, to make them more functional & wearable for today, as what is Art, if it can’t be worn & celebrated, with aplomb!
This classic cut was earlier, exclusively men’s kurta; we have re designed it to be dress for the ladies!
The Muslin is extinct now, but we have tried to re-create that beauty in Pure Organza Silk.
Since Organza is floaty, unlike Muslin, masterclass rare Murri embroidery (the Biryani Chawal stitch), has been done very skilfully on the panels to give weight to the dress and give it a flattering fall.
The Angrakha cut was very difficult to achieve in this fabric, and 1 master tailor alone can make this dress from start to finish. The Angrakha cut, enables the dress to be worn both opened as a throw on, or closed as a dress, thereby increasing its functionality.
The dress will come with a Satin Silk Silk Dress inside, to match (unless specified otherwise by the patron). This alone is enough for anyone to wear it as a dress.
The sleeves have been kept 3/4th to keep the look of the dress.
Apart from the masterclass murri neckline & kali detailing, the back has a statement motif with all rare & precious stitches! The dress is a beauty to behold!
While it doesn’t need, but if you wish to add plain Glazed Cotton pants in same shade to match, you can select the same from Glazed Cotton Plain Pants and in Customer Note mention: Please make Pants to match the selected dress. We will do the needful
This post has Kurta (stitching with lining/slip is complimentary) that can be shopped. Pants, if needed can be added extra, as explained above.
Please Note: This dress can easily be worn to many places, but since this work is very premium and the fabric, though strong, is delicate to handle, please take great care in storing it well in the cotton bag we provide. Meiraas is not liable for any mishandling of the dress.

KHAYAAL (moodboard):
The Khayal or Aatmamanthan behind keeping this collection under the name Dhanlakshmi was very clear. We wanted to make a repository of Heirloom Sarees, where we can create colours & palettes that signify the opulence of Sri Lakshmi. After successfully venturing into Gold, Silver hues, and Pearl, Firoza, Precious stones like Tourmaline, Agate hues, we wanted to include Gemstone shades.
Our lands are blessed with a variety of natural minerals and gemstones that have immense energy stored within them. Formed under the envelope of Bhoodevi's (Earth) womb, they radiate and reflect back her energy and lend them to the wearer. Our Chanderi sarees, adorned with heirloom quality Chikankari, are named after these soft and deeply spiritual stones.
Pukhraaj or Yellow Sapphire is a brilliant yellow coloured clear looking mineral stone. This beautiful Yellow luminous Chikankari Chanderi saree with antique quality embroidery, is the perfect connect to that emotion with us, that resonates with carrying forward a revered Textile Tradition.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
This bright Yellow luminous expanse of handwoven Chanderi saree is embroidered with some of the most antique motifs; some old, some recreated based on archived old motifs.
The saree palla has very antique bel boota on palla & border, made with fine and prized Murri stitch, a rare work of art.
It further has a Grand Paisley Guldaan Boota with finest of Murri & Ghaspatti embroidery. Amongst the revered and rare Chikankari stitches, Murri takes precedence as it is very painstaking to create. It has to mimic a Biryani Chawal like fineness and beauty, which is extremely difficult to achieve, especially so in Resham thread.
The small floral booti in the palla & body of this saree is 200 plus years old. It is a Murri ki Kairi, a miniature fine art motif, that is made almost completely with fine Murri, making this saree an outstanding piece of Murri artwork
The saree is lit up with diyas of Mukaish embroidery placed beautifully amidst the fine thread art.
Saree is finished with Pure Handwoven Mulberry Silk selvedge in soft Lime Green and we will also provide a 1 metre approx blouse piece in same fabric and same colour.

An Oxblood shade Chikankari Kurta in our Noir series of exploring rich, dark shades. The Kurta is a classic in our Noir moodboard!
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery on absolutely novel motif art.
2. Novel motif art & layout created using hand carved motifs following all processes.
3. Handloom Chanderi
4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (mood-board):
Noir is a series we had created a couple of years back, to celebrate a new dimension in Chikankari embroidery - the tone on tone dark. We started this process with Black, & since then have tried Moss Green, and now moving to explore Oxblood shade. This kind of Chikankari is the opposite of classic & ethereal White on White or pastel Tone on Tone. This is rich, decadent, sultry, elegant, mysterious & yet, stately.
The motifs are also picked keeping the noir theme in mind.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
This rich Oxblood shade kurta has a Chaand Bel neckline, with Qasab Taar jaali work. It also features small motifs of Keel & Ghaspatti flowers all over front & on sleeves.
The back has a statement motif of Crescent Moon, with a flower vase motif on Top, to symbolise the night jasmines, that bloom under moonlight.
In keeping with the mood of Noir, we chose the theme of Crescent & Night Jasmines, to symbolise life growing within dark.

Artisan Skill Enhancement: The artisan unit that has embroidered this Chikankri Saree had never worked on a saree before or done skilled stitch work. They had never even worked on any pure fabric & only did "shadow" "phanda" stitches for fast moving Chikan goods. Such nuanced work enhanced their skill and gives them better chance of earning more.
Slow Layout of Embroidery: The embroidery layout is in typical style of an Heirloom saree with more designs and even Shadow work. This breaks away from the allover simple Tepchi embroidery that is the norm of fast moving Chikan work.
Non Motorised Amber Charkha Spun Fabric yarn.
Handwoven high count Cotton Saree
Azo Free filtered dyeing
Khayal (moodboard): Rajnigandha collection is inspired by Everyday Effortless charm of saree draping from 1970s-80s, when the ladies of our homes used to drape sarees for everyday chores, & not just for occasions. There was a certain careless abandon in this style, that made the drapes very relatable and one with the wearer, which is an emotion missing now from saree draping. Since the collection finds its muse in 1970s middle cinema heroines, like Vidya Sinha, the names are kept reminiscent of the romance of those ages!! Petrichor is the fragrance of Monsoon very dear to lovers of Slow Living, that is evocative of the simple yet soulful era!!
Poshaak (about the saree):
Beautiful & rare Peacock Motif along with a stunning floral shadow motif and Lotus creepers come together to celebrate this beautiful Chikankari saree. To create this one of a kind Tepchi with Shadow embroidery layout, we re-imagined this saree in the style of design layout that is usually reserved for pure georgette Chikankari sarees; only, we gave this a twist suited best for good quality Tepchi embroidery. Instead of an allover same embroidery pattern, that is normal with Tepchi, we broke the palla layout into interesting panels to include more nuanced motifs & even included a Shadow stitch motif. This makes the layout of the saree unique, and allows the artisans to enhance their skill in Tepchi embroidery. Please remember, that only constant practise and challenges makes crafts perfect.
We absolutely love Tepchi Chikankari. The delicate Tepchi is quite literally Summer embroidered on your saree.
However, off late the Tepchi we have started getting in markets is a travesty. You will be lucky to find a really good quality Tepchi for office or casual wear. We have worked very hard on this saree to create a fantastic Tepchi & some shadow work masterpiece, along with Handwoven fabric!! This is a true collector's delight.
The unconventional dark Old Rose (Brown with very faint hints of Pink) hue is stunning, all season fresh & outstanding , making it a perfect & must have Chikankari wear.
Creating a Chikankari saree on Handspun Handwoven Cotton weave was always our dream. We have been successful in finding the perfect sustainable drape for our delicately embroidered sarees.
It is a perfect light office/lunch/brunch/casual wear saree, yet one that will make heads turn. The drape is perfect for any weather.
IMP: Please Note, this is a Khadi Cotton saree, which is dyed after the embroidery. There will be non uniformity in colour gradation. This is the charm of Khadi and its differentiating factor.
Styling Tip: Wear with Rajnigandha Crop Top

KHAYAAL (moodboard):
Kamal Sarovar Grande is a customised saree of the original Kamal Sarovar saree we had made in 2020 that can be seen here
The creation of this saree was magnificent. Kamal Sarovar was born out of a dream to create a river full of blooming lotuses. Only a complete jaal saree could do proper justice to the thought. We wanted the base of the saree to have a soft pearly glow to represent a water body glistening in the morning sunlight, when the Lotuses have started blooming for the day. Our handwoven Chanderi fabric was the best option. A contrast pastel colour is used to create blossoming Lotuses all through the saree.
This saree is a work of wearable art & a visually aesthetic masterpiece!!
POSHAAK (about the saree): The expanse of Grey Chanderi Handloom saree plays with delicate Pink Kamal Sarovar embroidery in Resham Chikankari, all over the body. Each flower & leaf in the embroidery comes alive with glistening Mukaish stars that add mystical allure to this beautiful combination. The saree is finished with handmade Pure Silk selvage in the reverse side in the colour of embroidery, & trimmed with Crochet lace detailing in the colour of the embroidery.
For colour customisation, please place your order and drop in a mail at namaste@meiraas.com and we will take it up further.

UNIQUE MEIRAAS BLOCKS - Depicting the favourite leisure activity of Awadhis, Kabootarbaazi or Flight of Pigeons is an ode to the slow life of Lucknow. Art created from scratch. Motif Blocks drawn & chiseled by hand in ancient style. This gives more challenging & creative work to Block Artisans, who were being eliminated by many designers in favour of digital tracing.
RESHAM CHIKANKARI (HAND EMBROIDERY PRACTISED SINCE ANCIENT AGE)
Unique Conceptual Saree
Khayal (moodboard):The beautiful town of Maheshwar weaves the stunning Cotton Silk sarees that were introduced by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar. These sarees are distinguished by their stunning border & palla weaving that is inspired by the city of Maheashwar (the fort mainly), and the Narmada river. When I had conceptualised making Chikankari on these sarees, the very thought of Maheshwari weaving paying an homage to their town was my central moodboard. Therefore, I wanted the unique inspiration of Lucknow & Awadh to be represented on these sarees. The Khayal of Awadh meeting the Song of Maheshwar!! - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Design, MeiraasPOSHAAK (about the dress):
This beautiful darker Pink saree has a stunning Blue striped Palla with typical Maheshwari borders. The palla has beautiful Blue wildflowers embroidered in resham thread, that makes the saree look stunning. Just above the palla we have our signature & exclusive Kabootarbaazi - A Flight of Pigeons & more scattered flowers on the rest of the saree!! A one of a kind collector's piece
Important: The saree has no tassles as visible in 1st image. The model image that has tassles on saree was the first such saree made. Rest of the saree is completely identical.
Styling Tip: This rare saree is perfect for wedding day functions, festive occasions & even formal office parties. They can also be worn as formal wear to important meetings.
Pink Green Maheshwari Saree with Woven Border details and Chikankari Embroidery done in Resham Taar. The Paisley Motif used here is almost 200 plus years old. A rich slice of history.
KHAYAL (moodboard): A Tale of two Dynasties
Maheshwar & Awadh come together to tell each other the stories of their glorious past & their surviving present!! The Maheshwari Sarees are woven taking inspiration from the city of Maheshwar and Narmada River. Each border & palla motifs are woven as an homage to this historic city!! Hoe beautiful would it be if Awadh also came on board to tell its stories by motifs inspired by its own essence. The Khayal is a marriage of two beautiful ideologies & their rich crafts.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
A beautiful woven Resham Border inspired by Maheshwar Fort adorns this cheerful Pink & Green beauty on which we have got Paisley Chikankari Motif embroidered that is 200 plus years old!! The embroidery is statement like with two motifs on either side of Palla width & then small floral motifs on the Palla. These small motifs get sparse as we enter the body of the saree. This ensures that either Art is not engulfing the other & both stand out symbiotically.
Imp:

Sonchiraiya, or the elusive Golden Bird, is a lovely Resham Chikankari & Mukaish kurta made on Eri/Ahimsa/Peace Silk fabric, for possibly the very first time! A true connoiseur’s delight!
Please note that Eri or Ahimsa Silk is one of the most premium fabrics of the World. Produced in weaving clusters of Assam, this silk is handspun & handwoven. It is also known as Wild Silk, as it is not obtained from farmed silkworms. This Silk is called Ahimsa or Peace Silk, because the silk extraction process here, allows the silkworms to leave their cocoon. Only after that, silk is extracted, making this a Cruelty Free Yarn. Eri Silk is thermostatic in nature, making it all weather compatible. It improves with age & use, making it one of the most sustainable & sought after fabrics.Meiraas has gone one step further & brought alive the art of Chikankari on it, to make a Kurta. This is a rare & novel addition to the craft!
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):

Handspun & Handloom Eri/Ahimsa/Peace Silk for Kurta - please read the note above.
Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well-researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (mood-board):
Sonchiraiya or the Common Sparrow bird, that is increasingly becoming uncommon & elusive.
The bird that used to titter in every home and bring untold joy of life, whose presence heards the beauty of seasons – summer, winters or monsoon! It is one of the most therapeutic signs to see these birds in nesting season, starting a new life.
It is for this reason, that the Sparrow or Sonchiraiya has been eulogised in many poems & works of Art!
POSHAAK (about the dress):
The Sonchiraiya Eri Silk Kurta is possibly the first Chikankari Kurta on Eri Silk fabric!
This Golden Peach beauty has an artful layout.
The front of the kurta has a branch coming down from one shoulder, with flowers & leaves on it. The Sonchiraiya are going in and out of the branch, carrying a twig in their beak, symbolising the nesting season.
The back of the Kurta has a statement motif, with the twig carrying Sonchiraiya drawn in art inside a miniature frame, by an artist.
It’s an Artful representation of a story of Nature inspiring Art, all represented on a Kurta, through the craft of Chikankari.
Mukaish dots add a touch of drama to this dress.
