Resham Chikankari (Hand Embroidery Practised Since Ancient Age).
2 Taar Resham Chikankari (very rare)
Hand Picked Ancient Archived Motifs.
Conceptual and Exclusive Chikankari Artwork on Zari Silk fabric.
Handloom Zari Silk fabric.
Museum quality Chikankari sarees that can be handed down generation to generation as a treasure.
KHAYAAL (Mood-board):
Gold on Gold tone Chikankari was a dream drape, that we could only imagine a Goddess draping on herself. Our moodboard was a wrap that is rich like molten gold, embroidered like it is carved using finest craftsmanship on gold, malleable like it is a rich gold lava flowing...
This is what shaped the Shahi Paan Gold Wrap/Shawl. We wanted a drape so exceedingly rich & lustrous, and yet so incredibly detailed with antique quality Chikankari, that it makes hearts stop.
POSHAAK (About the garmemt):
The stunning Shahi Paan silk shawl, is embroidered with extremely delicate and prized stitches of Conceptual Chikankari Art work.
The either side of the shawl width has the grand Shahi Paan motif, that we re created basis an archival image of a 18th Century Chikankari motif.
The body is made of an intricate trellis jaal, where hand cut work stitches like hathkati have been used extensively, to bring out the beauty of this drape.
The shawl features some rarest stitches done in 2 Taar Resham Chikankari - hathkati, shadow, murri, phanda, orma, pechni, and many more.
It is a visual treat for any connoisseur of fine Chikankari craft.
It is extremely difficult to work on full Zari Silk Chikankari pieces, because of many reasons:
The fabric reflects light back, making it impossible to work in full light, hence it needs perfect light setting in a room and extremely skilled artisans to make it.
Such fabric requires enormous dexterity and a very fine level of craftsmanship, therefore the number of artisans working on it are just 1-2 only. This means it takes more time than other sarees
Words will fall short in the praise of this exquisite beauty of a drape!! Some of these motifs are centuries old, and some freshly carved looking at centuries old motifs. A rare piece of Art.
This shawl is a timeless heirloom that you would like to pass on generation after generation.
This Shawl will pair fabulously with Swarna Kurta
If you purchase it along with Swarna Kurta, then a pair of glazed cotton pants to match will also be complimentary.
P.S: If you are noticing dark patches anywhere in the pictures, then that is the Zari reflecting the light back to the camera, and this is not present on the shawl.
Avoid moisture seeping into such pieces. Always store them in a dry place and in the Meiraas bag we deliver them in. Keep opening Silk Fabrics in every 6 months and changing its folds.

KHAYAL (Mood-board):
I dream of an Evening in the old city of Lucknow in 1970s-1980s! The trip to Ravindralaya for a much awaited play or cultural performance. A laidback, candlelight dinner afterwards at Clarks Awadh's Falaknuma. How lovely were those immersive evenings of ghazals, the best food, the view of the glittering old city from outside the window, and the company of the most beloved!! From there, a quick trip to a friend's house for a late night baithak, where drinks & coffee were exchanged with a catch up. Every lady flaunting her best saree, as laughter tinkled inside the walls of the kothi.
Matsya Ambi is a throwback to those beautiful, slow evenings of Lucknow, that rarely exist now. This was also a time when embroidered sarees worn had to be minimal, and not overwhelming the wearer. The work had to be fine quality, & the saree, a conversation starter.
POSHAAK (About the garment):
Matsya Ambi saree has two prominent motifs of Lucknow detailed on the palla in Resham Chikankari:
Matsya - The Fish emblem motif of Awadh which comes resting on the shoulders, when the palla is taken over the shoulder.
Ambi - a very rare & old motif of overlapping ambis of different sizes, that seems to be inspired from Tanchoi weave of Banaras. It is a unique motif layout that was never seen in Chikankari, despite Ambi or Paisley being a very prominent Chikankari motif. This forms the palla, which will look glorious when taken over the shoulder.
The rest of the gorgeous Coral Pink saree is hand embroidered with Gold stars of Mukaish, making this the perfect throwback saree of Vintage Chikankari.

Khayal (Moodboard):Â
"Chandani ke boote aur Dhoop ki Kaliyan" - The flowers carved by Moonlight, & the Buds that bloom under mellow sunshine.
This is a title in Lucknow's cultural historian, Padma Shri Late Dr Yogesh Praveen ji's book, Aapka Lucknow. The chapter is dedicated particularly to Crafts of Awadh - Zardozi, Mukaish & Chikankari, of which "Dhoop ki Kaliyan" is especially kept for the latter craft.
Chikankari is in fact one of those rarest of rare embroideries, that looks as though crafted out of mellow Sunshine. This saree and its very fine embroidery looks every inch as the delicate flower buds that are ready to bloom in soft glow of the Sun.

KHAYAL (mood-board):
Swarna is a hue we love! We introduced the fabric of Zari Silk (or Tissue) with Resham Chikankari, back in 2020, with our Dhanlakshmi collection. Since then, this is one of our most revered & loved creations.
Our moodboard was inspired by the ancient Indian sculptures that showcased very intricate & deep work on rich fabrics. We wanted to explore this unexplored dimension with Chikankari work, and it turned out ethereal!!
POSHAAK (about the dress):
The Swarna Ambi dupatta has beautiful Gold Ambi motifs on two sides of the daaman diagonally. The workmanship in the Ambi motif is exquisite with many rare stitches, including qasab taar ki jaali. The rest of the dupatta is embroidered with a very intricate miniature diskette shaped floral motif, which is further highlighted by Mukaish embroidery. The delicate, yet rich dupatta is made on Tissue Georgette fabric allowing a light weight & flattering drape. Please see the full dupatta images by scrolling till the end.
Swarna tunic, on the other hand, is made in Handloom Gold Zari Silk, with Resham Chikankari floral booti scattered in minimalist design mood board, as that is all this fabric needs to dress up. We wanted to create a more functional Kurti for the festive & wedding seasons, where one is running between events, & wants elegance and opulence, ready at their fingertips.
Just add some well chosen diamonds or emeralds with this Kurti, for a rich and yet sublime look.
There is a difference of shades in Swarna Ambi dupatta & Kurta. The dupatta is very light Gold, while the Kurta is Gold (please refer to the images). When worn together, they both complement each other very well, in giving a gradient effect. The pants should be made to match the Kurta.
If you wish to add plain Glazed Cotton pants in same shade to match, you can select the same from Glazed Cotton Plain Pants and in Customer Note mention: Please make Pants to match the selected set. We will do the needful
If you wish to get a pair of Silk or Zari Silk pants made to complete this ensemble, then mail us at namaste@meiraas.com and we will take the conversation forward.

Rare Hand Embroidery: Nuanced Tepchi Hand Embroidery using Resham Thread

KHAYAL (moodboard): Elinor Dashwood is one of the lead protagonists in Jane Austen's 1811 classic, Sense & Sensibility. While the younger Dashwood sister, Marianne, is celebrated popularly, for her free spirited & innocent character, Elinor is the quiet and responsible older sister, with a lot of depth of character. Her story, and her being a pillar of support for her family, in adverse situations, shows her silent strength. This was our inspiration behind creating this soft, yet impactful and beautiful dupatta.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): White Chikankari Kota Doria dupatta with Powder Blue delicate Tepchi Chikankari embroidery allover, showcases the character spirit of Elinor Dashwood. Slow, quiet & very subtle, yet with an impactful presence, just like this beautiful dupatta.

Khayal (Moodboard):Â
The month of Chaitra (roughly March mid to April mid), is one with Pink summers setting in, where the air is still free of the upcoming scorching heat, and the coolness of the winter months gone by, make the mornings and evenings very pleasant. It is a month, where the Earth, especially in Northern plains of India, springs the most beautiful blossoms all around. The most prominent amongst them are tall Kaner bushes, with stunning Pink blossoms all over them, weighing the delicate boughs down in their sweet ambrosia. These Kaner flowers are also known as Chaitra Gulaab, as their appearance is similar to roses, and colour is a stunning Pink. When reflected against a cornflower blue sky, and with other blossoms filling up all garden spaces, they make a meadow in any city, town or village.
In Lucknow, they are a common sight, and one that fills the heart with joy. Coupled with these are the tiny mangoes on tree boughs, that promise to soon grow into large vats of heavenly nectar. Together, they make Chaitra Upvan an oasis to cherish. This is the Khayal that defines this saree the best.
Poshaak (about the saree):Â
This is a saree fit for a Vault Collective. The saree Pallu itself has 14 unique embroidery patterns; please note that this adds intricacy & complexity in the work & thus makes it more premium. Even the corner most areas of the saree has nuanced details
The body is all over painstakingly embroidered with unique embroidery patterns.
Such sarees are made in hair like 2-3 taar filament of super fine embroidery thread only, allowing deeper patterns to be made. Time taken to make such sarees is almost a year. Sarees of this kind are the finest and rarest quality of Chikankari, that classify as Heirloom pieces.

KHAYAAL (Mood-board):
The Khayal or Aatmamanthan behind keeping this collection under the name Dhanlakshmi was very clear. We wanted to make a repository of Heirloom Sarees, where we can create colours and palettes that signify the opulence of Sri Lakshmi. After successfully venturing into Gold, Silver hues, and Pearl, Firoza, Precious stones like Tourmaline, Agate hues, we wanted to include Gemstone shades.
Our lands are blessed with a variety of natural minerals and gemstones that have immense energy stored within them. Formed under the envelope of Bhoodevi's (Earth) womb, they radiate and reflect back her energy and lend them to the wearer. Our Chanderi sarees, adorned with heirloom quality Chikankari, are named after these soft and deeply spiritual stones.
Chandramani or Moonstone is a beautiful grey silver hued sometimes clear, sometimes cloudy to opaque looking gemstone. This beautiful Grey rich Chikankari Tussar Silk saree with antique quality embroidery in white Resham, is the perfect connect to that emotion with us, that resonates with carrying forward a revered Textile Tradition.
POSHAAK (About the garment):Chandramani, as the name suggests is a soothing Grey Chikankari Tussar Silk saree, that glows radiant like the soft & soothing glow of the Moon.
We decided to use White Resham embroidery on this saree, to symbolise Bela and Motiya blossoms under the soft Moon Glow in the festive months.
The signature motif used here is a lovely Floral creeper that has stunning Zari Taar Jaali stitch. Rest of the motif is done using Shadow, Ghaspatti, Chanapatti, Keel, Phanda etc. The saree has a detailed border running all through the saree, and the signature motif rests on the palla, as well as one of them also rests on the shoulder, like a brooch.
The saree is filled with little Bela blossoms in white. Stars of Mukaish add to the deeply beautiful charm of this saree. It is an unconventional colour for festive and wedding season, and yet one that will stand out gracefully, with a stately charm.
Saree is further finished with Kingri gota lace in silver, and we will also provide a 1 metre approx. running blouse piece.
