FROM THE VAULT COLLECTIVE
Mihikavan is Heirloom Chikankari 2 Taar Pure Georgette Saree in Almond Beige hue with full jaal floral embroidery. The Palla has breathtaking latticework stitch in rare & old Paisley motif. A rare Heirloom Piece!!
KHAYAL (moodboard):
Kamadeva (God of Desire) and Basant (Spring) decide to break the tapa of Kaamajeyi Mahadev, and get him attracted to the beauty of Parvati ji. To set this scene of romance, they paint a rugged forest, where the tapa is going on, into a place of beautiful desire, an enchanted forest garden. In an instant, Basant transforms the rugged terrain into a Floral Paradise; his painting is so beautiful that all beings are turned on to create a valley of love, the culmination of this beauty happens when a dormant tree trunk starts sprouting flowers, & a Latika or Creeper of Flowers engulfs the trunk with her grip of love!! Kalidasa ji paints so beautifully with words, almost as beautifully as our artisans create art with needle and thread. Mihikavan means Mihika (dewdrops) of Vana (Forest garden). When I see the art on this saree, I think of the first rays of sun touching the Mihika and the whole enchanted forest garden of Kumaarsambhav penned by Kalidasa ji come alive. We hope you enjoy this Khayal - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
POSHAAK (about the saree):

The Power of the Next Move!!
Taking inspiration from celebrated Indian author, Munshi Premchand's story, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, we created Bisaat. Celebrated Indian Filmmaker, Satyajit Ray, also made a classic adaptation of this story in 1977. Bisaat or the chessboard was the biggest conversation starter in Awadh; this past legacy has been recreated on this showstopper kurta.
Painstaking research work was done to recreate these motif that you can read here Falaknuma
POSHAAK (about the dress): Red & Black motifs of Chess stand boldly against the butter white backdrop of the Kurta - Power of Silence. The back has one statement motif of Black & Red Chessboard fitted inside a Paisley Shape to draw the Awadhi connect to the design board. The kurta is a statement conversation piece & best worn with Bisaat Dupatta or standalone.
Important: The kurta will come with a detachable slip complimentary from Meiraas, along with stitching & finishing also complimentary.

KHAYAL (mood-board):
The outskirts of the historic & charming city of Lucknow are equally beautiful in their rustic charm. These ancient Indo Gangetic plains are lush with greenery & boasts of one of World's oldest agrarian civilisation. Watching the emerald landscape of Awadh is a surreal experience, even more so in winters when dotted with the migratory bird population, the most notable of these being the Siberian Cranes, that never enter the city Lucknow, but stay just outside, especially in Nawabgunj Bird Sanctuary. With this concept in mind, we wanted to design motifs that glide in the night sky in a Yin & Yang appeal; we found the desirable art style of these motifs, very surprisingly, in Japan. The ancient Japanese Art style is dramatically circular in design, & it is here that we found our serendipity, the right manner to display the Nawabgunj Cranes. The motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018. Borrowing from Japanese palette, we designed the motifs keeping Chikankari stitches in mind, that best romance the gliding flight of the Siberian Cranes.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
The cranes are falling, gliding, flying & finally in a circular Dance of Love at the statement back, in this Meiraas Exclusive Kurta made on Handloom Chanderi. The lace detailing on the neckline adds charm & romance to the ethereal Kurta. The White of the Kurta with its butter Pure Chanderi base is perfect to create the right drama, and yet have a classic appeal.
Additional Details: Made On Order Kurta. Please select your size & we will stitch it complimentary.

Raat ki Raani or Night Jasmine is a fragrance that we associate Lucknow deeply with. Used very liberally in our homes, since childhood, it is a fragrance after dusk, that we had grown accustomed to. Come monsoons, the sultry evenings in the homes of this regal city, would be wafting in the strong and sweet scent of this flower shrub.
Amongst many fragrances, which are signature of Awadh culture, Night Jasmine is most certainly an underrated, but a prominent one. The flower motif in this fabric is an imagination of the memories that this flower would evoke with its mellow scent.
Poshaak (About the fabric):
This Chikankari and Mukaish Top/Blouse fabric is an ethereal White on White beauty, with neat floral rows of embroidery on front, sleeves & back. The back has one stunning motif, a representative of Floral Creepers coming together to form a heart, at the back. The fabric is sufficient to make a stunning blouse to pair with many sarees, of same or different crafts. Please get the fabric full lined to make a blouse.

In the summer of 2022, we travelled to the villages around Lucknow city, which have been inked into legends and ballads due to their vast stretches of Mango Orchards, full of sweet fragrance and even sweeter promises. It was here, that we chanced upon some small, but gorgeous stretches of Sunflower Fields, farmed for the much used Sunflower Oil. The sight was as beautiful as a William Wordsworth poem, and also one that was unexpected in the topography of Awadh. This wanted us to add one more motif to our bouquet of work based on Awadh region.
Surajmukhi is a stunning statement motif in a field of other flowers & trees.
