The purest love between a Mother & her Doe has been brought to life, with 3D Chikankari, developed by Meiraas! A unique concept that focusses on detailing one motif we 3 levels of Chikankari stitches!
The Sustainability Quotient (SQ):
KHAYAL (mood-board):
AIR • SURFACE • EVOLVE
The Art of layering, creating textures on textiles, detailing with fine stitches in the smallest of motifs, is the art of Indian Maximalism.
Air for Trellis creation or Jaali
Surface for Shadow that creates a form
Multitude of embossing or raised stitches that Evolve the design into reality from manifestation.
3 D Chikankari by Meiraas is a vision to bring finest detailing into the Heritage Craft of Awadh!
We explore the concept of maternal bonding, taking the story of our Mrigya motif forward.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
Let us take you into the embroidery of this kurta step by step! We will start with the 3D Statement motif of Maatru at the back of the dress.
Our Mrigya, or Mother Deer sits in a loving embrace with her young doe. The baby reaches out to her mother for an affectionate kiss. This Art has been brought alive using embroidery in 3 layers on the motif.
The base has been made with Trellis or Jaali stitch, creating an illusion of woven air.
The shadow and phanda embroidery makes the frame and the base of the design, creating surface over air.
The embossed stitches like, Phanda, Murri, Orma, Ghaspatti, amongst others, evolve the design into a story!
The front of the kurta has a lovely neckline done with very exquisite stitches in kaccha taagha. the complete front panel and sleeves are embroidered with Crown motif or the Taaj booti, implying Imperialism of Awadh and Fauna of Awadh in one conceptual tunic.
The Kaccha Taar Chikankari refers to Chikankari done with unreeled, raw thread. The filament of such cotton thread is extremely fine. It has to be taken out from the raw clump by hand, retted by hand, and made pliable for embroidery by hand everytime, unlike a reeled thread that is ready to use.
This thread gives the look & finish of the Golden Age Chikankari that one can find in Textile Books and Craft Museums.
The extremely soft Handloom Cotton base gives the Kurta a very flattering fall, & provides extreme comfort, while being elegant.
