KHAYAAL (moodboard): Tulips have captured the mind space of Art connoisseurs alike the World Over. Maybe its alluring form is the reason, or their vibrant colours, but the elegant and beautiful Tulips find themselves as the centrepiece in many works of Art, including Textiles, where they have a dominating presence in some cultures. In Chikankari & other Crafts of Awadh, we wanted these celebrated blossoms to be represented too, as the craft seems to be made for them. Our visit to a Tulip Show in New Delhi, in February of 2024, solidified this dream. In the same vein, Indian artists & portraitures carry a miniature frame to capture portraits of Royals. These two thoughts were married to make two blocks, that carry the thought of Tulip Royale saree. POSHAAK (about the saree): Let us understand this saree's highlight motif, the Tulip Miniature. Inspired by miniature Art style of Indian portrait painters and the allure of the shape of the oval/round miniature frame, we created a block of Miniature Mirror. Inside the mirror, we created our Exclusive, intertwined Tulips motif. This motif has stitches like Orma, Ghaspatti, Shadow, Bijli, amongst others. However, after the Tulip was embroidered, the rest of miniature frame space was filled with very fine quality qasab taar (zari coated thread filament) Jaali, cut by hands! An exemplary feat. This technique gives the saree a 3D Art effect, creating an illusion of colour and depth. The blue shade in each of these Oval Miniature Tulip motifs, shows three distinct shades of same blue due to the clever technique employed in embroidery. The shoulder also has a romantic web of intertwined tulips, again showing different shades of same royal blue, due to slick technique of embroidery! Rest of the saree is covered in Mukaish dots in Gold, along with a border detailing running all through. It is a saree that you will love to cherish and showcase with pride, as part of your personal heirloom collection. It is a saree that your great grandchildren or their children will someday love to show in a private visit to your home! The saree can be dyed and made also on request in a colour patron chooses. Khayal (Moodboard): Note from the Founder "Daughters are like the Sonchiraiya of a home. Isn’t that true?! The Golden Bird that keeps twittering at every nook and corner since childhood. Whose presence lights up the face; and who one day, becomes the elusive Golden Bird - Sonchiraiya. One that is the most beautiful and prized and yet rare to be seen. This is what a daughter and her marriage means. I designed the Sonchiraiya saree for our niece’s wedding keeping this thought in mind. Having gone through this phase too, I wanted to dedicate one saree to the daughter of the house. The mood board comes from our design range - Birds of Paradise - launched on IG this March/April that features many birds of Nawabgunj Bird Sanctuary. While the posse of those birds is huge, I just plucked out the Gauraiya or Sparrow from the the bouquet, as that is what daughters are, to my mind, sweet sparrows blooming in the home, who later metamorphose into the Golden Bird or Sonchiraiya. The grand saree is designed with dense Resham Chikankari, with Sonchiraiya sitting in Zardozi craft, in a twittering and prancing pattern (how daughters are and sparrows are). The saree is detailed with Kasab Taar on the borders and is finished with the finest Zardozi elements of micro sequins and rainbow beads, that are of the most premium kind. The grand saree is hand dyed in Damask Rose shade, to match the blush of a daughter’s face as she becomes a bride." Vidhi Rastogi, Founder, Meiraas. Poshaak (about the saree):  This is a saree fit for a Vault Collective. Palla and Body till 2.5 metres : The Pure Georgette Silk saree has almost 2.5 metres of heavy Chikankari work done in Resham with masterclass shadow work. The embroidery is done with Golden Cream shade on Pink base, and creates illusion of a different colour as the thread colour lends its own shade to the Pink shade. Gauraiya motif is interspersed in between the geometric shadow design to show a bird flying in and out. These are hand embroidered in very fine Zardozi craft, with Qasab Taar Aari outline for each bird. Each bird has Chikankari stitches, along with very fine Zardozi embroidery with micro sequins and rainbow glass beads. These beads though very tiny to the naked eye, catch and reflect colour beautifully, while leaving the onlooker bewildered as to where the glow is emanating from. Each Golden Bird stands out richly on the palla and body, till 2.5 metres Body : The saree has very beautiful antique borders of Chikankari, where at places a Qasab Taar (zari coated filament) has been intertwined with Resham Taar to do embroidery and at places they have been embroidered separately on same motif in a definite pattern. This is to give rich attention to detailing in every nook and corner of the saree. Rest of the body has floral bootis scattered all over. Micro Sequins are tucked in all over the saree, that give the saree a subtle, graceful glow. This saree is a Rare, Conceptual piece of Art, and meant for Collectors of the Craft. Blouse: Pure Crepe Blouse with micro sequins embroidered all over This saree does not need very heavy jewellery, as it is a jewel in itself. Just some well chosen diamonds will complete the look. FROM THE VAULT COLLECTIVE Mihikavan is Heirloom Chikankari 2 Taar Pure Georgette Saree in Almond Beige hue with full jaal floral embroidery. The Palla has breathtaking latticework stitch in rare & old Paisley motif. A rare Heirloom Piece!! KHAYAL (moodboard): Kamadeva (God of Desire) and Basant (Spring) decide to break the tapa of Kaamajeyi Mahadev, and get him attracted to the beauty of Parvati ji. To set this scene of romance, they paint a rugged forest, where the tapa is going on, into a place of beautiful desire, an enchanted forest garden. In an instant, Basant transforms the rugged terrain into a Floral Paradise; his painting is so beautiful that all beings are turned on to create a valley of love, the culmination of this beauty happens when a dormant tree trunk starts sprouting flowers, & a Latika or Creeper of Flowers engulfs the trunk with her grip of love!! Kalidasa ji paints so beautifully with words, almost as beautifully as our artisans create art with needle and thread.  Mihikavan means Mihika (dewdrops) of Vana (Forest garden). When I see the art on this saree, I think of the first rays of sun touching the Mihika and the whole enchanted forest garden of Kumaarsambhav penned by Kalidasa ji come alive. We hope you enjoy this Khayal - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas POSHAAK (about the saree): Mihikavan Heirloom Chikankari, made on Pure Georgette Silk (certified Silk Mark India). The saree is embroidered all over with the Palla having antique Paisley motif replete with Latticework Stitch (jaali) with qasab taar detailing. The full saree is embroidered with very inticate floral motif. Stitches like shadow, ghaspatti, orma, jaali, zanjeera, hool make this stunning saree. Mukaish stars create the much needed Mihika in this Garden created with needles and thread. The embroidery is done with 2 Taar Resham Thread and is extremely rare. Please note that the actual colour of this saree is light almond or beige. The darker colours that you see in some photographs is lighting effect. The Cover pic and 3rd last image are shot against a backlight to show you the neatness of the work. This saree will come out most beautifully on Pure Georgette only. The Paisley & Paan are two iconic imageries of Lucknow & Chikankari, and we have brought both together in this conceptual work, making it one of a kind artwork to be revered forever. The small floral booti in the palla & body of this saree is 200 plus years old. It has some extremely complex stitches in this small a surface area - Zari taar ki Jaali, Hool & Murri. There is not one soul who can say that the lit rows of Diyas with their soulful flame does not invoke a sense of calmness, positivity, love and joy. It is one of those moments of joy that is not ephemeral. Do you know why? Because the silent flame of the Diya makes you realise that this is how your Aatman is inside your Body. The realisation brings the relativity & connectivity!! We wanted to capture the glow of Diyas on a Diwali night through a Mukaish creation, and here we did it through DeepMala. POSHAAK (about the saree): A stunning Oxblood Red Chanderi Kurta with Deepmala stars of Mukaish on the front panel and sleeves looking like glowing diyas. The back has single star Mukaish allover. The lightweight and pearly lustrous Organza holds the delicate strands of Resham embroidered into sheer poetry of a saree!! This saree is Made On Order only. Hand Embroidered Mukaish highlights. 3. Natural Fibre base - Pure Organza Silk. 4. Rare stitches like, Murri (Rice Grain) form the major part of the embroidery. The shadow work done in this saree is silent (which means that the shadow threadwork in the reverse is not visible from front, yet it gives the classic impression or shadow). KHAYAL (Mood-board): The elusive Brahmakamal, is an ancient celestial Indian flower, that is considered extremely auspicious to be offered to our prime deities. The reason behind this is its rarity of blooming in just one night between the period of late summer & early autumn, and that too in the higher Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Our scriptures revere this Brahmakamal as divine and celestial, due to this rarity. Various ancient texts of India and Tibet have mentioned its amazing therapeutic properties that can cure many fatal diseases. Brahmakamal is that flora of our land, which was deemed as the best kept mystery of the natural secret garden of the Himalayas. We spotted some rare Brahmakamal in our many travels to the higher Himalayas, and envisioned them in the craft of Chikankari. POSHAAK (About the garment): As the name suggests, we envisioned this saree in pure, pristine and pearly white. Our immediate thought was using the purest Organza Silk as the base to display the snow capped peaks of Higher Himalayas, but with a mystique; hence, Organza was the choice. The motif chosen for this saree was one that had to have a Brahmakamal like shape, which we luckily found in an old border motif. The best of stitches were brainstormed, which would bring alive this artwork. After the magnificent border, the palla was adorned with snowflake like motif to showcase the presence of the blooms in the higher altitudes of Himalayas. The rest of the body has smaller motifs. Stars of Mukaish are scattered through the saree like fireflies in the mountains glowing like celestial lamps on a full moon night!! KHAYAL (Mood-board): In Meiraas, we treat our Chikankari sarees as a canvas, on which we display our expressions or Khayal, via heritage hand embroidery. Ratna Mayur saree is an expression evolved over our many travels throughout the country, where the elegant peacocks are a common sight to behold. It is amazing how much joy the mere sight of a peacock can bring, to lift up even the most bleak days one could be facing. No wonder, this elegant bird is attached to our Divinity, and also accosted the status of our National Bird. The interplay of Golden Yellow base with Firozi Peacocks came to us from various fort paintings all across Rajasthan. Since most of these personal travels happened during our winter breaks,  we especially wanted to create a symposium of all these reveries, into one saree. The saree base was kept as Golden Yellow to indicate the pleasant softness of winter sun in North India. POSHAAK (About the garment): This handloom Mulberry Silk saree has a buttery yellow hue, that is accentuated with Firozi Resham Chikankari embroidery to bring out the colour on colour interplay of the craft, that is usually known for monotone look. The palla has a grand window made of border floral Bel. Inside this window, we have embroidered two Peacocks, making a lover's knot, poetically. Stitches of Ghaaspatti, Zari Taar ki Jaali, Hool, Bijli, amongst other stitches, create this visual poetry. The rest of the palla has an interplay of miniature peacock motifs, along with floral motifs. It is a very rich texture saree with stunning work, and is finished with crochet lace in the colour of the embroidery.

KHAYAL (Mood-board): I dream of an Evening in the old city of Lucknow in 1970s-1980s! The trip to Ravindralaya for a much awaited play or cultural performance. A laidback, candlelight dinner afterwards at Clarks Awadh's Falaknuma. How lovely were those immersive evenings of ghazals, the best food, the view of the glittering old city from outside the window, and the company of the most beloved!! From there, a quick trip to a friend's house for a late night baithak, where drinks & coffee were exchanged with a catch up. Every lady flaunting her best saree, as laughter tinkled inside the walls of the kothi. My Technicolour Dream, is a throwback to those beautiful, slow evenings of Lucknow, that rarely exist now. This was also a time when embroidered sarees worn had to be minimal, and not overwhelming the wearer. The work had to be fine quality, & the saree, a conversation starter. POSHAAK (About the garment): My Technicolour Dream saree retains the pastel play hue, that old Lucknow was way too fond of. Be it summers or winters; be it morning or evening, if it is Chikankari, it had to be pastel with neat and clutter feee embroidery & stars of mukaish, just about highlighting the embroidery. This soft powder Mint green pure Organza Silk saree has an interplay of three beautiful Chikankari motifs all through the saree in a decluttered, neat pattern. The Chikankari is done in Lilac shade, and especially shadow stitch motifs have been used, so that the lilac lends its colour to the mint body to create a Technicolour Dream! Silver Mukaish has been added on the saree to give it a dreamy fairytale look. The saree is perfection for so many outings, with mere accessory change.
