Meiraas Exclusive Chikankari motif, Tulip Royale & Miniature Frame, has been conceptualised into an ensemble. It’s a novel art in Chikankari, introduced by Meiraas.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery on Exclusive motif art by Meiraas
2. Exclusive & Rare Conceptual Chikankari Embroidery, with masterclass Jaali work
3. Handloom Chanderi & Pure Organza Silk (for dupatta)
4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (mood-board):
Tulips have captured the mind space of Art connoisseurs alike the World Over. Maybe its alluring form is the reason, or their vibrant colours, but the elegant and beautiful Tulips find themselves as the centrepiece in many works of Art, including Textiles, where they have a dominating presence in some cultures.
In Chikankari, we wanted these celebrated blossoms to be represented too, as the craft seems to be made for them. Our visit to a Tulip Show in New Delhi, in February of 2024, solidified this dream.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
The intertwined pair of Tulips find their romantic adaptation in Chikankari, through Tulip Royale ensemble.
The front panel & sleeves has the Tulip Royale motif patterned heavily all through, creating a beautiful tone on tone effect in Ocean Blue shade of the Handloom Chanderi kurta.
The back of the Kurta has the Tulip Royale encased inside a miniature oval frame motif, to show the allure of the blossom & its representation in Art. This motif has the rarest 3D embroidery, & the first of its kind in Chikankari.
The complete oval miniature motif has been embroidered with Qasab Taar jaali, possibly the largest surface to have Jaali stitch in. The tulip encased inside this frame has other Chikankari stitches like Orma, Bijli & Shadow.
The Jaali embroidery changes the shade of the Blue of the miniature oval, while the blue of the portions where Shadow embroidery is done have another hue; then again, the flower area with Orma stitch is darker and different blue from the Jaali & Stalk part of the embroidery. This enables 3 subtly changed shades of Blue, achieved via masterclass embroidery technique.
The dupatta is Organza Silk with Tulip Motif Chikankari miniature boota scattered and Mukaish dots added all over. It adds to the ethereal charm of the whole ensemble.

KHAYAL (mood-board):
Kabootarbaazi (Pigeon flying) is inherent to the culture of Lucknow and Awadh. Whether romanced in Ruskin Bond’s period novella “A Flight of the Pigeons” or appearing aesthetically in Ray’s “Shatranj ke Khiladi”, Pigeons and the skyline of Lucknow is synonymous with each other. Seen here is Kabootar (Pigeon) in the romantic Mehraab (Archways) in the EXCLUSIVE MOTIF created by Meiraas under Falaknuma Collection. The motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
This beautiful Emerald Green Chikankari Kurta has a Kashmiri style heavy neckline of shadow & ghaspatti embroidery in tone on tone thread work. It also features a pair of Doves, flying towards the floral yoke, with subtle Mukaish highlights allover.

Meiraas Bestseller Resham Chikankari design since its first launch in 2018, the Power of Silence, Dance of the Cranes motif has been one of our most requested motifs. This is the original Luxe version of the kurta with heavy motif work all through.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery on absolutely novel motif art.
2. Exclusive Dance of the Cranes Meiraas motifs carved following all processes.
3. Handloom Chanderi
4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (mood-board):
The outskirts of the historic & charming city of Lucknow are equally beautiful in their rustic charm. These ancient Indo Gangetic plains are lush with greenery & boasts of one of World's oldest agrarian civilisation. Watching the emerald landscape of Awadh is a surreal experience, even more so in winters when dotted with the migratory bird population, the most notable of these being the Siberian Cranes, that never enter the city Lucknow, but stay just outside, especially in Nawabgunj Bird Sanctuary. With this concept in mind, we wanted to design motifs that glide in the night sky in a Yin & Yang appeal; we found the desirable art style of these motifs, very surprisingly, in Japan. The ancient Japanese Art style is dramatically circular in design, & it is here that we found our serendipity, the right manner to display the Nawabgunj Cranes. The motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018. Borrowing from Japanese palette, we designed the motifs keeping Chikankari stitches in mind, that best romance the gliding flight of the Siberian Cranes.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
The cranes are falling, gliding, flying & finally in a circular Dance of Love at the statement back, in this Meiraas Exclusive Kurta made on Handloom Chanderi. This Grape coloured kurta has tone on tone embroidery of the Cranes on Handloom Chanderi fabric, with their beaks & eyes highlighted with black thread detailing.
The work is very heavy on front panel & sleeves, compared to the regular Dance of the Cranes design, with the back having the eternal Dance of Love motif, accompanied my celestial Lotus motif all through. It is truly a grand dress.

4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well-researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (mood-board):
Flowers, leaves and fruits, together form the symphony of a pleasure garden. They symbolise the rule of nature that signals budding, flowering and fruiting, to complete the natural cycle of birth and re-birth.
This Cherry motif is an elegant fruit & leaf motif, that is part of a bigger motif all three live giving energies of a plant.
With this addition to Chikankari bouquet, we have added one more fruit motif to the existing repertoire.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
Cherry tunic is made in Handloom Red Gold Zari Silk (Tissue), with Cherry motif embroidered in Resham Chikankari. The front panel & sleeves are heavily embroidered, while the back has a statement motif of intertwined Cherry leaves, stalks & fruits in a love knot.
This kurti does not need much in terms of accessories. Just some well-chosen diamonds or polkis are enough.

Mihikavan is Heirloom Chikankari 2 Taar Pure Georgette Saree in Almond Beige hue with full jaal floral embroidery. The Palla has breathtaking latticework stitch in rare & old Paisley motif. A rare Heirloom Piece!!
KHAYAL (moodboard):
Kamadeva (God of Desire) and Basant (Spring) decide to break the tapa of Kaamajeyi Mahadev, and get him attracted to the beauty of Parvati ji. To set this scene of romance, they paint a rugged forest, where the tapa is going on, into a place of beautiful desire, an enchanted forest garden. In an instant, Basant transforms the rugged terrain into a Floral Paradise; his painting is so beautiful that all beings are turned on to create a valley of love, the culmination of this beauty happens when a dormant tree trunk starts sprouting flowers, & a Latika or Creeper of Flowers engulfs the trunk with her grip of love!! Kalidasa ji paints so beautifully with words, almost as beautifully as our artisans create art with needle and thread. Mihikavan means Mihika (dewdrops) of Vana (Forest garden). When I see the art on this saree, I think of the first rays of sun touching the Mihika and the whole enchanted forest garden of Kumaarsambhav penned by Kalidasa ji come alive. We hope you enjoy this Khayal - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
POSHAAK (about the saree):

Mukaish stars create the much needed Mihika in this Garden created with needles and thread. The embroidery is done with 2 Taar Resham Thread and is extremely rare.
Please note that the actual colour of this saree is light almond or beige. The darker colours that you see in some photographs is lighting effect. KHAYAAL (moodboard):
The Khayal or Aatmamanthan behind keeping this collection under the name Dhanlakshmi was very clear. We wanted to make a repository of Heirloom Sarees, where we can create colours & palettes that signify the opulence of Sri Lakshmi. After successfully venturing into Gold, Silver hues, and Pearl, Firoza, Precious stones like Tourmaline, Agate hues, we wanted to include Gemstone shades.
Our lands are blessed with a variety of natural minerals and gemstones that have immense energy stored within them. Formed under the envelope of Bhoodevi's (Earth) womb, they radiate and reflect back her energy and lend them to the wearer. Our Chanderi sarees, adorned with heirloom quality Chikankari, are named after these soft and deeply spiritual stones.
Shwet Sphatik or White Rhinestone is a clear pearly looking mineral stone. This beautiful White luminous Chikankari Chanderi saree with antique quality embroidery, is the perfect connect to that emotion with us, that resonates with carrying forward a revered Textile Tradition.

Sustainable fabric base - Tussar Silk
Bespoke stitching.
KHAYAL (moodboard):
Paan is a very endearing moodboard of Lucknow, let alone the rest of Bharat. Paan holds not just aesthetic value for us, but it is also considered auspicious due to its various health benefits. The betel leaf is enjoyed amongst all sections of society, and has especially been patronised by the Royals of Lucknow.
Shahi Paan, which was akin to Art rolled inside the auspicious Betel Leaf, had the paan makers of that time apply the best of their culinary expertise to create a gilauri that was worthy of the Deity of the temple, which later travelled to Royal courts. This gilauri was especially wrapped with hand beaten pure silver foil called Warq.
Our Shahi Paan motif & the kalgi adorning atop it, is an homage to those Royal Beedas of the ancient past that are still in existence.
POSHAAK (about the dress): Shahi Paan natural Tussar Silk kurta has a stunning statement back of Paan and Kalgi motif, all archival motifs, that can be seen displayed in National Crafts Museum, New Delhi. Although our motif is much bigger, as that is how hand carving happens now.
Laced with very intricate detailing, the stunning motif on the back, is balanced by a beautifully minimal neckline & sleeve line. Jasmine flowers motifs adorn the front of the kurta, making it a regal & subtle piece that is perfect for Festivities & Weddings.
The kurta is paired with Glazed Cotton pants in the same shade. It adds depth & character to classic Chikankari, & makes it a novelty, without taking away from the core essence of the craft.
Additional Details: The Kurta is Made on Order only. Please feel free to give your custom sizing (please specify body or garment sizing), in case you don't find your perfect fit in our size chart.
The Kurta will be accompanied with a pair of plain Glazed Cotton Pants in same shade as Kurta. You can choose to make a pyajama or a pant; please put this option in the customer note.
For more queries, please mark a mail on namaste@meiraas.com ; we will be happy to guide you through the process.

An Oxblood shade Chikankari Kurta in our Noir series of exploring rich, dark shades. The Kurta is a classic in our Noir moodboard! It also amalgamates our Amer motif.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery on absolutely novel motif art.
2. Exclusive Amer Motif hand carved following all processes.
2. Antiquemotif art & layout created using hand carved motifs following all processes.
3. Handloom Chanderi
4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (mood-board):
Amer motif was created by us in the year 2020. The motif is a replica of Amer Fort, Jaipur Guldaan art done in Molten Glass in the original monument. This motif inspired us to create a range of Amer inspired Chikankari garments, as artfully, Amer Fort is one of the most beautiful forts we have seen so far.
To add to this, Noir, is a series we had created a couple of years back, to celebrate a new dimension in Chikankari embroidery - the tone on tone dark. We started this process with Black, & since then have tried Moss Green, and now moving to explore Oxblood shade. This kind of Chikankari is the opposite of classic & ethereal White on White or pastel Tone on Tone. This is rich, decadent, sultry, elegant, mysterious & yet, stately.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
This rich Oxblood shade kurta has a beautiful ghaspatti bel neckline. It features an antique late 19th Century miniature flower vase motif, which also finds its parallel in Amer fort. This is why we picked this motif to go along with the grand Amer motif newly crafted by us.
This motif is scattered on the sleeves and front of the Kurta, and the back has the grand Amer Vase motif, along with keel bootis.
It is a beautiful, artful Kurta that is sure to turn heads and become a conversation starter.
If you wish to add plain Glazed Cotton pants in same shade to match, then please email us at namaste@meiraas.com and will get back with pant costing and payment link along with the kurta.
This post has Kurta (stitching is complimentary) that can be shopped. Pants can be added extra, as explained above.
The classic White on White Chikankari embroidery meets its Noir version with Meiraas created Noir Chikankari moodboard of Black on Black Chikankari. Dark, perfectly decadent and desirous Noir Homme...
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery
2. Antique quality statement Chikankari motifs used
3. Handloom Eri Silk or Ahimsa/Peace Silk, one of the most conscious and sustainable fabrics that is thermostatic and hence all weather conducive. It ages better with use.
4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (mood-board):
Noir is desire, Noir is decadence, Noir is dark, Noir is a mood. Chikankari Noir is a moodboard introduced by Meiraas as a reversal of the classic White on White Chikankari. The Noir version is the Black Swan to the classic White Swan Chikankari. It is rarer, deeper and goes to darker depths of mystery.
Noir was first introduced as a concept on Silks (Tussar & Chanderi), and now we had added one of teh conscious fabrics, Eri Silk in its repertoire, with exemplary antique 3 taar Resham embroidery done on antique motifs with masterclass detailing.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
The front of the kurta has an antique miniature floral booti scattered all over, with a fine Ghaspatti bel. The black on black rare work, on an even rarer fabric, gives it a very rich look. The sleeves have smaller floral bootis. The back has a stunning statement Floral Art arrangement. Finest and rarest of stitches in Chikankari have made this kurta come to reality.

Meiraas introduces Airavat! The first of its kind motifs based on our Pauranic Literature & History. The Eri Silk kurta with Resham Chikankari exudes power & mystique!
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery with very extensive use of Jaali work
2. Meiraas Exclusive motif Art - Airavat! The mount of Indra
Our Pauranic Literature & History mentions many great Gods, Demi Gods, Fantastical beasts that are deified, all of whom have birthed the species that exist today on our planet. Airavat, the father of elephants, is described as an 11 trunked, three headed, many tusked gigantic elephant king, that serves as the Mount of Indra, the God of Rain and the King of Devas.
Airavat has been a part of many Dev Asur battles, and has a significant presence in our Pauranic lores. The idea to introduce Pauranic creatures in Chikankari, was birthed basis an 18th Century swatch of Sri Lakshmi goddess in Chikankari, housed in National Museum, New Delhi.
This, and an informal interviews with private collectors and ancestral artisans confirmed, that Deities of Pauranic lore, were very much part of Chikankari.
Taking inspiration from this thought, we now launch our first motif of this kind, Airavat. The one that exudes Power & Intelligence, along with humility & grace!
POSHAAK (about the dress):
This Eri Silk kurta has one of the most stunning & creative workmanship of Meiraas. The statement back of Airavat features the 11 trunked Elephant King, hand carved in our unit, & brought to life using very fine quality craftsmanship using very extensive and intricate Qasab (Zari) Taar Jaali stitch (inspired from 18th Century Sri Lakshmi swatch in National Crafts Museum, New Delhi).
Other stitches like Murri, Ghaaspatti, Shadow complete this stunning, exclusive Jaali motif!
The front of the kurta has a Star shaped motif to bring in the celestial connect of Airavat, and those stars have also been done in Jaali stitch and closed using Orma sitch. The neckline has a ghaspatti bel.
The base of this stunning Yellow Kurta is handwoven Eri/Ahimsa/Peace Silk, with work done in shades of Rust & Dark Chocolate.
This is Quiet Luxury like never before! Just like Airavat & the species he birthed on Earth, this kurta represents Power & Gravity with its conceptual motif work that connects to our history, but also carried forward Ethical & Conscious tradition, with the use of Ahimsa Silk.
It is one incredible masterpiece & will be the most preferred wear for almost any occasion, and will age very well with repeated use. Being thermostatic in nature, this rare Chikankari Eri Silk kurta can be worn any time of the year.

Brahmakamal is the most beautiful Resham Chikankari creation we have made on Pure Organza Silk fabric. The lightweight and pearly lustrous Organza holds the delicate strands of Resham embroidered into sheer poetry of a saree!!
This saree is Made On Order only. Please email us at namaste@meiraas.com for colour or fabric customisation.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery on an absolutely novel border art.
2. Hand Embroidered Mukaish highlights.
3. Natural Fibre base - Pure Organza Silk.
4. Rare stitches like, Murri (Rice Grain) form the major part of the embroidery. The shadow work done in this saree is silent (which means that the shadow threadwork in the reverse is not visible from front, yet it gives the classic impression or shadow).
KHAYAL (Mood-board):
The elusive Brahmakamal, is an ancient celestial Indian flower, that is considered extremely auspicious to be offered to our prime deities. The reason behind this is its rarity of blooming in just one night between the period of late summer & early autumn, and that too in the higher Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Our scriptures revere this Brahmakamal as divine and celestial, due to this rarity. Various ancient texts of India and Tibet have mentioned its amazing therapeutic properties that can cure many fatal diseases.
Brahmakamal is that flora of our land, which was deemed as the best kept mystery of the natural secret garden of the Himalayas. We spotted some rare Brahmakamal in our many travels to the higher Himalayas, and envisioned them in the craft of Chikankari.
POSHAAK (About the garment):
As the name suggests, we envisioned this saree in pure, pristine and pearly white. Our immediate thought was using the purest Organza Silk as the base to display the snow capped peaks of Higher Himalayas, but with a mystique; hence, Organza was the choice.
The motif chosen for this saree was one that had to have a Brahmakamal like shape, which we luckily found in an old border motif. The best of stitches were brainstormed, which would bring alive this artwork. After the magnificent border, the palla was adorned with snowflake like motif to showcase the presence of the blooms in the higher altitudes of Himalayas. The rest of the body has smaller motifs. Stars of Mukaish are scattered through the saree like fireflies in the mountains glowing like celestial lamps on a full moon night!!
P.S : We will recommend getting this saree made on Pure Georgette Silk base
This saree is Made On Order only. Please email us at namaste@meiraas.com for colour or fabric customisation
The grand Mayur motif of Yakshi Shwet saree, finds a new look in this glorious handloom Mulberry Silk saree with Resham Chikankari, depicting a pair of Peacocks enclosed inside a window. The perfect saree that takes inspiration from the subtle embroidered sarees of the past, and allows the fine quality workmanship and the glow of the saree to create the magic of Slow Fashion.
THE SUSTAINABILITY QUOTIENT (TSQ):
1. Skilled Resham Hand Embroidery on absolutely novel motif art.
2. 200 year old Mayurheritage hand carved motif.
3. Handloom Mulberry Silk.
4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (Mood-board):
In Meiraas, we treat our Chikankari sarees as a canvas, on which we display our expressions or Khayal, via heritage hand embroidery. Ratna Mayur saree is an expression evolved over our many travels throughout the country, where the elegant peacocks are a common sight to behold. It is amazing how much joy the mere sight of a peacock can bring, to lift up even the most bleak days one could be facing. No wonder, this elegant bird is attached to our Divinity, and also accosted the status of our National Bird. The interplay of Golden Yellow base with Firozi Peacocks came to us from various fort paintings all across Rajasthan. Since most of these personal travels happened during our winter breaks, we especially wanted to create a symposium of all these reveries, into one saree. The saree base was kept as Golden Yellow to indicate the pleasant softness of winter sun in North India.
POSHAAK (About the garment):
This handloom Mulberry Silk saree has a buttery yellow hue, that is accentuated with Firozi Resham Chikankari embroidery to bring out the colour on colour interplay of the craft, that is usually known for monotone look.
The palla has a grand window made of border floral Bel. Inside this window, we have embroidered two Peacocks, making a lover's knot, poetically. Stitches of Ghaaspatti, Zari Taar ki Jaali, Hool, Bijli, amongst other stitches, create this visual poetry.
The rest of the palla has an interplay of miniature peacock motifs, along with floral motifs.
It is a very rich texture saree with stunning work, and is finished with crochet lace in the colour of the embroidery.
