Old, classic motifs: The Kurta uses old classic motifs of Chikankari, away from the commercial market mores. The Shahi Paan motif was hand carved for Meiraas exclusively using an archival Chikankari work as reference.
Rarest stitches: The kurta features some of the rarest stitches like Qasab taar Jaali, Bijli which are hand cutwork stitches, Orma, Ghaspatti, Phanda, amongst many others to bring the antique art alive.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Paan is a very endearing moodboard of Lucknow, let alone the rest of Bharat. Paan holds not just aesthetic value for us, but it is also considered auspicious due to its various health benefits. The betel leaf is enjoyed amongst all sections of society, and has especially been patronised by the Royals of Lucknow. Shahi Paan, which was akin to Art rolled inside the auspicious Betel Leaf, had the paan makers of that time apply the best of their culinary expertise to create a gilauri that was worthy of the Deity of the temple, which later travelled to Royal courts. This gilauri was especially wrapped with hand beaten pure silver foil called Warq. Our Shahi Paan motif & the kalgi adorning atop it, is an homage to those Royal Beedas of the ancient past that are still in existence. POSHAAK (about the dress): Shahi Paan natural Tussar Silk kurta has a stunning statement back of Paan and Kalgi motif, all archival motifs, that can be seen displayed in National Crafts Museum, New Delhi. Although our motif is much bigger, as that is how hand carving happens now. Laced with very intricate detailing, the stunning motif on the back, is balanced by a beautifully minimal neckline & sleeve line. Jasmine flowers motifs adorn the front of the kurta, making it a regal & subtle piece that is perfect for Festivities & Weddings. The kurta is paired with Glazed Cotton pants in the same shade. It adds depth & character to classic Chikankari, & makes it a novelty, without taking away from the core essence of the craft. Additional Details: The Kurta is Made on Order only. Gulaab Ittar – Chikankari Tussar Silk Luxury Dupatta

“There is a dialogue exchange in one of my favourite director, Satyajit Ray's, historical classic based on my city, Lucknow, Shatranj Ke Khiladi. The scene is like this - General Outram (portrayed very effectively by British actor Sir Richard Attenborough), the British appointed Resident at Lucknow, is conversing with a British doctor and legal practitioner, Ferra, on the ways to annex Awadh. During the conversation, General Outram, a true Brit, remarks on the perfume that the Nawab wears, which he calls "extraordinary" in sarcasm, but complains that his uniform reeks of it, even 3 months after the interview with the Nawab Wajid Ali Shah. Ferra remarks that the perfume is " attar", a Damask Rose Parfum made locally in Awadh. The slight on this fabulous perfume from Awadh was hurtful, yet expected from a character like Outram, who did not understand concepts of Indian aesthetics and was brought up to demean them. My mind however got stuck on Ferra's explanation of "Perfume of Damask Rose". My personal collection of perfumes is only of Ittar from Awadh - Khus, Gulaab, Sandal - being my absolute favourite. I always wanted to incorporate their name into a luxury piece created in Meiraas. So here is presenting a whiff of Damask Rose - The Gulaab Ittar Dupatta ” - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas. A true museum art piece, the Gulab Ittar dupatta, is an exemplary piece of Luxury Chikankari. Created on supple Handwoven Tussar Silk, the dupatta is dyed in the shade of dark Kaner Gulaab, and embroidered upon with a lovely Coral Pink Orange resham thread. The highlight of this luxury dupatta is the fantastic Jaali work with Gold Qasab taar (jaali stitch made using zari filament vis a vis thread, which means it is more difficult, rare and time taking to create). The Gulab Ittar Dupatta is finished on either daaman with crochet lace dyed in the same colour. It is a fragrance of true art!! The term is typically used for moodboards in film making, however, taking inspiration from there, it has been used by Global Luxury houses for perfumes with deep notes. We always wanted to explore Chikankari outside the ambit of classic, and create more varied moodboards, of which Noir is the perfect one, to give depth to this beautiful needle art. POSHAAK (about the dress): Noir is a Tussar Silk Chikankari Kurta in Black hue. This Kurta has a beautiful neckline of SwarnaPaatra jaali work, with Zari Taar Jaali. The front of the kurta has an old motif of Flower Vase with rare stitches & masterpiece Jaali work on one side (in place of front pocket). KHAYAAL (moodboard): The Khayal or Aatmamanthan behind keeping this collection under the name Dhanlakshmi was very clear. We wanted to make a repository of Heirloom Sarees, where we can create colours & palettes that signify the opulence of Sri Lakshmi. After successfully venturing into Gold, Silver hues, and Pearl, Firoza, Precious stones like Tourmaline, Agate hues, we wanted to include Gemstone shades. Our lands are blessed with a variety of natural minerals and gemstones that have immense energy stored within them. Formed under the envelope of Bhoodevi's (Earth) womb, they radiate and reflect back her energy and lend them to the wearer. Our Chanderi sarees, adorned with heirloom quality Chikankari, are named after these soft and deeply spiritual stones. Jambumani or Amethsyt is a beautiful Lilac hued clear looking gemstone. This beautiful Lilac rich Chikankari Tussar Silk saree with antique quality embroidery, is the perfect connect to that emotion with us, that resonates with carrying forward a revered Textile Tradition. POSHAAK (about the saree): Jambumani or Amethyst saree is a lilac coloured Tussar Silk beauty, embroidered with extremely delicate and prized stitches of Conceptual Chikankari Art work. The palla has our Bijli boota motif put together like a Rangoli or Alpana. Bijli boota is our motif commissioned on an archived centuries old art work. The motif has Zari taar ki jaali amongst other prized stitches. A small Bijli boota accompanies the larger one all through the palla & body of the saree. The border & palla of the saree have an antique 100 year old plus bel boota running all through the saree, that has extremely prized Zari taar jaali & murri stitches!! A masterclass border. But the highlight of this masterpiece is the Bel Boota falling down from the shoulder; delicate and anointed with some of the rarest stitches, this boota is like the rice paste alpana we make outside our homes. The embroidery is done with darker lilac shade, making it stand out, and stars of Mukaish are embroidered lovingly with the embroidery to resemble lit diyas on Deepawali. Saree is further finished with Pure Handwoven Mulberry Silk selvedge in beautiful Berry Pink, providing just the right contrast, and we will also provide a 1 metre approx blouse piece in same fabric and same colour.

Even as we though about it, it was amply clear to us that this is only possible on Tussar Silk from Bhagalpur looms. Tussar Silk is one of the most perfect fabrics for antique quality Chikankari; it is appropriately supple, tenacious, luminous at the same time, & yet it's earthy texture provides a rich background for elegant stitches of Chikankari, and in gemstones colour we want. Harinmani is Sanskrit word for Emerald. This beautiful light Emerald saree is an Heirloom Piece for your wardrobe, that will create the wearer's own heritage till they wear it, that they can hand down to generations that will love to showcase it in a private viewing perhaps!! POSHAAK (about the saree): Harinmani is our first set of Dhanlakshami Chikankari saree on Handspun and Handwoven Tussar Silk, a dream that we had been working on for past 2 years. The pallu has very old archived motifs, re created recently in our unit. The stitched used are of 3 broad quality: Embossing, Surface Texture and Hand CutWork. The palla has a rare quality of “ulti bakhiya” or Reverse Shadow that is now used extremely less, as higher embroidery filament count and “chaalu/rough” embroidery style started making it look very vulgar; but with the fine handwork that Meiraas employs and 2 taar Resham Chikankari, the result is stunning, rare and exquisite. The stars of Mukaish anoint this saree strategically. If the palla is viewed from the top, it gives the impression of an ancient, well laid out city!!! The beautiful light emerald saree (an auspicious colour for all weddings and festivals), is finished with complimenting yellow Tussar silk selvedge.
