Dhanlakshmi - The Goddess of Wealth is most awaited by everyone. But what is Dhan? Is it just monetary gain? Or we do not understand the true Wealth & meaning of DhanLakshmi. Health, Happiness, Contentment, Compassion, Calmness, Consciousness are the real attributes of Wealth that help in building a society of Dhan Lakshmi. True, every society needs money, but Dhan Lakshmi brings with her the attributes that let us understand the Art of Living, not just the Science of Earning.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
Swarna Lakshmi is a beautiful saree we first made in 2020, and since then have made various versions of this saree on Order.
Hand embroidered painstakingly with Resham 3 Taar Chikankari, on a base of Handloom Zari x Silk, this luxurious drape has an antique border on 3 sides of the saree, along with an unconventional motif on the palla. This divine saree has floral bootis in the body, and is finished with selvedge & gold lace detailing. It is a saree that can be worn for weddings, dining out on special occasions, festivals, ghazal or jazz evenings. These are sarees to be cherished, maintained carefully & pass down to future generations. The drape of the saree is engulfing, easy to carry, fluid and yet regal. This helps the pleats fall beautifully, and yet not make it so heavy that it becomes difficult to carry. These sarees are extremely tough to make, as it needs ambient lighting for the embroidery to be possible, therefore cherish them as very rare pieces of art. Golden Trellis is our heirloom collection of Mukaish work that was historically done once upon a time in Awadh region, but is not done any more. Golden Trellis is a result of, one of the many research projects we are working upon simultaneously. We know some might not see light of the day (although we firmly believe that everything can be revived if we just have the right patience and the will to keep going), some will prove to be false tales - a mirage of a narrative built for dramatic value and nothing more...but some, like Golden Trellis will be a reality that can be translated to fabric yet again, even if in a small way, even if a shadow of its one time glory...at least there will be a start.
Golden Trellis is part of the Art & Antiquities Project undertaken by Meiraas.

- Heirloom Full Jaal Mukaish: While Mukaish as a craft has mostly now become an embellishment to Chikankari, we at Meiraas have been trying consistently, to introduce this beautiful craft in all its individual glory, & in more heritage yet functional ways to wear it, to increase the longevity and heirloom value of each piece. Mukaish Jaal Dupattas on Silk are stand alone Heirloom Dupattas, that are versatile to be paired with any Kurta.
- Mukaish Hand Embroidery with proper "ghutaai" - this means Mukaish embroidery has been rubbed using old technique of filling pebbles in a bottle and rubbing on the embroidery, instead of new age roller press method. This one method ensures long lasting Mukaish. In itself Mukaish is more sustainable craft that sequins or "salma sitaara" embroidery, as Mukaish never comes off, maintaing the look of the garment for much longer time.
- Handspun Handwoven Tussar Silk: Thigh reeled, Handspun, Handwoven soft Tussar Silk from the looms of Bhagalpur, Bihar has been used as a base for these dupattas.

The handmade process involved here is drawing the pattern, tracing on fabric, tying & dyeing post machine embroidery, opening of all tie to reveal final product, finishing treatment (eco friendly).
Note: These days a lot of Digitally made Shibori from India is doing the round of market that looks very intricate in the first look. However on deeper 2nd look, you see that the NUI holes (made from sewing machine embroidery) are barely visible & light cannot pass through them. What is Desi Tussar?
In India, mainly 4 varieties of silk are produced - Tussar, Eri, Mulberry, Muga. Out of these, Mulberry Silk is cultivated silk, whereas the rest 3 silks are Wild silks. This is an important distinction, this means yarn for the wild silks are obtained from indigenous silk worm species feeding on wild forest tree leaves. Tussar Silk yarn is extracted from silk worms that feed on wild forest trees and has a natural golden glow. Its weaving is centred mainly in Bihar, Jharkhand and Chattisgarh. Please note like all Tussar Silk, this is Wild Silk, handspun, thigh reeled and Handwoven. Desi Tussar is just a colloquial term used by weavers of Bhagalpur, Bihar to indicate towards the purest variety of woven Tussar Silk yardage. The same fabric and process will be called Kosa Silk if woven in Chattisgarh. The silk you are seeing here is therefore the purest variety of Handloom Tussar Silk. Desi Tussar term is just used here for colloquial purpose.

" This saree was love at first sight for me! Two sweet Rajkot Patola weavers met me sometime back and opened their treasure box full of most supple soft silk sarees. That was my first introduction to Patola weave. Later I found that Patola sarees are woven in two towns in Gujarat - Rajkot & Patan. The Patan Patola is hands down the most premium version with its double Ikat starting in lakhs. The Rajkot Patola is its cousin, that though not as regal as its rich counterpart, is still one of most supple and graceful weaves. This is a Single Ikat Rajkot Patola with lovely highlights of Gold and Burnt Orange on glistening black pure silk body. The saree is incredibly soft and its pleats form & fall like a poem. Lucknow - a city of Gold & Silver!! In Kenize Mourad's historical part history part fiction "In the City of Gold & Silver", Lucknow amongst Awadh is detailed as a land of Gold & Silver symbiotic. It is a symbolism for the syncretic culture of Awadh, where two ideologies or thoughts had a place to survive together. It also symbolises the rich court of Awadh dynasty, where the aristocracy spent its days in the riches that the fertile Indo Gangetic plains yielded, and immersed themselves in Art, Culture, Music, Poetry. The book had a profound effect on us to create two such weaves - Gold Zari Silk & Silver Zari Silk. A symbol of the now lost Awadh.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
Gold Zari Silk Dupatta is a unique weave commissioned by Meiraas. Pure Zari in Taana, Pure Zari in Baana & little bit of Pure Silk to bind this Work of Art together. The Rich Weave has been then adorned with Resham Chikankari in Heritage motifs. This is a first time such a dupatta has ever been made in Chikankari, & likely this status will remain for a long time. The richness of the weave & Embroidery will be more enhanced when the dupatta is in the hands of the patron, it is like wearing a sheet of Molten Gold. The dupatta has vintage CROWN motif that dates back almost 2 centuries & was literally dug out from the rubble like a relic of archeology.
