KHAYAL (moodboard): Since the day I laid my eyes upon this Chaand Jaali motif, I have been a fan of it. How beautifully conceived this art is?!! I have used it in sarees, and even got a version done for Zardozi dupatta. I now wanted to created Chaand motif bel, a heritage antique one, on more functional everyday elegant luxury pieces. The crescent has to have a special charm for humanity for each faith to revere it so deeply, isn't it?- Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
POSHAAK (about the dress): Soft Icy Blue colour kurta designed very lovingly by us with Antique Chaand bel. The neck has a heritage Chaand bel that has been embroidered using sunehri kasab taar ki jaali stitch. Very rare piece of work!!
Same is with sleeves.
The back has a lovely heritage motif of bigger Crescent moon in Teen Chaand format. Rest of the kurta is plain so that both self pattern fabric & Chikankari are laid our neatly on the kurta.
The Chikankari is Resham and will be 3 taar.
This kurta fabric is a good way to wear heritage motifs in classical Awadhi style, and most importantly for everyday wear, not just occasion wear.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Sometime back I had conceptualised a saree, and named it Biryani chawal saree. I think that video is still available to see on our IG Videos. In that video i had mentioned that the Murri stitch resembles Sela variety of rice, used for making Biryani. That entire saree was dominated by very rare Murri stitch, which is quite difficult to do, and hence is done less now. I wanted to design a Kurta Fabric using extensive Murri stitch, and here it is!! - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
POSHAAK (about the dress): This luscious lemony yellow Kurta has a stunning phool patti neckline and has extensive use of the rare Murri stitch, amongst others. Murri, when done exactly like this, is a sight for the sore eyes. The sleeves have the same antique bel as neckline.
The back has a heritage Paisley motif with extensive use of Murri & Jaali stitch is also there. Rest of the kurta is plain so that both self pattern fabric & Chikankari are laid our neatly on the kurta.
The Chikankari is Resham and will be 3 taar.

Rare Hand Embroidery: We have focussed on finding rare & very old motifs belonging to actual Regency Era that were used in Chikankari back then. This is one of those miniature old motifs that otherwise is never visible in Chikankari. When wearing this motif you are wearing a piece of History. Please see our founder's IGTV "The Building Blocks" for more details.
Handloom Kota Doria: A rarity in itself now. We came upon this batch with great difficulty as most of the Kota available now in market is not handwoven.
KHAYAL (moodboard): Bronte's World - Bronte's World refers to the three sisters of Classic English Literature scene - Charlotte, Emily & Anne. The three were less celebrated & underrated authors. Charlotte wrote Jane Eyre and Shirley; Emily wrote the magnetic & solo Wuthering Heights; Anne was further underrated amongst the trio & wrote Agnes Grey and the now iconic The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. While set near about three decades after Austen, Bronte sisters explored a bleaker take of English countryside. The setting is more or less same, but where Austen's World is cheerful & simple, Bronte's World is untamed, bleak & raw with hope for sunshine. Blue & Yellow embroidery thus made perfect sense to symbolise Bronte's World.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): White Handloom Kota Dupatta embroidered with a 250 plus year old motif in our workshop that did not look inspired by any local flora icon that is commonly used. The two tone embroidery is done in Powder Blue & Butter Yellow.
Imp: Colours may vary a bit, although they are all shot professionally in studio set up & closest colour has been photographed; Any variation can be due to digital medium of photography that is outside our control.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Austen's World - Set in Regency Era, Austen's World refers to the classic books written by English Author, Jane Austen. The world she creates is a lilting melody that celebrates the small happiness of the usual life. There is sunshine, English gardens, summer balls, love, heartbreak, a clever dichotomy of aspiring middle class English society & the upscale Aristocracy reaching out for a humble approach to life. Pink & Yellow floral motif on soft white gossamer Kota fabric symbolises Austen's sunshine World.

Daaman is a traditional skirt from Haryana that gifted to daughters when they are getting married. The women of the house traditionally make them themselves as a token of love. The skirt is noticeable for its beautiful volume and typically ends at ankles. It is traditionally made in Cotton.
We have got these skirts made in Haryana, & then it travelled to Lucknow for Chikankari, completing its own journey of culture.
The skirt is made on soft cotton & has no lining as the volumes & gathers need none. The Chikankari is kept at miniature motif style with Phool Boota anointing this one. The skirt is perfect for any occasion or any destination.

KHAYAL (moodboard): The outskirts of the historic & charming city of Lucknow are equally beautiful in their rustic charm. These ancient Indo Gangetic plains are lush with greenery & boasts of one of World's oldest agrarian civilisation. Watching the emerald landscape of Awadh is a surreal experience, even more so in winters when dotted with the migratory bird population, the most notable of these being the Siberian Cranes, that never enter the city Lucknow, but stay just outside, especially in Nawabgunj Bird Sanctuary. With this concept in mind, we wanted to design motifs that glide in the night sky in a Yin & Yang appeal; we found the desirable art style of these motifs, very surprisingly, in Japan. The ancient Japanese Art style is dramatically circular in design, & it is here that we found our serendipity, the right manner to display the Nawabgunj Cranes. The motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018. Borrowing from Japanese palette, we designed the motifs keeping Chikankari stitches in mind, that best romance the gliding flight of the Siberian Cranes.
POSHAAK (about the dress): The cranes are falling, gliding, flying & finally in a circular Dance of Love in this Meiraas Exclusive Semi Stitched Kurta made on Handloom Cotton. A gentle smattering of Mukaish adds the starry charm to this harmonious flight - Power of Silence. The lace adds charm & romance to the ethereal Kurta. While the Kurta is not exactly opaque as it is White, it is a Cotton Kurta with Chikankari & will not necessarily need lining, unless you choose to take one.

Mango & Rose - Sipping Mango Shake in Lucknow summers is one part of the joy. An even better presentation is when Mango Shakes are garnished with Rose Petals, and served in earthern "kulhad" glasses. This was something done in some popular juice corners in Lucknow, transforming the much loved drink to an instant royal feel. Now very few such shops remain, but the memories are still fresh, & private summer soirees in Lucknow, still serve this speciality. A design where both ideas could merge, & play a pastel on pastel symphony was always on our minds.
POSHAAK (about the dress): This bright, beautiful Yellow kurta, has Resham Chikankari embroidery in lovely Pink shade. The fine Chikankari is accentuated further with Mukaish hand embroidery on the kurta. The symbiotic result of both crafts merging is a stunning display of soft colour on colour. The kurta is made on very soft handspun, handloom cotton fabric.
Additional Details: This Kurta can be stitched upto sizes S to XXL only. Please select your size & we will stitch it complimentary. Ready Length: Approx. 44 inches.

Kabootarbaazi is inherent to the culture of Lucknow and Awadh. Whether romanced in Ruskin Bond's period novella "A Flight of the Pigeons" or appearing aesthetically in Ray's "Shatranj ke Khiladi", Pigeons and the skyline of Lucknow is synonymous with each other. Seen here is Chikankari embroidered pigeon motif, created by Meiraas under Falaknuma Collection. This motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018.

Mango Yellow - When one thinks of Lucknow & summers, it is impossible not to think of the sweet nectarine mangoes of the region. As soon as fresh mangoes of the season come in, one whiff of the freshly plucked ones, sends anyone into an ecstasy of sensory pleasure of roaming in a beautiful mango orchard. This is what we wanted to capture through this design.
POSHAAK (about the dress): The central embroidery feature of this kurta is the Flower Motif on the Macchli Gate of Rumi Darwaza. When one sees this emblem of Awadh, one can see the two fishes on either side of a majestic flora. That flora is the central motif on the hemline & back motif of this kurta. A miniature version of the same, has been added to the body of the kurta. The fish motifs are done in Daraz to give this kurta the complete feel of the concept. The mango yellow shade, & smattering of Mukaish adds to the beauty of this piece.
Additional Details: This Kurta can be stitched upto sizes S to XXL only. Please select your size & we will stitch it complimentary. Ready Length: Approx. 44 inches.

KHAYAL (moodboard):
The skyline of Lucknow is incomplete without the gliding silence of Kites. Watching them is a therapeutic & out of body exprience. During our childhood, taking cups of tea in the evening & sitting on the rooftop & watching the gliding Kites was a popular Luckhnavi leisue activity, as was flying it. Times changed & everything became fast paced, pushing these slow activities to the backburner. They were seen as something ancient & not quite fitting in. Still, when we meet our Lucknow friends or family, the glding & elegant Kites make way back into the conversation with the oft repeated "Don't know where that time flew by" - Power of Silence. This motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
Patangbaazi or the Kite Flying Ritual as it was called is shown on the Kurta with delicate floral patterns in pastel Yellow colour in Meiraas Exclusive Semi Stitched Kurta made on Handloom Cotton.
