THIS WAS ONCE A DUPATTA:
Apart from creating original Artisanal Chikankari, an emerging portfolio of Meiraas is the ZERO WASTE PROJECT.
Aimed at up-cycling, re-using, re-purposing absolutely beautiful craft pieces that the artisans are unable to sell for various reasons, like someone got them made on order & then did not buy or the artisan ended up making too fine a piece that they could not price well at their level & sell & is thus lying unused, or fine quality embroidery, but wrong structure of garment, hence unsold & unused. For example this dupatta was made wrongly like a cross between a Kurta Fabric & a Dupatta & ended up being structurally incorrect, though the hand embroidery was absolutely breathtaking.
Our team curates & acquires them at fair prices from the artisans. It helps them move their inventory too.
The pieces then arrive at our office in Faridabad, where they are redesigned keeping their work aesthetic in mind & taking out maximum possible from the pieces. While designing, our aim is also to make more versatile & multipurpose pieces, so that the patron can take out the maximum from their investment.
Once the design palette is finalised, the pieces are shipped to our Gurgaon unit for stitching with trademark Meiraas finish. Since in acquisition pieces we cannot be sure of fabric, we line them with high quality Cotton Fabric, with a unique stitching technique where the fabric outside does not touch your body, and the fabric inside is the only one that is enveloping your body. This ensures that we take care of your skin's health & yet re-use the fabric to the optimum level.
Thus we created this statement making Mandarin Orange colour blouse/crop top with delicate Tepchi Chikankari embroidery!!
This Blouse has Potli (Fabric) Button details & can be worn with Saree, Skirt, Pants or even as a Jacket atop a Kurta. It is one of a kind conversation starter & a positive step towards Circular & Conscious Fashion.

Details: The fabric outside is Mill Made Blend. The Fabric inside is High Quality Ethical Powerloom Cotton dyed with Azo Free Dye.

For example this dupatta was made too short in length & too wide making it impossible to sell, though the hand embroidery was absolutely breathtaking & took many human hours.

Plain high quality dyeable Cotton Pants, made on order in our facility. Each pant is given singular attention while making, and is made with sufficient margins to make alterations possible in one size up.
This is the critical, as the margins make Ready to Wear more sustainable. It is this step that is rarest and missed out by most manufacturers.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Since the day I laid my eyes upon this Chaand Jaali motif, I have been a fan of it. How beautifully conceived this art is?!! I have used it in sarees, and even got a version done for Zardozi dupatta. I now wanted to created Chaand motif bel, a heritage antique one, on more functional everyday elegant luxury pieces. The crescent has to have a special charm for humanity for each faith to revere it so deeply, isn't it?- Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
POSHAAK (about the dress): Soft Icy Blue colour kurta designed very lovingly by us with Antique Chaand bel. The neck has a heritage Chaand bel that has been embroidered using sunehri kasab taar ki jaali stitch. Very rare piece of work!!
Same is with sleeves.
The back has a lovely heritage motif of bigger Crescent moon in Teen Chaand format. Rest of the kurta is plain so that both self pattern fabric & Chikankari are laid our neatly on the kurta.
The Chikankari is Resham and will be 3 taar.
This kurta fabric is a good way to wear heritage motifs in classical Awadhi style, and most importantly for everyday wear, not just occasion wear.
Please Note: Only Kurta Fabric is available to shop from this post. If you want us to stitch it for you, then drop in a mail at namaste@meiraas.com and our team will assist you further.
