THIS WAS ONCE A DUPATTA:
Apart from creating original Artisanal Chikankari, an emerging portfolio of Meiraas is the ZERO WASTE PROJECT.
Aimed at up-cycling, re-using, re-purposing absolutely beautiful craft pieces that the artisans are unable to sell for various reasons, like someone got them made on order & then did not buy or the artisan ended up making too fine a piece that they could not price well at their level & sell & is thus lying unused, or fine quality embroidery, but wrong structure of garment, hence unsold & unused. For example this dupatta was lying unsold for too long as the shop owner who gave the order did not purchase them after the artisan had toiled over them. The hand embroidery was absolutely lovely.
Our team curates & acquires them at fair prices from the artisans. It helps them move their inventory too.
The pieces then arrive at our office in Faridabad, where they are redesigned keeping their work aesthetic in mind & taking out maximum possible from the pieces. While designing, our aim is also to make more versatile & multipurpose pieces, so that the patron can take out the maximum from their investment.
Once the design palette is finalised, the pieces are shipped to our Gurgaon unit for stitching with trademark Meiraas finish. Since in acquisition pieces we cannot be sure of fabric, we line them with high quality Cotton Fabric, with a unique stitching technique where the fabric outside does not touch your body, and the fabric inside is the only one that is enveloping your body. This ensures that we take care of your skin's health & yet re-use the fabric to the optimum level.
Thus we created this beautiful Candy Pink double shade blouse/crop top with delicate Jasmine Flowers embroidered in Chikankari.
This Blouse has Potli (Fabric) Button details & can be worn with Saree, Skirt, Pants or even as a Jacket atop a Kurta. It is one of a kind conversation starter & a positive step towards Circular & Conscious Fashion.
P.S: Colours can vary slightly despite our best efforts & high quality professional shoot. This is due to digital medium of photography & viewing device. Please keep that in mind before making the purchase.
Details: The fabric outside is Mill Made Blend. The Fabric inside is High Quality Ethical Powerloom Cotton dyed with Azo Free Dye.

SUSTAINABLE CHIKANKARI BY MEIRAASKHAYALÂ (mood-board): Patta Patta Boota Boota haal hamare jaane hain - Mir Taqi Mir, 1723-1810
The mood board inspiration for the motif is based on Mir Sahab's poem & the romance of floral frescoes in India, whether in architecture, art, poems and even textiles. This is a unique Meiraas motif inspired from Rajasthani & Mughal art, as Mir sahab was a jewel of Mughal court, & spent his later years in Lucknow court with Nawab Asaf-Ud-Daulah. This dress is an ode to Mir Sahab.
POSHAAK (about the dress): This Kota Doria Dress has two masterclass arts - Gota Pintucks & Rehsam Chikankari. The dress was first pintucked & inlaid with Silver Gota. Post that it was sent to Lucknow to our artisans for high quality Resham Chikankari. The Dress is soft grey, a non traditional colour palette for Chikankari. The silver gota acts like a silver lining on dark cloud, very promising & hopeful. The embroidery is kept tonal & minimalist, yet graceful & regal. The back of the dress is plain with gota lines present in the kalis. The neck of the dress has silver Kingri lace details. The dupatta accompanying the dress is plain Kota Doria with Gota Edge detailing.
The dress is ankle length & well lined with soft Cotton lining. It has a facing of Handloom Ikat to add drama. It needs no pants.
