This is what dreams...rather Technicolour Dreams are made of!! An ethereal soft Mint pure Organza Silk saree, with Lilac Resham Chikankari & Mukaish embroidery. This saree is one piece only and Ready To Ship. The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
1. Skilled Hand Embroidery on absolutely novel motif art in Chikankari.
2. Hand carved motifs carved following all processes.
3. Chikankari work done on intricate, antique motifs, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (Mood-board):
I dream of an Evening in the old city of Lucknow in 1970s-1980s! The trip to Ravindralaya for a much awaited play or cultural performance. A laidback, candlelight dinner afterwards at Clarks Awadh's Falaknuma. How lovely were those immersive evenings of ghazals, the best food, the view of the glittering old city from outside the window, and the company of the most beloved!! From there, a quick trip to a friend's house for a late night baithak, where drinks & coffee were exchanged with a catch up. Every lady flaunting her best saree, as laughter tinkled inside the walls of the kothi.
My Technicolour Dream, is a throwback to those beautiful, slow evenings of Lucknow, that rarely exist now. This was also a time when embroidered sarees worn had to be minimal, and not overwhelming the wearer. The work had to be fine quality, & the saree, a conversation starter.
POSHAAK (About the garment):
My Technicolour Dream saree retains the pastel play hue, that old Lucknow was way too fond of. Be it summers or winters; be it morning or evening, if it is Chikankari, it had to be pastel with neat and clutter feee embroidery & stars of mukaish, just about highlighting the embroidery.
This soft powder Mint green pure Organza Silk saree has an interplay of three beautiful Chikankari motifs all through the saree in a decluttered, neat pattern. The Chikankari is done in Lilac shade, and especially shadow stitch motifs have been used, so that the lilac lends its colour to the mint body to create a Technicolour Dream!
Silver Mukaish has been added on the saree to give it a dreamy fairytale look. The saree is perfection for so many outings, with mere accessory change.
A dreamy and fluid Coral Pink gold Mukaish saree, with Resham Chikankari palla detailing in a conceptual moodboard. This saree is one piece only and Ready To Ship. The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):

Matsya Ambi is a throwback to those beautiful, slow evenings of Lucknow, that rarely exist now. This was also a time when embroidered sarees worn had to be minimal, and not overwhelming the wearer. The work had to be fine quality, & the saree, a conversation starter.
POSHAAK (About the garment):
Matsya Ambi saree has two prominent motifs of Lucknow detailed on the palla in Resham Chikankari:
Matsya - The Fish emblem motif of Awadh which comes resting on the shoulders, when the palla is taken over the shoulder.
Ambi - a very rare & old motif of overlapping ambis of different sizes, that seems to be inspired from Tanchoi weave of Banaras. It is a unique motif layout that was never seen in Chikankari, despite Ambi or Paisley being a very prominent Chikankari motif. This forms the palla, which will look glorious when taken over the shoulder.
The rest of the gorgeous Coral Pink saree is hand embroidered with Gold stars of Mukaish, making this the perfect throwback saree of Vintage Chikankari.
Soothing tones of Grey Silver of the Moon, glow in this Resham Chikankari saree on Handloom Tussar Silk, touched with delicate stars of Mukaish all through.

KHAYAAL (Mood-board):
The Khayal or Aatmamanthan behind keeping this collection under the name Dhanlakshmi was very clear. We wanted to make a repository of Heirloom Sarees, where we can create colours and palettes that signify the opulence of Sri Lakshmi. After successfully venturing into Gold, Silver hues, and Pearl, Firoza, Precious stones like Tourmaline, Agate hues, we wanted to include Gemstone shades.
Our lands are blessed with a variety of natural minerals and gemstones that have immense energy stored within them. Formed under the envelope of Bhoodevi's (Earth) womb, they radiate and reflect back her energy and lend them to the wearer. Our Chanderi sarees, adorned with heirloom quality Chikankari, are named after these soft and deeply spiritual stones.
Chandramani or Moonstone is a beautiful grey silver hued sometimes clear, sometimes cloudy to opaque looking gemstone. This beautiful Grey rich Chikankari Tussar Silk saree with antique quality embroidery in white Resham, is the perfect connect to that emotion with us, that resonates with carrying forward a revered Textile Tradition.
POSHAAK (About the garment):Chandramani, as the name suggests is a soothing Grey Chikankari Tussar Silk saree, that glows radiant like the soft & soothing glow of the Moon.
We decided to use White Resham embroidery on this saree, to symbolise Bela and Motiya blossoms under the soft Moon Glow in the festive months.
The signature motif used here is a lovely Floral creeper that has stunning Zari Taar Jaali stitch. Rest of the motif is done using Shadow, Ghaspatti, Chanapatti, Keel, Phanda etc. The saree has a detailed border running all through the saree, and the signature motif rests on the palla, as well as one of them also rests on the shoulder, like a brooch.
The saree is filled with little Bela blossoms in white. Stars of Mukaish add to the deeply beautiful charm of this saree. It is an unconventional colour for festive and wedding season, and yet one that will stand out gracefully, with a stately charm.
Saree is further finished with Kingri gota lace in silver, and we will also provide a 1 metre approx. running blouse piece.
A gorgeous Chikankari saree with signature Floral motif of Kannauji Gulaab, in stunning Ombre shades of deeply fragrant roses of Kannauj. This saree is one piece only and Ready To Ship. The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
1. Skilled Hand Embroidery on absolutely novel motif art.
2. Hand carved motifs carved following all processes.
3. Handloom Chanderi.
4. Conceptual Chikankari work, that might someday be housed in a museum of crafts, or a well researched coffee table book.
KHAYAL (Mood-board):Kannauji Gulaab is revered for its sharp yet subtle fragramce of Pink Roses, that was used to make Rose essential oils and perfumes since most ancient times, to this date. The romance associated with sharply pink and extremely fragrant roses of Kannauj, shaped our moodboard.
POSHAAK (About the garment):
This ombre Pink saree, inspired by the deeply fragrant roses of Kannauj, features a stunning floral Bel Boota motif on one koniya of the palla. The rest of the palla has two beautiful miniature floral running through the palla and body of the saree.
The embroidery is white on the base of Ombre Pink, to bring out the delicate stitches like keel, double kangan, ghaspatti, orma, rahet, pechni, phanda, amongst other stitches.
Delicate stars of Mukaish have been placed to enhance the embroidery work of this beautiful saree. It is finished with kingri lace on the palla.
Golden Trellis is our heirloom collection of Mukaish work that was historically done once upon a time in Awadh region, but is not done any more. Golden Trellis is a result of, one of the many research projects we are working upon simultaneously. We know some might not see light of the day (although we firmly believe that everything can be revived if we just have the right patience and the will to keep going), some will prove to be false tales - a mirage of a narrative built for dramatic value and nothing more...but some, like Golden Trellis will be a reality that can be translated to fabric yet again, even if in a small way, even if a shadow of its one time glory...at least there will be a start.
Golden Trellis is part of the Art & Antiquities Project undertaken by Meiraas.
The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Heirloom Full Jaal Mukaish: While Mukaish as a craft has mostly now become an embellishment to Chikankari, we at Meiraas have been trying consistently, to introduce this beautiful craft in all its individual glory, & in more heritage yet functional ways to wear it, to increase the longevity and heirloom value of each piece. Mukaish Jaal Dupattas on Silk are stand alone Heirloom Dupattas, that are versatile to be paired with any Kurta.
Mukaish Hand Embroidery with proper "ghutaai" - this means Mukaish embroidery has been rubbed using old technique of filling pebbles in a bottle and rubbing on the embroidery, instead of new age roller press method. This one method ensures long lasting Mukaish. In itself Mukaish is more sustainable craft that sequins or "salma sitaara" embroidery, as Mukaish never comes off, maintaing the look of the garment for much longer time.
Handspun Handwoven Tussar Silk: Thigh reeled, Handspun, Handwoven soft Tussar Silk from the looms of Bhagalpur, Bihar has been used as a base for these dupattas.
KHAYAL (moodboard): Poetry etched in fabric, Golden Trellis alludes to the once opulent courts of the ancient royalties of India. Trellis is the jaali like window pattern, a signature architecture in heritage monuments of the Golden Era. This museum quality piece of legacy bound, wearable art will a pride for any one who owns it.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): Handloom Tussar Silk Dupatta embroidered beautifully with the Trellis (jaalidaar window) Pattern Mukaish (Chheenta Mukaish) all over & finished with Gold kingri gota lace detailing (not visible in images) on the daaman of the Dupatta. Golden Trellis is part of the Art & Antiquities Project undertaken by Meiraas. The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Heritage Mukaish work re created: This work comes under Kamdani Embroidery. The name we have given to this particular style is "glasswork", after we got our Amer saree designed in same stitch. This is due to the fact, that we get it especially rubbed in ghutaai process to get the metal wires to shine like molten glass (we wanted the molten glass painting look of Amer Fort art). This is extremely dexterous work and is done on miniature motif style to ensure its wearability on multiple occasions, instead of it being relegated for very few. This work was historically done in Lucknow. What can be better sustainability than finding out a lost artwork in a craft & helping revive it again to wearable pieces, & most importantly in pieces that can be part of today's Heritage Builders' private collection; this will ensure the craft's continued sustainability.
Mukaish Hand Embroidery with proper "ghutaai" - this means Mukaish embroidery has been rubbed using old technique of filling pebbles in a bottle and rubbing on the embroidery, instead of new age roller press method. This museum quality piece of legacy bound, wearable art will a pride for any one who owns it.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): Handloom Pure Organza Dupatta embroidered beautifully with the rare & precious Swarna Chakra or Golden Diskette. This beautiful Swarna Chakra has very neat & delicate Kamdani work closed with a ring embroidery; the miniature embroidery is allover the dupatta. A historic dupatta, that will always be the pride of the owner & will remain as part of handpicked private collection.
Mukaish Hand Embroidery with proper "ghutaai" - this means Mukaish embroidery has been rubbed using old technique of filling pebbles in a bottle and rubbing on the embroidery, instead of new age roller press method. Handloom Chanderi Dupatta woven in Chanderi, MP.
Azo Free, thrice filtered, dye
KHAYAL (moodboard): The lightly bling dupattas are an ode to the era gone by, of gossamer odhanis, delicately dusted with Mukaish embroidery, as the women of Lucknow rarely stepped out in anything that could be termed plain.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): Handloom Chanderi Dupatta dyed in pastel Olive (mix of Green & Yellow) shade and dusted lightly with Mukaish Daana Embroidery. Perfect for gifting & wearing on multiple festive or light occasions.
Imp: Colours may vary a bit, although they are all shot professionally in studio set up & closest colour has been photographed; Any variation can be due to digital medium of photography that is outside our control.
Reminiscent of the Bollywood divas of 1950s, the sarees in this collection aim at re living that timeless & elegant era, that is so close to the timelessness of Mukaish Embroidery. This Blazing Red Saree is adorned with delicate embroidery of Flight of Pigeons (original Meiraas motif) on palla in a triangle flight pattern, while rest of the saree is covered with stars of Mukaish. A Gold tissue facing gives the much needed finish to this beautiful saree.

5. Sequins & Pearl detailing on the saree
KHAYAL (Mood-board):
Blush Pearl or Pink Pearl is the inspiration behind this saree. A strand of pearls with Chikankari Kota sarees is what defined the ladies of Lucknow and their summer afternoons & evenings. These strand of pearls were in usual ivories, but sometimes one could also find a beautiful strand of Blush Pink pearl strand and a saree to match! That understated elegant look was the inspiration behind this saree.
POSHAAK (About the garment):
Summer evenings cannot be as elegant, unless draped in this beautiful Blush Pearl Tepchi Chikankari saree. The saree features a very unique style of palla layout. It has a beautiful border on 3 sides, which features stunning taagha Jaali work along with Tepchi, a rarity now, and something we love doing.

KHAYAAL (moodboard):
Amer
The Rajasthani Floral art of Amer motif has mesmerised us, since we first laid eyes on it, during our travel in 2010. It is simple, yet an attractive motif of a flower vase encased inside an aala. The original motif is made using molten glass as paint. We always wanted to showcase this motif in a Muakish saree in exactly the manner of the original artwork in Amer Fort.
The Golden Trellis motif is designed after the round Trellis water reserve covers designed so aesthetically in Amer Fort!! It was a sheer delight to see the level of Indian Art & Aesthetic sense to even design an otherwise drab water reserve tops with such skill.
This saree is reminiscent of the Maharanis of India & their Royal Splendour. The dainty Organza or Chiffon sarees, the delicate Mukaish embroidery on them, the vintage Basra pearls around their slender necks and their regal style!! One of our most beautiful memories of a past gone by.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
Clouds of White Organza are held down with the glamour of Gold!!
Amer Mukaish or Kaamdaani Saree has Meiraas Exclusive motif of a flower vase encased inside an aala, as seen in Amer Fort. The saree has this grand and exclusive motif on the Palla. The Rest of this showstopper concept saree has dainty Mukaish daana all over.
In between these Mukaish daana however lies the real beauty - The circular Golden Trellis or round diskettes made in rarest of rare - Kamdaani Jaali Embroidery!! A one of a kind rarity!!
Imp: While the saree images here show scalloping on the palla, we will instead finish the saree with white silk selvedge only.
The saree can be dyed and made also on request in a colour patron chooses.
Storage: Please store safely in the cloth bag we provide. Air it after every few months.

Heritage Mukaish work re created: This work is known as Satkhani jaali. It has not been done in India or is extremely rarely done anymore. This is Jaali work done in Mukaish. Its karigars are not alive now, and some of the karigars who learnt this art do not work in India. This was re created when one of them came on a small visit to his family in India. He has taught some amount of work to our small group of artisans in Lucknow. This work was historically done in Lucknow only. What can be better sustainability than finding out a lost artwork in a craft & helping revive it again to wearable pieces, & most importantly in pieces that can be part of today's heritage builders' private wardrobe; this will ensure the craft's continued sustainability.
