The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Meiraas created unique Flight of the Pigeons motif
Mukaish Hand Embroidery done with all heritage processes intact
Pure Georegtte Silk fabric
KHAYAAL (moodboard): This collection of sarees was originally designed, keeping in mind, the timeless glamour look of 1950s sarees of Mukaish. From Queens like Maharani Gayatri Devi, who wore much subtler version and colours of these, to legendary singers like Begum Akhtar who wore deeper & richer colours, albeit simple Mukaish, but done allover..to Bollywood heroines of that era who wore much heavier Mukaish (as most films were black & white and they wanted embroidery to show even in that camera), the timelessness of Mukaish embroidery in that era inspired these sarees. Even then, most of these sarees were made on Pure Georgette fabric to give a luxurious fall.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
This lovely deep wine coloured saree has Mukaish hand embroidery all over. The palla has the Meiraas Exclusive motif of Kabootarbaazi (Flight of the Pigeons), in a flight pattern on the palla. The saree is rich with detailing of these motifs which are very difficult to create using Daana Mukaish. The subtle & classy appeal of this saree enables it to worn to cocktail events in weddings as well as jazz evenings or formal dinner dates, by simple change of accessories.

KHAYAL: Moodboard
"When you think of Chikankari, you invariably think of the Classic white on White. There is an ethereal charm of tone on tone Chikankari, that seems like a whisper of the soul whose hands embellished the fine fabric. They carry the joy, the tears, the stories, the candour that the artisans share, while the needles bring alive each Flower, Knot, Trellis; but how much more beautiful would it be, if this whisper was instead on Gold. It would be probably reminiscent of the Jama, that the Royals of yore used to wear, something that is today exclusively housed in very prestigious Textiles museums of the World. For me, as a designer and a connoisseur, it is heart wrenching to see beautiful embroidery housed in a Museum, to be gawped at, but designated to a fate where it shall never be part of someone else’s story.Shahi Paan Kurta is our endeavour from The Art and Antiquities Project of Meiraas, for which we travel through museums, seek crafts in Temples and study Historical archived images, so that the Queens in us can make these designs a part of our unique story again." - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas.

The Sustainability Quotient (TSQ):
Very Fine Chikankari (Hand Embroidery Practised Since Ancient Age)
Mukaish Embroidery (Ancient Beaten Metal Wire Embroidery)
Hand Picked Ancient Archived Motifs
Extremely Fine quality handwork, that is a rare find
Pure Georgette Silk fabric that increases the longevity of the garment & makes it timeless
Free Size fastening, so that this can be handed down generation to generation, making it Sustainable.
Classic finishing of High quality Lining and Buckram, which makes the garment timeless & ageless.
Khayal (Moodboard): Lehenga has been part of the cultural milieu of our country, since the times of Ayodhya and Sri Ram, and Kathak dance; maybe the dress even predated that era and got a grander version with the first known Kathak performance for the beloved scion of Ayodhya, after his coronation. Since that time, Lehenga, which is essentially a wide flared skirt, has seen many avatars. It is worn in beautiful, bright cottons, with tie and dye craft in many cultures, to this date. Its dressier versions include Handcrafted premium embroidered or woven varieties in jewel tones or plush rich hues, meant to stun the onlookers with its elegance, class and grace. Wedding Lehengas soon started replacing the Wedding Sarees in many places, and today have become a signature look for the Brides in India.
The charm of a Lehenga skirt, Dupatta and Choli is so unbeatable, that it has its versions in almost all crafts of the country, the latest addition being Chikankari and Mukaish.
A Chikankari Lehenga is like an ethereal fantasy come true. Embroidered richly upon Pure Georgette Silk, it looks like a beautiful dream, a garden of senses if you will, lit up with thousands of fireflies (Mukaish), rendering the wearer look nothing short of an angelic vision.
Poshaak (about the dress): This is a 12 Kali (flare) Lehenga skirt only, which has very fine and beautiful work of waves made in shadow stitch and floral shadow stitch embroidery, among other stitches, alternating between each kalis. The lehenga is made in 3 taar embroidery, and is exceptionally neat and fine. Each stitch will come alive as the wearer moves in it. What differentiates an exceptionally fine lehenga from a regular variety is its attention to detail, even in its corners and borders; even the embroidery done on the length of the Kalis, adds to its overall finished look, which is crucial in any sustainable handcrafted garment. Mukaish must add to the charm, and not become a mainstay, overshadowing the Chikankari; both the crafts need to speak a symbiotic language for the whole ensemble to come alive.
This skirt is finished in Free Size and has a traditional waist tie up. It is finished with a good quality Cotton lining for all day comfort, and has been given a high quality buckram in the hemline to give the skirt the required body. This classic finishing makes this fine quality handcrafted piece not only more wearable, but timeless, and worthy of handing down as an Heirloom piece.
Styling Tip: There are so many options one can exercise with a Chikankari Lehenga Skirt. You can team this beauty up with a blouse and dupatta of another craft to create an exceptionally elegant yet unique look; or one of the favourite fusion ways to wear this is with a Satin button down shirt & a gorgeous jadau necklace for a fun cocktail evening.
You can be as imaginative as you want with a Chikankari Lehenga Skirt.
Note: Only the Skirt is available to shop from this post.

Museum quality Chikankari sarees that can be handed down generation to generation as a treasure.
KHAYAAL (moodboard):
The Khayal or Aatmamanthan behind keeping this collection under the name Dhanlakshmi was very clear. We wanted to make a repository of Heirloom Sarees, where we can create colours & palettes that signify the opulence of Sri Lakshmi.
Krishna Lakshmi, signifies the dark night of Amavasya (Krishna Paksha), when the radiance of Sri Lakshmi, visits deserving households, to bring them prosperity and wholesome progress.
KrishnaLakshami is a stunning Black Gold Zari Silk Chikankari saree, with Black Resham embroidery, a piece de resistance, and one that creates new Heirlooms and Textile Traditions.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
The stunning KrishnaLakshami, is embroidered with extremely delicate and prized stitches of Conceptual Chikankari Art work.
The palla has a jaw dropping Rhombus motif with most delicate and intricate workmanship ever seen. It is one of a kind motif with 3 D quality artwork done by our unit artisans. Absolutely fine Zari Taar Jaali decorates this motif, which required an exceptionally high skill to make. The Zari Silk saree is embroidered in semi darkness, as it reflects back light; when this is a Black Gold hue, it becomes even more challenging, and here if we add Zari Taar for Jaali stitch, you can gauge the level of craftsmanship and artwork we are talking about. Absolutely precise trellis of Jaali cut with perfect guesstimate; this is the magic Indian artisans have in their hands.
Words will fall short in the praise of this exquisite beauty of a saree!! The body has absolutely fine small flowers made with tiniest Ghaspatti stitch. The bel running on Palla & Border is an exquisite example of fine miniature workmanship of the past. Some of these motifs are centuries old, and some freshly carved looking at centuries old motifs. A rare piece of Art.
The unique Black Gold colour of the saree with Black embroidery makes it stunning, regal & timeless heirloom that you would like to pass on generation after generation.
Saree is further finished with Pure Handwoven Mulberry Silk selvedge in Black, and a 1 metre running Chikankari embroidered blouse piece in Black Gold is also part of the saree.
P.S: If you are noticing dark patches anywhere in the pictures, then that is the Zari reflecting the light back to the camera, and this is not present on the saree.
Avoid moisture seeping into such sarees. Always store them in a dry place and in the Meiraas bag we deliver them in. Keep opening Silk Sarees in every 6 months & changing its folds.

After successfully venturing into Gold, Silver hues, and Pearl, Firoza, Precious stones like Tourmaline, Agate hues, we wanted to include Gemstone shades.
Our lands are blessed with a variety of natural minerals and gemstones that have immense energy stored within them. Formed under the envelope of Bhoodevi's (Earth) womb, they radiate and reflect back her energy and lend them to the wearer. Our Chanderi sarees, adorned with heirloom quality Chikankari, are named after these soft and deeply spiritual stones.
Jambumani or Amethsyt is a beautiful Lilac hued clear looking gemstone. This beautiful Lilac rich Chikankari Tussar Silk saree with antique quality embroidery, is the perfect connect to that emotion with us, that resonates with carrying forward a revered Textile Tradition.
POSHAAK (about the saree):
Jambumani or Amethyst saree is a lilac coloured Tussar Silk beauty, embroidered with extremely delicate and prized stitches of Conceptual Chikankari Art work.
The palla has our Bijli boota motif put together like a Rangoli or Alpana. Bijli boota is our motif commissioned on an archived centuries old art work. The motif has Zari taar ki jaali amongst other prized stitches.
A small Bijli boota accompanies the larger one all through the palla & body of the saree.
The border & palla of the saree have an antique 100 year old plus bel boota running all through the saree, that has extremely prized Zari taar jaali & murri stitches!! A masterclass border.
But the highlight of this masterpiece is the Bel Boota falling down from the shoulder; delicate and anointed with some of the rarest stitches, this boota is like the rice paste alpana we make outside our homes.
The embroidery is done with darker lilac shade, making it stand out, and stars of Mukaish are embroidered lovingly with the embroidery to resemble lit diyas on Deepawali.
Saree is further finished with Pure Handwoven Mulberry Silk selvedge in beautiful Berry Pink, providing just the right contrast, and we will also provide a 1 metre approx blouse piece in same fabric and same colour.

After successfully venturing into Gold, Silver hues, and Pearl, Firoza, Precious stones like Tourmaline, Agate hues, we wanted to include Gemstone shades.
Even as we though about it, it was amply clear to us that this is only possible on Tussar Silk from Bhagalpur looms. Tussar Silk is one of the most perfect fabrics for antique quality Chikankari; it is appropriately supple, tenacious, luminous at the same time, & yet it's earthy texture provides a rich background for elegant stitches of Chikankari, and in gemstones colour we want.
Harinmani is Sanskrit word for Emerald. This beautiful light Emerald saree is an Heirloom Piece for your wardrobe, that will create the wearer's own heritage till they wear it, that they can hand down to generations that will love to showcase it in a private viewing perhaps!!
POSHAAK (about the saree):
Harinmani is our first set of Dhanlakshami Chikankari saree on Handspun and Handwoven Tussar Silk, a dream that we had been working on for past 2 years.
The pallu has very old archived motifs, re created recently in our unit. The stitched used are of 3 broad quality: Embossing, Surface Texture and Hand CutWork.
The palla has a rare quality of “ulti bakhiya” or Reverse Shadow that is now used extremely less, as higher embroidery filament count and “chaalu/rough” embroidery style started making it look very vulgar; but with the fine handwork that Meiraas employs and 2 taar Resham Chikankari, the result is stunning, rare and exquisite.
The stars of Mukaish anoint this saree strategically. If the palla is viewed from the top, it gives the impression of an ancient, well laid out city!!!
The beautiful light emerald saree (an auspicious colour for all weddings and festivals), is finished with complimenting yellow Tussar silk selvedge.
Please Note: Shades like Green & Red appear different in different lights (indoor/outdoor), this is the nature of such colours and out of anyone's control. Please keep this factor in mind before ordering.

POSHAAK (about the saree):
Manikyam is our first set of Dhanlakshami Chikankari saree on Handspun and Handwoven Tussar Silk, a dream that we had been working on for past 2 years.
The pallu has very old archived motifs, re created recently in our unit. All major motifs seen here are especially commissioned by Meiraas, taking reference from archival motifs. The stitched used are of 3 broad quality: Embossing, Surface Texture and Hand CutWork.
The palla has our boota, coupled artistically with another archival motif in a beautiful design symmetry.
The stars of Mukaish anoint this saree strategically. If the palla is viewed from the top, it gives the impression of a rich engraving on an ancient monument.
