The saree has carefully made stitches of Ghaspatti, Shadow & Hool stitch in a Chakkalika (handmade bamboo curtains of Lucknow) Jaal pattern. The Highlight of the saree is undoubtedly the neat Hool that form the middle of each flower on the saree, making it a rich cutwork. The saree is finished with tassles made by hand & hand sewn on the palla using Mother of Pearl buttons.

Rajat Lakshmi is a beautiful saree we first made in 2020, and since then have made various versions of this saree on Order.

Hand embroidered painstakingly with Resham 3 Taar Chikankari, on a base of Handloom Zari x Silk, this luxurious drape has an antique border on 3 sides of the saree, along with an unconventional Peacock or Mayur motif on the palla. This divine saree has floral bootis in the body, and is finished with selvedge & gold lace detailing. It is a saree that can be worn for weddings, dining out on special occasions, festivals, ghazal or jazz evenings. These are sarees to be cherished, maintained carefully & pass down to future generations. The drape of the saree is engulfing, easy to carry, fluid and yet regal. This helps the pleats fall beautifully, and yet not make it so heavy that it becomes difficult to carry. These sarees are extremely tough to make, as it needs ambient lighting for the embroidery to be possible, therefore cherish them as very rare pieces of art. Imp: No order of this saree can be taken in Monsoons (July - September).

Resplendent & Graceful!! This saree is Pure Joy to wear & also behold. This Handloom Chanderi saree has Gold Zari running all through the saree with Kadhua Boota on the palla. It is adorned with Fine Chikankari of Flower Vases & Fruit bowl motifs that are more than 200 years old & were possibly used for Block Prints, an alternate craft that would have existed in Lucknow, and now is no more in existence. The regal saree has rice shade floral motifs done in Ghaspatti & Murri on the top part & the Palla & Pleats have the dual Heritage Motifs. The gorgeous saree is finished with Gold Gota lace to finish the look.

KHAYAAL (moodboard): Yakshi Amer The Rajasthani Floral art of Amer motif has mesmerised us, since we first laid eyes on it, during our travel in 2010. It is simple, yet an attractive motif of a flower vase encased inside an aala. The original motif is made using molten glass as paint. We always wanted to showcase this motif in both Chikankari as well as Mukaish. Yakshi is a celestial nymph mentioned in Ancient Puranic texts and epics like Ramayan and Mahabharat. The khayal to name this collection, Yakshi came with the Temple Art of India, like Khajuraho group of temples; the celestial nymphs are set in stone in the most beautiful expressions in these temples. They have been made with such devotion and aesthetics that one can imagine them coming to life at night, and reliving the days of past glory!! Linen as a fabric was extensively worn in almost all Ancient Civilisations. In fact some sources suggest the possibility of white on white embroidery being worn in Chandragupta Maurya's court; some ancient texts also talk of the legendary Maharaja Harshvardhan of Kashmir, only wearing White on White embroidered fabric. POSHAAK (about the saree): Amer has Meiraas Exclusive motif of a flower vase encased inside an aala, as seen in Amer Fort. The saree has this grand and exclusive motif on the Palla. The motif showcases masterclass Jaali (hand cutwork) embroidery of 2 kinds - Katori (squares like jaali) and Siddhaul (regular Jaali), both made in Kasab Gold Taar, making the process more skilled and time consuming. The vase has an outline of another cutwork - Double Hathkati. It is a rare example of masterclass Chikankari. Rest of the palla has small floral motif in shadow embroidery. The same motif is scattered far apart in the body of the saree saree till the end. The colour scheme is soft pastel on pastel play of - pastel grey & light lime. One of a kind! Styling Tip: Like most Meiraas creations, this saree can be dressed up & down for multiple occasions, whether work wear or party wear. It has its own charm in both situations. Imp: Some threads of the fabric shift at times due to round frame of Chikankari embroidery & nature of fabric. This is normal and nothing to worry about. Please Note: Slight wrinkles are part of Pure Linen texture. Linen is the most low maintenance fabric. Ideally before draping this saree, take it out and spread it and hang somewhere at least a day before; its wrinkles will smoothen significantly. Mostly it should be worn with slight wrinkles, yet if you wish to iron the dhobi press will be fine, with a cloth on top.

These sarees are distinguished by their stunning border & palla weaving that is inspired by the city of Maheashwar (the fort mainly), and the Narmada river. When I had conceptualised making Chikankari on these sarees, the very thought of Maheshwari weaving paying an homage to their town was my central moodboard. Therefore, I wanted the unique inspiration of Lucknow & Awadh to be represented on these sarees. The Khayal of Awadh meeting the Song of Maheshwar!! - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Design, Meiraas POSHAAK (about the dress): This beautiful Pink saree has a stunning Blue striped Palla with typical Maheshwari borders. The palla has beautiful Blue Periwinkle flowers embroidered in resham thread, that makes the saree look stunning. KHAYAL (moodboard): A Tale of two Dynasties Maheshwar & Awadh come together to tell each other the stories of their glorious past & their surviving present!! The Maheshwari Sarees are woven taking inspiration from the city of Maheshwar and Narmada River. Each border & palla motifs are woven as an homage to this historic city!! Hoe beautiful would it be if Awadh also came on board to tell its stories by motifs inspired by its own essence. The Khayal is a marriage of two beautiful ideologies & their rich crafts. POSHAAK (about the saree): A beautiful woven Resham Border inspired by Maheshwar Fort adorns this cheerful Pink & Green beauty on which we have got Paisley Chikankari Motif embroidered that is 200 plus years old!! The embroidery is statement like with two motifs on either side of Palla width & then small floral motifs on the Palla. These small motifs get sparse as we enter the body of the saree. The first design of our signature Falaknuma motif are these sarees. Showcased in some premium shows like Red Earth Saree Festival, Dastkar, Sanatkada, Ficci Flo & SAARC event, this saree was the game changer in bringing back stories & concepts in Chikankari Craft as an ode to Lucknow. After the debut of this concept, designers in Chikankari started exploring motifs beyond floral art. The saree was first videographed on Isha Priya Singh (@desidrapes on IG) in June, 2018 at the gorgeous Lebua, Lucknow. Isha ji participated in the video purely as a goodwill gesture. Khayal (moodboard): Built by Nawab Asaf Ud Daulah, the Rumi Darwaza, is the architectural leitmotif of Lucknow city. While the Darwaza is based on Turkey's Sublime Porte, our Rumi is much more magnificent & imposing as a structure, due to the skilled Indian "shilpkaars" that have perfected the art of astonishing monuments & mega structures since India's millenia old history. Today, Rumi Darwaza, stands like an old King on beautifully cobbled streets of Lucknow, welcoming & opening the gates to Old City of Lucknow. The Fish Emblem is part of the state seal of UP. Fish is a scared symbol for both Hindus (Matsya Avatar) & Shia community in Lucknow. POSHAAK (about the dress): This 3 D art saree is feather light & has a butter yellow base with gold pure tested zari detailing on either side of the width of the saree. Depicting the signature architectural brilliance of Lucknow, this saree has Chikankari motifs of Rumi Darwaza & Fish Emblem of Nawabs. A conversation starter & showstopper saree by Meiraas. Khayal (moodboard): Kabootarbaazi is inherent to the culture of Lucknow and Awadh. Whether romanced in Ruskin Bond's period novella "A Flight of the Pigeons" or appearing aesthetically in Ray's "Shatranj ke Khiladi", Pigeons and the skyline of Lucknow is synonymous with each other. Mehraab or Archways are signature architectural style of Nawabi era. The old Lucknow is replete with Mehraab. The Pigeons flying atop Mehraabdaar monuments against a blue sky is not just a saree, it contains the remnants of every Luckhnavi's culture!! POSHAAK (about the dress): This 3 D art saree is feather light & has a turquoise base with gold pure tested zari detailing on either side of the width of the saree. Depicting the favourite leisure activity of Awadhis, Kabootarbaazi or Flight of Pigeons is an ode to the slow life of Lucknow. We have shown Pigeons taking flight from top of Archways of old Lucknow. Each motif is made using 2-3 colours in one motif, that is a rare practise. Detailing like the beak of the Pigeons & Jaali & peaks of the Mehraab are done with Gold "kasab ki taar" (metallic filament). The embroidery is till the end of the saree. RESHAM CHIKANKARI (HAND EMBROIDERY PRACTISED SINCE ANCIENT AGE)

Khayal (moodboard): Taking inspiration from celebrated Indian author, Munshi Premchand's story, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, we created Bisaat. Celebrated Indian Filmmaker, Satyajit Ray, also made a classic adaptation of this story in 1977. Bisaat or the chessboard was the biggest conversation starter in Awadh; this past legacy has been recreated on this showstopper saree. POSHAAK (about the dress): For this saree our team created the following, as this one was the toughest to make: 1.) The Chess pieces have been researched painstakingly & created true to Nawabi Era, instead of popular Queen's chess. We have created Badshaah (King), Wazir (Minister - no Queen then), Ghoda (horse), Haathi (elephant). 2.) Once the idea was conceptualised, our team created original artwork, that was later drawn by hand on a block of wood by Block Making Artisans of Lucknow. 3.) The Artwork was then painstakingly engraved using 7 different kind of chisels, till the block pattern emerged. This was polished with peanut oil & dried in sun, ready to be used. 4.) This block was then brushed with Blue Dye & hand blocked on the fabric as per the design sensibility. 5.) The printed fabric was taken to our embroiderers who created this final masterpiece. Out of these, the Chessboard in the Paisley was the toughest to make, as the Chessboard is actually square, but the artisan had to learn how to skill-fully create black & white chessboard in an abstract Paisley shape. This 3 D art saree is feather light & has a mustard orange base with gold pure tested zari detailing on either side of the width of the saree. The embroidery is till the end of the saree. Styling Tip: This is a saree you treasure & hand down generation to generation. Wear it for day wedding functions, small intimate gatherings, in office, or when you want to dress up & listen to old vintage songs!! The possibilities are endless with a classic.
