KHAYAL (Mood-board): The outskirts of the historic and charming city of Lucknow are equally beautiful in their rustic charm. These ancient Indo-Gangetic plains are lush with greenery and boast of one of the World's oldest agrarian civilisation. Watching the emerald landscape of Awadh is a surreal experience, even more so in winters when dotted with the migratory bird population, the most notable of these being the Siberian Cranes, that never enter the city of Lucknow, but stay just outside, especially in Nawabgunj Bird Sanctuary. With this concept in mind, we wanted to design motifs that glide in the night sky in a Yin and Yang appeal; we found the desirable art style of these motifs, very surprisingly, in Japan. The ancient Japanese Art style is dramatically circular in design, and it is here that we found our serendipity, the right manner to display the Nawabgunj Cranes. The motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018. Borrowing from a Japanese palette, we designed the motifs keeping Chikankari stitches in mind, that best romance the gliding flight of the Siberian Cranes. POSHAAK (About the garment): The cranes are falling, gliding, flying in an upward pattern on the palla of this neon yellow coloured saree made on Handloom Chanderi. A beautiful border and floral motifs form the palla and body of the saree, adorned with stars of Mukaish, making this a must have Chikankari saree for every connoisseur and collector's wardrobe. The white colour of the Resham Chikankari looks resplendent against the juicy neon yellow colour of the buttery soft saree. This is a perfect saree for many occasions. A plain running Chanderi blouse fabric will be part of the saree. The saree is further adorned with same colour handmade fabric tassles in Handloom Chanderi and tucked with our signature Mother of Pearl buttons.

Epiphany - that is what this saree is!!

Our Creative Head, Vidhi, chanced upon a Peacock sitting on a tree with Full moon throwing Cosmic light on him, right outside her home. It was a heart stopping celestial sight that one has to be truly blessed to witness. This moodboard was then translated into the design of this saree with the motifs of Peacock and a Crescent Moon in our Chikankari unit.

The highlight of this Sea Green beauty is the Crescent Motif Border running as a border in the saree. This border features exquisite Jaali with Kasab work all through!! A truly spectacular piece of needle artwork.

The Palla has two peacocks perched on the tree in a celestially romantic pose, the middle of the palla daaman has beautiful crescent motifs with exquisite and rare stitches to finish the whole moodboard. Small floral motifs on the body and a star like smattering of Mukaish complete this saree. KHYAAL (Moodboard):

The inspiration behind this saree is the Ambi or Amiya motif, which symbolises Mango Fruit in Lucknow summers. One of the most celebrated motifs of Chikankari is paisley or ambi motif, due to it being a signature fruit from the city. This is the reason why most Chikankari garments carry this motif as a signature look. Another signature look of Chikankari is its Jaali stitch, which we wanted to incorporate, along with the Biryani Chawal or Murri stitch inside the Ambi shape, making this one of a kind rare, conceptual saree from Lucknow. The motif and the stitches that have been used to bring it alive, gives a feeling of the art and cultural heritage coming together to celebrate Lucknow, via needle handicraft.

POSHAAK (About the garment):

This stunning Ombre dyed yellow Chikankari saree has an antique motif of Ambi, in which we have incorporated two of the Rarest and most prized stitches of Chikankari, Jaali (Zari Taar) and Murri (Rice Grain). The border in the saree is a Double Antique Style Border with the highly skilled Murri stitch being the highlight.

The body of the saree has two Rare 200 plus year old motif of smaller Ambi with Jaali in it and miniature floral motif with the highly skilled Murri embroidery.

KHYAAL (Moodboard):

The inspiration behind this saree is the classic novella by Ruskin Bond, Flight of the Pigeons, and also the signature architectural landscape of Old Lucknow. The Kabootar Mehraab motif was a symphony of design, introduced by us, in 2018. Since then, this design language has adorned many of our creations. This motif brings a sense of calmness and it's cultural heritage come together to celebrate a shared heritage, via the needle handicraft.

POSHAAK (About the garment):

The Lilac Buttery folds of this saree look resplendant with Meiraas Original motif - Kabootar and Mehraab. They are a symbol of Calmness and Culture, the two things all humans must now work at preserving to make a better tomorrow.

The Palla has small motifs of flora along with the Dove and Archway statement motif.

The body of the saree has a Rare 200 plus year old motif of Guldasta (Flower Vase), that was used for Block Printing over 2 centuries back.

Krishna Lakshmi, signifies the dark night of Amavasya (Krishna Paksha), when the radiance of Sri Lakshmi, visits deserving households, to bring them prosperity and wholesome progress. KrishnaLakshami is a stunning Black Gold Zari Silk Chikankari saree, with Black Resham embroidery, a piece de resistance, and one that creates new Heirlooms and Textile Traditions. POSHAAK (about the saree): The stunning KrishnaLakshami, is embroidered with extremely delicate and prized stitches of Conceptual Chikankari Art work. The palla has a jaw dropping Rhombus motif with most delicate and intricate workmanship ever seen. It is one of a kind motif with 3 D quality artwork done by our unit artisans. Absolutely fine Zari Taar Jaali decorates this motif, which required an exceptionally high skill to make. The Shahi Paan boota is on either ends of the Palla, and has our conceptual work where we have filled tiny mango or Paisley motifs inside the Paan motif. The Paisley & Paan are two iconic imageries of Lucknow & Chikankari, and we have brought both together in this conceptual work, making it one of a kind artwork to be revered forever. The small floral booti in the palla & body of this saree is 200 plus years old. It has some extremely complex stitches in this small a surface area - Zari taar ki Jaali, Hool & Murri. One of a kind masterpiece!! There is an additional keel boota that runs in the body of the saree, along with complex floral booti. FROM THE VAULT COLLECTIVE Mihikavan is Heirloom Chikankari 2 Taar Pure Georgette Saree in Almond Beige hue with full jaal floral embroidery. The Palla has breathtaking latticework stitch in rare & old Paisley motif. A rare Heirloom Piece!! KHAYAL (moodboard): Kamadeva (God of Desire) and Basant (Spring) decide to break the tapa of Kaamajeyi Mahadev, and get him attracted to the beauty of Parvati ji. To set this scene of romance, they paint a rugged forest, where the tapa is going on, into a place of beautiful desire, an enchanted forest garden. In an instant, Basant transforms the rugged terrain into a Floral Paradise; his painting is so beautiful that all beings are turned on to create a valley of love, the culmination of this beauty happens when a dormant tree trunk starts sprouting flowers, & a Latika or Creeper of Flowers engulfs the trunk with her grip of love!! Mukaish stars create the much needed Mihika in this Garden created with needles and thread. The embroidery is done with 2 Taar Resham Thread and is extremely rare. KHAYAAL (moodboard): Kamal Sarovar Grande is a customised saree of the original Kamal Sarovar saree we had made in 2020 that can be seen here The creation of this saree was magnificent. Kamal Sarovar was born out of a dream to create a river full of blooming lotuses. Only a complete jaal saree could do proper justice to the thought. We wanted the base of the saree to have a soft pearly glow to represent a water body glistening in the morning sunlight, when the Lotuses have started blooming for the day. Our handwoven Chanderi fabric was the best option. A contrast pastel colour is used to create blossoming Lotuses all through the saree. This saree is a work of wearable art & a visually aesthetic masterpiece!! POSHAAK (about the saree): The expanse of Grey Chanderi Handloom saree plays with delicate Pink Kamal Sarovar embroidery in Resham Chikankari, all over the body. Each flower & leaf in the embroidery comes alive with glistening Mukaish stars that add mystical allure to this beautiful combination. The saree is finished with handmade Pure Silk selvage in the reverse side in the colour of embroidery, & trimmed with Crochet lace detailing in the colour of the embroidery. - KHAYAAL (moodboard): The Khayal or Aatmamanthan behind keeping this collection under the name Dhanlakshmi was very clear, we wanted to make a repository of Heirloom Sarees, where we can create colours & palettes that signify the opulence of Sri Lakshmi. After successfully venturing into Gold, Silver hues, and Pearl, Firoza, Precious stones like Tourmaline, Agate hues, we wanted to include Gemstone shades. Even as we though about it, it was amply clear to us that this is only possible on Tussar Silk from Bhagalpur looms. Tussar Silk is one of the most perfect fabrics for antique quality Chikankari; it is appropriately supple, tenacious, luminous at the same time, & yet it's earthy texture provides a rich background for elegant stitches of Chikankari, and in gemstones colour we want. Harinmani is Sanskrit word for Emerald. This beautiful light Emerald saree is an Heirloom Piece for your wardrobe, that will create the wearer's own heritage till they wear it, that they can hand down to generations that will love to showcase it in a private viewing perhaps!! POSHAAK (about the saree): Harinmani is our first set of Dhanlakshami Chikankari saree on Handspun and Handwoven Tussar Silk, a dream that we had been working on for past 2 years. The pallu has very old archived motifs, re created recently in our unit. The stitched used are of 3 broad quality: Embossing, Surface Texture and Hand CutWork. The palla has a rare quality of “ulti bakhiya” or Reverse Shadow that is now used extremely less, as higher embroidery filament count and “chaalu/rough” embroidery style started making it look very vulgar; but with the fine handwork that Meiraas employs and 2 taar Resham Chikankari, the result is stunning, rare and exquisite. The stars of Mukaish anoint this saree strategically. If the palla is viewed from the top, it gives the impression of an ancient, well laid out city!!! The beautiful light emerald saree (an auspicious colour for all weddings and festivals), is finished with complimenting yellow Tussar silk selvedge. Please Note: Shades like Green & Red appear different in different lights (indoor/outdoor), this is the nature of such colours and out of anyone's control. Please keep this factor in mind before ordering.
