KHAYAL (mood-board):
The outskirts of the historic & charming city of Lucknow are equally beautiful in their rustic charm. These ancient Indo Gangetic plains are lush with greenery & boasts of one of World's oldest agrarian civilisation. Watching the emerald landscape of Awadh is a surreal experience, even more so in winters when dotted with the migratory bird population, the most notable of these being the Siberian Cranes, that never enter the city Lucknow, but stay just outside, especially in Nawabgunj Bird Sanctuary. With this concept in mind, we wanted to design motifs that glide in the night sky in a Yin & Yang appeal; we found the desirable art style of these motifs, very surprisingly, in Japan. The ancient Japanese Art style is dramatically circular in design, & it is here that we found our serendipity, the right manner to display the Nawabgunj Cranes. The motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018. Borrowing from Japanese palette, we designed the motifs keeping Chikankari stitches in mind, that best romance the gliding flight of the Siberian Cranes.
POSHAAK (about the dress):
The cranes are falling, gliding, flying & finally in a circular Dance of Love at the statement back, in this Meiraas Exclusive Kurta made on Handloom Chanderi. The lace detailing on the neckline adds charm & romance to the ethereal Kurta. The Amethyst colour kurta with White Chikankari Embroidery and on buttery Pure Chanderi base is perfect to create the right drama, and yet have a classic appeal.

Dussehri is a variety of bright yellow mango that is famed for its sweet nectarine taste and its heritage crop based in Lucknow & its surrounding areas. Native to the city of Chikankari embroidery, since very ancient times, the bright yellow Dussehri mango has inspired a legion of design moodboards that dominate this subtle & regal needle craft.
POSHAAK (about the dress): Bright yellow coloured Chikankari Kurta with Fish pattern Daraz applique on the neckline & sleeves. This applique style is becoming extremely rare now, & was revived by Meiraas in 2019. The body of the kurta has beautiful & antique miniature motifs of paisley (mango). The daaman panel of the Kurta has a stunning antique embroidery, along with a statement back. The extremely soft Handloom Cotton base gives the Kurta a very flattering fall, & provides extreme comfort, while being elegant.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Sometime back I had conceptualised a saree, and named it Biryani chawal saree. I think that video is still available to see on our IG Videos. In that video i had mentioned that the Murri stitch resembles Sela variety of rice, used for making Biryani. That entire saree was dominated by very rare Murri stitch, which is quite difficult to do, and hence is done less now. I wanted to design a Kurta Fabric using extensive Murri stitch, and here it is!! - Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
POSHAAK (about the dress): This lovely Pink Kurta has a stunning phool patti neckline and has extensive use of the rare Murri stitch, amongst others. Murri, when done exactly like this, is a sight for the sore eyes. The sleeves have the same antique bel as neckline.
The back has a heritage Paisley motif with extensive use of Murri & Jaali stitch is also there. Rest of the kurta is plain so that both self pattern fabric & Chikankari are laid our neatly on the kurta.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Swarna Paatra or Golden leaf finds its mention in Puranic legends. A leaf of Gold that grants its finder magical powers of healing, and cures them of all doshas. It obviously refers to a golden coloured leaf that would have had fabulous healing properties. Many such "vanaspati" are lost now. Mango parties are held in plush orchards, cozy homes all through Lucknow. Some people skip dinner time meals completely to only relish mangoes as long as they last. KHAYAL (moodboard): Since the day I laid my eyes upon this Chaand Jaali motif, I have been a fan of it. How beautifully conceived this art is?!! I have used it in sarees, and even got a version done for Zardozi dupatta. I now wanted to created Chaand motif bel, a heritage antique one, on more functional everyday elegant luxury pieces. Patta Patta Boota Boota is a poem by Mir Taqi Mir, a celebrated poet of both Delhi School of Poetry & Lucknow School of Poetry. His beautiful poem is the Khayal or inspiration to name this Boota that finds itself as part of Murals in all Rajasthani, Luckhnavi, Delhi art 15th Century onwards or maybe even later. This motif of Chikankari is an exclusive design of Meiraas launched in 2018.
