FISH motif is one of the most celebrated icons of Awadh's heritage & history. The Fish Emblem was sacred to the Nawab royalty of Lucknow & Awadh, and its inspiration looms large on the many architectural landmarks across Awadh, that are now seeing the ravages of time. We have already created an Original Chikankari Motif of the Fish Emblem, we now wanted to create a revival of the iconic symbol in another masterpiece art of Awadh - Daraz applique.
The Awadhi Crafts are versatile with hand arts beyond Chikankari; Many crafts like Daraz, Mukaish, Aari, Zardozi have a unique standing of their own, yet are now relegated as an add on to Chikan in their most basic & non creative form. Daraz applique is one of them.

The Power of the Next Move!!

Celebrated Indian Filmmaker, Satyajit Ray, also made a classic adaptation of this story in 1977. Bisaat or the chessboard was the biggest conversation starter in Awadh; this past legacy has been recreated on this showstopper saree.
Painstaking research work was done to recreate these motif that you can read here Falaknuma

Pristine White Pure Georgette 2 Taar Semi Stitched Chikankari Kurta Dupatta set. This can be stitched on request, or purchased as it is.
Before making this Art Investment, here are few details we have put together for you:
Understand 2 Taar Concept:
Any Hand Embroidery is done with 5-6 Taar (filament of embroidery thread).
Chikankari is mostly done with 4-5 Taar (filament of embroidery thread).
Maximum Meiraas Chikankari is Resham 3 Taar, except few pieces.
2 Taar work is therefore the MOST PREMIUM Chikankari work. Why?
The reduced thread count means finer work, more artisan hours, special craftsmanship skill
Seasoned artisans can work with as little thread count as 2 Taar & their availability is limited, making such pieces LIMITED EDITION.
2 Taar is also premium because the less thread count makes the needle move more intricately.
The suit will be fully embroidered, yet lightweight - the epitome of Class & Fine Aesthetics.
Common Misinformation on this craft style:
There is NO SUCH THING as 1 Taar & 2 Taar in same piece. It is either 1 Taar or 2 Taar. 1 Taar ensemble are super rare & rarely done all over due to the craft being Platinum Standard of Chikankari Work.
2 Taar & above work will be premium due to the many reasons explained above.
Fabrics generally used for 2 Taar Chikankari:
This work is mostly done on Pure Georgette to make it visible as the thread count is less.
The premium price bracket of the suit attracts premium fabrics like Pure Georgette.
