KHAYAL (moodboard): Padma is a Sanskrit name for Lotus. Amongst flowers, Lotus, has a cosmic significance in our culture, with the beautiful flower considered as as adornment for our deities like - Sri Lakshmi, Sri Vishnu, Sri Yamuna Maharani. Sri Lakshmi is also know as Padmavati - or the one who holds the Lotus; Sri Vishnu or Sri Krishna are called PadmaLochana - or the one with Lotus like soft eyes; Our deities are connected to this beautiful flower, as humans consider Lotus to be the grandest flower amongst them, and offer only the best to their deity. The colour of this saree is inspired by the various shades of Lotus seen in old paintings and descriptions of them in various scriptures.
