KHAYAL (moodboard): Jane Bennett is a character in Pride & Prejudice (1813), a legendary classic by Jane Austen. She is one of the five lovely Bennett sisters, & is another underrated character. She has all the characteristics of a classic heroine - beautiful, calm, composed, gentle, kind with a need to see good in everyone - yet she is more of a non central protagonist in the book. Many readers find Jane very placid & simple, yet I see many character traits in Jane that are tied up better in her dearest & closest sister, Elizabeth. Jane just knows how to keep one trait apart from another. This is why this buttery Organza Dupatta with same motif in three diverse colours of Pink, Yellow & Blue symbolises Jane the best.
POSHAAK (about the garment): Natural White Handloom Organza Dupatta with pure tested Gold & Silver Zari borders, embroidered with delicate Bijli Boota re created by Meiraas from an archived block. This block has 3 master cutwork stitches in one motif - Hool, Jaali & Hathkati along with other with stitches like Phanda, Orma & Shadow. It is a rare masterpiece!
Imp: Colours may vary a bit, although they are all shot professionally in studio set up & closest colour has been photographed; Any variation can be due to digital medium of photography that is outside our control.
Please Note: Only the dupatta is for sale in this post. You can drop us a mail at namaste@meiraas.com to plan a Kurta to go with this dupatta.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Jane Eyre (1847) is an English Classic Novel penned by Charlotte Bronte under her pseudonym Currer Bell. Jane Eyre is an extremely moving story of an orphan who, despite the bleakness of her situation in life, aspires & hopes to find life, light & love, and eventually through her own journey finds everything she wished for. Her chance for hope is symbolised by lemon yellow embroidery (colour of hope), against the coldness of white. This dupatta is Jane Eyre.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): White Handloom Kota Dupatta embroidered with stark lemon yellow delicate Tepchi Chikankari in floral pattern. Last image is taken against a backlight.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Elizabeth Bennett is the central protagonist of Pride & Prejudice (1813), a legendary classic by Jane Austen. She is one of the five lovely Bennett sisters, & is now considered amongst the greatest heroines of English Classic Literature. Elizabeth is "second only to Jane in beauty & countenance", yet her most endearing aspect is her cynicism tempered with her sweet nature. With all the traits that Jane has & keeps each separate from the other, Elizabeth's character is a beautifully aligned composition of each one of them in a neat & witty package. This is why this buttery Organza Dupatta with three diverse colours of Pink, Yellow & Blue in one Motif symbolises Elizabeth the best, & as an evolved version of Jane.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Catherine Earnshaw is one of the central characters of Wuthering Heights (1847), an iconic & solo work of Emily Bronte. Wuthering Heights is tumultuous, raw, untamed, complex. While many readers feel that is a symbolism of its male protagonist, Heathcliff, I have always felt that the wild English moors of this novel symbolise Catherine, its female protagonist. I felt Heathcliff reacted to everything that was Catherine. Catherine is extremely complex; raised to be a lady & aspiring to be one too, she however loves untamed wildness. The intricate jaal work of this dupatta and its creamy sophistication alongside, makes us name it Catherine.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): Cream Handloom Kota Dupatta embroidered with delicate full jaal tone on tone Tepchi Chikankari in floral & paisley pattern. Last image is taken against a backlight. The crochet lace detailing in cream colour is a signature style of Meiraas & adds to the character of the dupatta.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Bronte's World - Bronte's World refers to the three sisters of Classic English Literature scene - Charlotte, Emily & Anne. The three were less celebrated & underrated authors. Charlotte wrote Jane Eyre and Shirley; Emily wrote the magnetic & solo Wuthering Heights; Anne was further underrated amongst the trio & wrote Agnes Grey and the now iconic The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. While set near about three decades after Austen, Bronte sisters explored a bleaker take of English countryside. The setting is more or less same, but where Austen's World is cheerful & simple, Bronte's World is untamed, bleak & raw with hope for sunshine. Blue & Yellow embroidery thus made perfect sense to symbolise Bronte's World.
POSHAAK (about the dupatta): White Handloom Kota Dupatta embroidered with a 250 plus year old motif in our workshop that did not look inspired by any local flora icon that is commonly used. The two tone embroidery is done in Powder Blue & Butter Yellow.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Austen's World - Set in Regency Era, Austen's World refers to the classic books written by English Author, Jane Austen. The world she creates is a lilting melody that celebrates the small happiness of the usual life. There is sunshine, English gardens, summer balls, love, heartbreak, a clever dichotomy of aspiring middle class English society & the upscale Aristocracy reaching out for a humble approach to life. Pink & Yellow floral motif on soft white gossamer Kota fabric symbolises Austen's sunshine World.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Emma (1815) is an English Classic penned by the legendary Jane Austen. Emma Woodhouse's World is carefree, full of peachy youth, an eagerness to help and fix everyone's problems and as a result create more problems. Austen's writing exposes a very different English society, one that is more simple & relatable to the slice of every day life. Emma's adorable character traits made us name this Peach dupatta after her.
