POSHAAK (about the product):
Khus - the hue associated with ancient Awadh!! Khus!!
The essence of Khus is difficult to describe, unless experienced firsthand. However, if one has to, then this grass, that throws the most pleasant fragrance, when sprinkled with water, is the feeling one gets when donning a Chikankari Kurta in scorching summers, sitting indoors, and reading a book with soft music and eating Kulfi.
Khus is that romance that is indigenous to Lucknow, and to Awadh. This Kurta has been lovingly given this beautiful Pastel yet deeper green hue to denote our expression for Khus - fresh and romantic!!
The Khus Green Chikankari Kurta made on soft cotton has a Round and V design, showing beautiful décolletage, and comfortable in the sweltering months.
The neck has beautiful embroidery, while the rest of the body has lovely scattered motifs.
The back of the Kurta has small bootis scattered at a distance.

POSHAAK (about the product):
Nawabi is a tunic designed taking references from Bengal style neckline that was very much in vogue right uptil 70s. Largely used for mens' fashion in the past, we have made the design gender neutral by creating it for women.
This is self woven pattern (Jaquard) Pure Cotton Chikankari Kurta with beautiful chanapatti, shadow, phanda (hand cutwork) stitches, with Mother of Pearl button detailing.
The shade of the Kurta: ECRU
What is ECRU? Ecru is an un-White colour; meaning a white that has subtle hint of another colour. At Meiraas, we are exploring an un-White colour palette, and Ecru is a colour we have successfully replicated after many trials on fabric samples.
Ecru is generally of two kind - White with hint of olive green, White with hint of olive brown. While both Ecru are ethereal, we lean more towards the green tint; so summer fresh and elegant.

The motifs used in this saree are generally used for Pure Georgette sarees. In the local language of the artisans they called "Pure ka Boota" (meaning expensive motif). The motifs generally used for everyday Cotton Sarees are unskilled and are referred to as "chaalu kaam" (basic work) in their local parlance. The usage of this motif gave them an opportunity to work upon designs that they generally never get, thereby enhancing their skill set.
Jaali Stitch - fast vanishing from all artisans skill set, the Jaali stitch now remains a cynosure of premium Chikankari units only. The bargain basement embroidery market has completely devolved the artisan skill in Chikankari. We got them back to practising Jaali stitch by commissioning the same on Rajnigandha saree. (please refer to last image for reference, as initial photos did not have Jaali. The last image is an indoor mobile phone click to show jaali).
Khayal (moodboard):"Rajnigandha Collection was born out of my love of 70s effortless and relatable genre of Hindi Cinema, and the look of the heroines of such films, who felt closer to the women in my family & around me – my mother, my aunts, my teachers – all of whom were heroines in their own life, and were changing the societal mindset, to accept women who knew their mind, could go out & work, or homemakers who needed personal time, have a life and defined choices, while taking their family along in this journey. It was an interesting time!! Rajnigandha was especially chosen for Chikankari sarees, because they were heavily worn by women of all age groups in Lucknow, light worked ones and heavier Tepchi ones in pretty sorbet & pastel shades. The collection is also my heart collective, as it involves Artisan Skill Enhancement at each level, along with using good quality handwoven cotton fabric, all of which has completely disappeared from Chikankari everyday sarees."- Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, MeiraasPoshaak (about the saree): An oblong Cypress Boota, a rare find, anoints itself on this beautiful Chikankari saree, that we choose to call MadhuMaalti. The motif is extremely rare, and has beautiful & very rare Jaali stitch done in cotton thread, a rarity now in everyday Chikankari sarees.
It is a beautiful Pink hued saree, that needs very little to dress it up or down for various occasions.
Wear it for office with silver jewellery, or brunch with friends with well chosen Tribal Jewels.
This is Amber Charkha spun (non motorised) & Handwoven soft Cotton from West Bengal. It is embroidered with intricate Cypress motif, a rare motif to be found in Lucknow, with intricate workmanship and most importantly Jaali embroidery (please refer to last image). Rest of the saree has small floral bootis all over.
It is a perfect light office/lunch/brunch/casual wear saree, yet one that will make heads turn. The drape is perfect for any weather.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Sometime back I had conceptualised a saree, and named it Biryani chawal saree. I think that video is still available to see on our IG Videos. In that video i had mentioned that the Murri stitch resembles Sela variety of rice, used for making Biryani. That entire saree was dominated by very rare Murri stitch, which is quite difficult to do, and hence is done less now. I wanted to design a Kurta Fabric using extensive Murri stitch, and here it is!!- Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
POSHAAK (about the dress): This lovely Pink Kurta has a stunning phool patti neckline and has extensive use of the rare Murri stitch, amongst others. Murri, when done exactly like this, is a sight for the sore eyes. The sleeves have the same antique bel as neckline.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Swarna Paatra or Golden leaf finds its mention in Puranic legends. A leaf of Gold that grants its finder magical powers of healing, and cures them of all doshas. It obviously refers to a golden coloured leaf that would have had fabulous healing properties. Many such "vanaspati" are lost now. This heritage motif reminds me of that Puranic legend always- Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas

KHAYAL (moodboard): Mangoes & Lucknow have a sweet nectarine relationship. You can sniff the fragrance of Dussehri as you alight in Lucknow in June month uptil July mid. Mango parties are held in plush orchards, cozy homes all through Lucknow. Some people skip dinner time meals completely to only relish mangoes as long as they last. How can the most loved & anticipated for fruit not form an iconic imagery in the city's craft, Chikankari?- Vidhi Rastogi, Head of Creative, Meiraas
POSHAAK (about the dress): Lovely yellow colour kurta designed very lovingly by us for the Dussehri season. The neck has an antique Ambi bel that has been embroidered using sunehri kasab taar ki jaali stitch.

KHAYAL (moodboard): Since the day I laid my eyes upon this Chaand Jaali motif, I have been a fan of it. How beautifully conceived this art is?!! I have used it in sarees, and even got a version done for Zardozi dupatta. I now wanted to created Chaand motif bel, a heritage antique one, on more functional everyday elegant luxury pieces.
